Chapter WOLF — Chapter One Hundred and Eight

The vampire burst the blood pack on her face, enraged by my brother's teasing.

'Don't be silly, Alina, you really don't want to face an Alpha Labonair, do you?' His partner is pregnant, we are not going to leave the little wolf orphan, that is if he survives until the end of the gestation taking into account the female's weakness in conceiving.

Aiden balled his hands into fists and probably would have ripped the vampire's head off if a third man hadn't shown up, accompanied by two young women. What caught my attention the most about the wizard were his snow white hair and blue eyes, he was an old man, there was no doubt about that, the power that came from him made me shudder.

— You must not threaten a Labonair's pup, Kai,— said the elder. — It's not every day that we have the privilege of being in the presence of three Pure wolves.

The old man stopped in front of Jack and bowed his head in respect.

— Glad to see you, Supreme.

Jack returned the wave.

— It surprises me to see you alive, Gaspar, we don't see millennial witches every day.

The old man scratched his white beard.

— I'm in the golden age, boy.

I frowned, wondering how old Gaspar was for him to be referring to Jack as a boy. The elder fixed his eyes on me, and something like admiration crept over his aged features.

— You really are a unique creature.

— We met?

I stiffened when Gaspar reached out with his old hand and touched my forehead, seeming to get a shock from my skin.

— What are you really?

— That's none of your business,— I replied apprehensively. — We didn't set up this meeting to talk about me.

Whatever Gaspar had seen about the power lying dormant in my blood, he was smart not to ask any more questions, and I definitely wasn't going to answer him. The elder sat in one of the chairs the twins had brought him, they were the complete opposite, while one looked like a ray of golden sunlight, the other reminded me of the dark glow of the night. They were silent the entire time, like statues.

— Why did you summon us, Supreme?

Jack gave me a quick look before walking over.

— The wolves were attacked and a war was fought.

Alina, the red— haired vampire, licked her bloodstained lips.

— It was your bitch who started the war by killing our clan's vampires.

Fury consumed my partner as he grabbed Alina around the neck, putting absurd strength in the grip to hiss in her face:

— I don't care that you're a Constantine or that you're royalty among your people, insult my partner one more time and I'll burn this whole damn city down with what's left of your bloodline, got it?

Kai tried to move forward to free his sister, but Aiden shoved him so hard the vampire almost destroyed the sculpture of Jesus on the cross hanging on the wall.

— Why do you care so much? She's only female,— the vampire muttered as he rose from the ground.

I allowed my essence to flow and my power reached all the magical creatures present in St Louis Cathedral. Even Gaspar was silent at the dominance in my blood.

— You made her Ultimate Female,— whispered Kai, too surprised to blink. — That never existed.

— Now there is.

Jack's pupils dilated as he muttered one last time:

— Hayley is my partner and Ultimate Female, if anyone harms her, she will burn in the flames of hell.

Kai and Alina were Constantine twins, an extremely ancient and rare bloodline, royalty among vampires, just as the Labonairs were to wolves. I had never seen them before, but the rumors were true, they were still alive and a threat.

— Consider this a warning not to threaten my family again if you don't want to bear the consequences,— declared the Supreme.

Gaspar rubbed his hands together as Kai helped his sister recover.

— If you plan to achieve peace between the factions, I suggest you pull yourself together, Supreme.

— I didn't come to negotiate peace,— my partner assured. — I came to inform you that if the vampires do not cede control of the city, I will hunt them all to the end of the world and eliminate these vermin from the face of the Earth.

Kai huffed out a breath.

— You may be stronger with your partner and the Labonair, but you are outnumbered, Supreme, you cannot win this war without an army of wolves.

— We have an army of wolves hungry for revenge. A single command and they swarmed across the city, destroying everyone in their path, human or otherwise, nothing can stop a savage wolf—it was Aiden who took the lead.

Alina slammed her fist down on a marble altar, cracking it down the middle.

— We're not going to surrender the city without fighting to the death first.

— So we're going to kill you all and take the city,— I warned.

Kai laughed at my threat.

