4: Confrontation
"Sister... you're back?" Little Ya lowered her head and slowly moved to Bai Ling's side.
Speaking of which, the sisters Bai Ling and Bai Ya looked nothing like sisters at first glance. Although Bai Ya had the surname Bai, her hair color was pure black like Leticia's.
This little girl had very ordinary hair and eye colors, unlike Bai Ling, this freak with white hair and red eyes who looked like a monster.
"Yes, I'm back." Bai Ling reached out to touch her sister's face, but Bai Ya stepped back, leaving Bai Ling's hand frozen in mid-air.
Leticia's eyes darted between the two sisters. It seemed like Little Ya and this overpowered character didn't have a good relationship?
"Do you know how long you've been away from home?" Bai Ya took a deep breath and mustered the courage to question her.
Bai Ling showed a thoughtful expression. After more than ten seconds, she gave her answer: "Four years and five months."
"Pfft—" Hearing this number, Leticia, who had just taken a sip of water, sprayed it all out.
The water mist splashed onto Bai Ling's face, making the Sword Saint's expression turn stormy.
Her right hand unconsciously moved to her waist, and vaguely, Leticia saw the shadow of a sword.
"Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to." Survival instinct made Leticia immediately pull out several tissues from a nearby box. She quickly ran to Bai Ling and wiped away the water droplets she had just sprayed on her face.
She couldn't help it—she had been too shocked. How old was Bai Ya? She was just starting high school!
Bai Ling had left four years ago, meaning she had abandoned her sister when Bai Ya was still in elementary school. What kind of thing was that?
Even Leticia, who was famously a trashy sister among the demon race, had cared deeply for her sister when her sister was a teenager.
"No wonder I haven't seen you these past three years. Don't you have vacations or anything?" Throwing the wet tissue into the trash can, Leticia asked casually.
She had moved here three years ago and became friends with Little Ya two years ago. During this time, Little Ya had always gone to and from school alone, so Leticia had always thought Little Ya was an only child with busy parents.
"Vacation?" Bai Ling shook her head. "No."
Her life was monotonous and boring. Wherever non-human races caused trouble, she would go there to cut them down with one sword, then rush non-stop to the next place to cut again.
In four years, she had circled the human world nearly ten times.
"You're really something as a sister." Leticia complained.
Being mocked by the Demon King, Bai Ling couldn't keep face. "So you're saying you have experience?"
"You really asked the right person." Leticia puffed out her nearly non-existent chest. "I really do have experience."
"Sister Qianqian has a sister too?" Bai Ya asked in surprise. She had known Sister Qianqian for two years but had never heard her mention her sister.
Just like how she had never mentioned her sister.
"Yes, Qila is a very cute child, but unfortunately she's grown up now and doesn't listen to me anymore." Leticia said with a troubled expression. If not for Qila, she wouldn't have run here and walked into a trap.
Hearing the name Qila, Bai Ling's eyes narrowed slightly. Before being forced to retire, Qila Infinoi had also been on her little notebook.
This demon princess had inherited her sister's ambitions and had been causing trouble for humans both openly and secretly. If she hadn't caused any major incidents, Bai Ling would have rushed to the Demon Realm to give this princess a sword long ago.
"Can I meet Sister Qianqian's sister?" Bai Ya's eyes sparkled. In her understanding, Leticia was a sister only a few years older than her, so Leticia's sister should be around her age.
This question made Leticia fall silent. Letting Qila meet Little Ya wasn't impossible, but Leticia couldn't guarantee what would happen afterward.
Unlike herself, Qila was a pure demon who had no goodwill toward humans whatsoever.
And if Qila found out where she was hiding, her leisurely days would be over... well, they seemed to be over now anyway.
Leticia glared viciously at Bai Ling, leaving the Sword Saint somewhat puzzled.
Is the Demon King trying to hint at something? she thought.
"Lei... Qianqian's family situation is rather special. Little Ya, don't put Qianqian in a difficult position." After thinking for a while, Bai Ling believed the Demon King was hinting for her to help resolve this.
Perfect—she also didn't want her sister to have more involvement with the demon race.
This disappointed Bai Ya, but from her sister's words, she caught some noteworthy information: "Sister, you know Sister Qianqian?"
From the beginning, she had felt this way—there was a particularly strong smell of gunpowder between her sister and Sister Qianqian, as if they might start fighting at any moment.
"Know her? Of course I know her. I'd recognize her even if she turned to ash." Leticia laughed coldly. "Isn't that right, Miss Bai?"
"Too bad the one turning to ash will be you, not me." Bai Ling looked coldly at Leticia, showing no intention of backing down.
