Chapter Eighty-three: Jessica - Vengeance in Chaos

My heart pounded erratically in my chest as I peered down from my vantage point high in the rocky mountains. The night sky was suddenly ablaze with the fiery explosion, engulfing Victor Donovan's opulent yacht in a devastating blast. This was the moment I had been waiting for—the moment of vengeance and freedom. But as the reality of what I had orchestrated sunk in, a tumult of mixed emotions gripped me. This was my plan, my desire to see him gone, but now that his once majestic yacht lay in ruins, a strange and unexpected sense of shock and anguish washed over me. 'What have I done?!' The thought raced through my mind, and I grappled with the weight of my own actions.

Victor Donovan was a man who had played with my emotions, toying with my heart like a puppet on strings. Love and hate entwined within me, a twisted dance that had partly led me down this path of vengeance.

As tears welled up in my eyes, I brought out my gun, gripping it tightly in my trembling hand. My heart felt as if it had been ripped from my chest, leaving a gaping void. With a trembling hand from the shock, and without hesitation, I shot the mercenary who had fired the bazooka in the back of the head.

At that moment, everything around me seemed to slow down. The other mercenaries were momentarily stunned, confusion etched across their faces. Before their leader, Mamante ‘The Shark’ Mattiace, could react, I seized the opportunity, I hurled myself off the rocky cliff, plummeting into the dark waters below.

Bullets zipped through the air around me, and I felt an excruciating pain in my leg as a bullet found its mark. But I pushed on, driven by determination and fueled by my love-hate turmoil.

Struggling against the waves, I swam with all my might towards the distant island where Adele, Archer, and his men were. Finally, I reached the shore, bloodied and limping, but fueled by a relentless desire to finish what I had started. I dispatched any guards who dared stand in my way, their lives forfeit in the pursuit of my goals.

Moving stealthily through the shadows, I closed in on the cabin where I believed Adele was hiding.

I saw Archer's men, distracted by the fiery destruction of Victor's yacht, and took advantage of their preoccupation. From my hiding spot, I observed the mercenaries crossing the water in their speed boats, an army of chaos drawing nearer.

Chaos reigned all around, the sounds of gunfire and explosions drowning out my own heartbeat. My bleeding leg slowed me down, but it couldn't stop my relentless drive.

I finally arrived at the cabin where Adele was hiding. She stood near the window, her face a mix of fear and confusion as she witnessed the madness unfolding outside. It was now or never. I moved swiftly and silently, a ghost in the night.

Adele's expression turned from confusion to fear as I entered the cabin. Before she could react, I eliminated the guards with quick precision, their lifeless bodies collapsing to the floor.

My gun pointed unwaveringly at Adele, my voice cold and unwavering, I uttered the words that sealed her fate. "Now, you die," I said, my finger tightening on the trigger as I fired the shot.

At the same time, agony consumed me as a searing pain shot through my back, and my body convulsed with the intensity of it. A burning sensation engulfed my insides, and I struggled to catch my breath, the sound escaping my lips a choked gasp. Blood splattered from my parted lips, painting a macabre scene.

Through the haze of pain, a familiar voice reached my ears, causing my heart to skip a beat. "Hello, lovely, did you miss me?" I swore I heard Mark right behind me, his taunting words sent shivers down my spine. ‘No way! I must be hallucinating,’ I thought to myself. But I couldn’t move or turn around to confirm, the pain was excruciating.

Blinking through tears of suffering, I saw Archer's little bitch crouched on the floor, her hands stained with blood. My vision blurred, but I could make out the horrific scene before me. Blood seeped from Archer's chest, his breathing labored as he coughed.

In that terrible moment, realization dawned upon me, a cruel twist of fate. My shot had hit the wrong target; it was never meant to be this way. My desperate scream echoed through the chaos, a plea to reverse the irreversible. "No!" I cried, my voice hoarse with despair. My carefully laid plans had crumbled. It wasn’t supposed to be like this!’

As I dropped to my knees, an intense sensation of numbness engulfed my body, as if I had become detached from my own limbs, a cyborg pulled apart from its core. The pain was unbearable, leaving me gasping for breath, my labored breathing sounding like the desperate wheezing of a person on the brink of death. A sense of isolation washed over me as I lay there, hoping someone would come to my aid, but no one rushed to my side, and no familiar voice called out my name. The chilling void around me made me feel cold and hollow, leaving me wondering if this was the end of my journey.