— You're strong and powerful, wolf, I'll admit that, but you can't fight a whole supernatural faction. Accept that the Crescents lost and keep warming your partner's bed.

I turned the wolf pendant between my fingers.

— As long as my bloodline lives on, we will never stop fighting to regain control of the city, no matter how long it takes, you will fall.

— We may fall, but we'll take you with us,— Alina assured. — Nothing will make me happier than taking you to burn in hell.

I'm going to kill this bitch.

I will love to see you bathed in her blood.

— If you choose to face us, we will hunt you all down, starting with the spawn of the Alpha Crescent,— Kai told my brother. — I'm going to rip your pup out of your partner's dog's womb and eat it in front of you, what do you think, Aiden?

The blood in my veins turned to ice and I had never seen Aiden so out of control as he charged at Kai, knocking him to the ground and throwing punches at his face. The vampire laughed as he was beaten, stoking my brother's anger. If Kai thought he could threaten my family and get away with it, he was sorely mistaken, I knew how Constantine brothers had a special bond and thinking about it, I jumped on Alina, taking the vampire by surprise by sinking my fangs into her neck, injecting my venom. Deadly in your system.

Alina's scream made Kai stop laughing, and my brother punched the vampire's chest, taking his heart in his hands, making him choke on his own blood. Jack approached calmly with his hands in his pants pockets and in a deadly voice said:

— I don't care about the consequences of killing you two, in fact the world would be better off without the scum of your bloodline.

Alina and Kai had signed their own death warrant by attending that meeting, we didn't want peace with the vampires, because we knew that we would never get a true peace treaty with that species acting honestly, no, the vampires would only relinquish control of the city in front of a greater and uncontrolled power.

— There is no cure for venom from a Labonair bite,— Aiden reminded, nodding toward Alina who writhed on the ground from the venom in her blood.

— Your little sister doesn't have long to live, Kai,— Jack chirped. — But there's still a chance for you, what do you say?

Kai's irises took on a dark hue.

— You better kill me, Supreme, because if you let me live, I'll come back and take revenge on all of you,— Kai slurred, drenched in his own blood.

Aiden sank his claws into Kai's heart.

— You threatened my son,— he whispered, shuddering with rage, pure terror in his eyes. — And you'll die for it.

With a fatal blow, Aiden ripped out the heart of one of the last survivors of the Constantine lineage and ate it before Alina, she let out a shrill scream and cried violently after losing her brother, even though she knew that she had little time left to live. I looked into the vampire's red eyes as I saw black veins crawl up her neck.

— Spread out what happened here, and tell them the wolves are back to take over the city. Enjoy your last hours of life, Alina Constantino.

Silence fell on the Cathedral of St Louis, the blood of the Constantine twins ran down the altar of the church and spread over the tiled floor, forming a morbid and frightening scene. I looked down at my bloodstained hands and didn't dare cringe at the dirty deeds I was willing to do to save my people.

— What do you think, Gaspar?— Jack asked the old man who just watched the scene without moving a muscle. — Will the warlocks fight with us to eliminate the vampires and regain control of the city?

My partner was brilliant, I had laughed until I was breathless when he told me his genius plan to lure the Constantine twins to a meeting only to brutally kill them, thus gaining the trust and loyalty of the wizards, Gaspar would be an ally , especially after our last trump card.

— Was this all part of your plan, Jackson?— the elder asked quietly.

— We will never have peace with the vampires.

— You know what you just did, don't you?— He waged a war that will never end.

— That war started a long time ago when the vampires helped the rebels attack my pack,— my brother replied.

Blood trickled from Aiden's mouth, he didn't seem to care. The metallic taste of Alina's bad blood was on my tongue and it was horrible, by the moon.

— Why do you want our help?

Jack took off his jacket and tossed it onto one of the wooden benches, showing off the tribal tattoos on his right arm.

— Wolves and witches have lived in peace for many years, we've been natural allies and enemies of vampires for centuries.

— That didn't answer my question, Supreme, what do you really want?

My partner's face was an unreadable mask as he said:

— I want to break the Crescent curse, the safety of the wolves is my priority.

Gaspar nodded in agreement.

— We weren't responsible for this, you know that.
