26: Passing By
"Sister, I brought a classmate home!" Once again, Bai Ya excitedly opened the door, only to see an empty living room.
The little girl was stunned. When her eyes glanced to the side, even her sister's shoes were nowhere to be found.
Gone out?
A note was placed on the dining table. Bai Ya picked it up and looked at it, her facial expression becoming quite interesting.
"I went out to eat with Qianqian."
Brief and to the point.
So, she was abandoned by her sister?
Once or twice, it was always like this. Bai Ya was getting angry!
"Little Ya's sister isn't home?" the girl Bai Ya had invited asked quietly.
Bai Ya nodded, saying with some regret, "Yeah, Sister went out to eat with her friend."
The cute black-haired girl just smiled indifferently. "Then, can I taste Little Ya's cooking?"
"Eh? I can't cook, and there aren't enough ingredients at home." Bai Ya shook her head. She would have liked to eat at home too, but even a clever woman can't cook without rice. "That stupid sister, she went out without even telling me."
"Haha, isn't it a bit bad to talk behind your sister's back?" the black-haired girl asked cheerfully. "I wouldn't dare do that."
"Why? Is Little Qi's sister scary?"
Little Qi nodded with a grave expression. "Very scary, super scary."
She would never forget the experience of being hung from a tree for a whole day because of talking carelessly. It was truly a case of calling to heaven with no response, calling to earth with no answer.
And there was a crowd of people watching as her sister used a whip as thick as a forearm to spin her around like a spinning top.
"Anyway, super scary." Little Qi shivered. "Let's not talk about it anymore. Let's go out to eat."
"Okay, I know all about where the good food is nearby. I can show Little Qi around the area."
...
"Achoo!" Leticia, crouching in a small alley, sneezed hard. "Who's talking bad about me?"
"There are quite a few people who don't like you." Bai Ling stated the facts plainly from the side.
Leticia's reputation wasn't exactly good. There were more people in this world who wanted to eliminate her than just Bai Ling, but those people didn't have Bai Ling's strength, so all they could do was curse Leticia behind her back.
Just like how Leticia used to stick needles in dolls with "Sword Saint" written on them.
Both were forms of impotent rage.
"It's different. The kind of bad-mouthing that makes me sneeze isn't ordinary bad-mouthing. It has to be from someone close to me." Leticia rubbed her chin and thought for a moment, coming up with a suspect. "Probably that damn girl Qila."
"Didn't you say you had a good relationship with your sister?"
"Good is good, but she has more than a few complaints about me." Leticia decided not to delve deeper into this topic. "When are those little brats going to show up?"
The sky had completely darkened by now, and the time was gradually approaching eight o'clock at night.
Leticia and Bai Ling had come here to wait after finishing dinner, and counting the time, they had been waiting for about an hour.
"The time is almost up." Bai Ling looked at her phone and answered.
At this moment, both of them had changed into combat gear specially customized by Bai Ling's old friend, emphasizing convenience and mystery.
Thick robes completely covered their bodies, and huge hoods made their faces almost impossible to see clearly in the darkness.
Not to mention that for safety, both wore masks.
"Your human equipment is indeed quite good." Leticia praised sincerely.
This outfit was much more comfortable than the pile of dresses she had among the demons. The robe looked thick but was actually quite light and breathable.
Under the robe was a combat suit that protected almost all the vital points of the body. The material was excellent and had good flexibility.
Even wearing it casually, others wouldn't notice anything unusual.
The only drawback was that this outfit came with a skirt.
If she really let loose and fought, Leticia's pale white legs would probably be clearly visible to others, which annoyed her a bit.
Though this problem wasn't without solutions.
"There's still time. Are you really not going to wear stockings?" Bai Ling asked.
That's right. To protect the girls' legs, the human combat logistics department had thoughtfully prepared specially made long stockings for battle.
These stockings were no less defensive than other equipment and were even more aesthetically pleasing, making them beloved by many female ability users.
"No way, I'd rather die than wear that stuff." Leticia said through gritted teeth. "Why are mine white stockings while yours are black?"
Was this mocking Leticia for having too petite a figure?
"Uh, what I was told is that the equipment given to you is the opposite of your appearance." Bai Ling explained. "For example, my equipment is black, while yours is white."
"So I have to wear all white and be a pretty boy!" Leticia really wanted to eliminate those logistics people. "Should we also take names like the Black and White Duo?"
"That's not necessarily a bad idea."
"...Heh heh."
