46: Restraint
"You have this kind of hobby too?" Looking coldly at Leticia's little hand that didn't know where to go, Bai Ling was silent for a moment before asking.
The timing and location of Bai Ling's appearance was really unfortunate—right when Leticia couldn't pull back her force. Fortunately, Leticia still retained a bit of rationality and didn't use much strength in this palm strike.
Otherwise, Bai Ling's chest might have been flattened.
Ah, yes, that's right. Leticia's hand had hit Bai Ling's not-very-large white buns right on target.
Not only had it hit, but the magical power attached to her palm had quickly corroded Bai Ling's clothes, making Bai Ling's current attire quite... exposed.
"An accident, this was an accident. Who told you to teleport directly into my house?" Leticia defended herself with feigned composure.
She wasn't wrong, okay? If Bai Ling hadn't whooshed in with teleportation, this slap would have already landed on that stupid girl.
Xue'er sighed helplessly. The moment Bai Ling appeared, she had run behind Emily and given her a hand chop, precisely hitting Emily's back of the head and knocking this girl unconscious.
"Your Majesty, should I go throw her away first?" Seeing that they wouldn't be able to get any information today, Xue'er asked Leticia how to handle this little girl.
After all, she was one of their own. They couldn't kill her to silence her. Xue'er didn't want to kill such a good girl who was utterly loyal to the demon race.
"Speaking of which, who is she?" Bai Ling turned to look at Emily, who was unconscious with her head tilted. This was also a demon—why was she tied to a chair by Leticia and Xue'er?
And from the situation just now, it seemed Leticia was about to punish this girl.
"A little thief who broke in. I suspect my sister knows I'm here, so I caught her to question her for you." Leticia explained with an annoyed expression. "I went to your house to find you earlier, but you weren't home. On the way back, I ran into her."
"You were looking for me?" Bai Ling had no reaction to someone breaking into her house. Instead, another sentence from Leticia caught her interest.
Leticia rolled her eyes. Was now the time to care about such things?
"Shouldn't you be concerned about why this person would sneak in while you weren't home? She turned your kitchen upside down."
"So I came to find you." Bai Ling indicated she had come for this very matter. "I roughly know who's behind this person, it's just..." She didn't know if she came for herself or for Leticia.
"Little Ya and I went out to eat with Little Ya's friend, Su Qi, today. This kind of thing happened as soon as we left. It should be her doing." Bai Ling shared her speculation.
She should have come for herself. After all, Leticia had never shown her face, while she had close contact with Su Qi.
Su Qi's attitude toward her was also quite strange—she seemed very afraid but also mixed with some curiosity. In this situation, it was normal for her to send someone to secretly investigate herself.
"That demon?" Leticia raised an eyebrow. "That makes sense. So she didn't come looking for me?"
"The fact that you're hiding here is probably known by even fewer people than those who know my true identity. I haven't been exposed, so you definitely haven't been exposed either." Bai Ling nodded, although Leticia was now only one step away from being exposed.
That lovely Miss Su Qi was still upstairs with Little Ya, cleaning up the kitchen that had been turned into a mess.
"Then it's fine. Xue'er, throw this lump away, throw it far away." In a much better mood, Leticia waved at Xue'er, indicating the maid should dispose of Emily.
"Yes." Xue'er untied the ropes, then hoisted Emily, who wasn't exactly small, onto her shoulder in one motion. "I'll be going then."
"Go quickly and come back quickly."
"Understood."
Xue'er leaped out, jumping from the living room window to outside, melting into the thick night.
As Leticia's personal attendant, flight was naturally Xue'er's specialty.
"However, since that demon has already posed a threat to you, why not eliminate her?" After Xue'er left, Leticia asked Bai Ling. Wasn't this guy the type to draw her sword and slash whenever she encountered non-humans? How come she had changed her nature now?
Bai Ling not killing herself was understandable. After all, although she, Leticia, couldn't beat Bai Ling, it would still be difficult for Bai Ling to kill her.
Once they started fighting here, the entire Central City would turn to ruins. Bai Ling didn't dare take that risk, so Leticia dared to live so close to Bai Ling.
Of course, if Bai Ling really didn't care about the cost, Leticia really couldn't escape. So all along, Leticia had tried her best to go along with Bai Ling's wishes and avoid direct confrontation.
Between the two of them, they maintained this kind of fragile balanced relationship.
But this relationship was built on strength. Leticia didn't understand why Bai Ling would be so restrained when facing a non-human she could easily kill.
