"Get out! I'm calling off this relationship. Leave my dorm room now." Hunter bellowed at the top of his voice.
This was his sixth relationship in one year and all had crumbled like a pack of badly arranged cards, like a sand castle washed away by the waves. He knew he couldn't love them, so from the start of the relationship he had told them, no strings attached. They'd agreed to the terms, but soon they began professing their undying love for him.
The girl reached out and touched his hands, but he yanked free with such sudden force that the girl jumped in fright.
"But I told you. I told you earlier that there would be no strings attached. Now I won't be held responsible for your heartbreak."
The girl looked at him pleadingly. "Now look into my eyes and tell me. Tell me that you felt nothing. The hugs, the kisses and the..."
Hunter laughed and looked at the girl as though she were crazy. "Oh! You think I haven't gotten enough of that with other girls?"
The girl's mouth dropped agape. She felt like someone had just punched her spirit out of her body. She wanted to faint now. No! She wanted to die. Hunter was her life, and without him, she couldn't see the possibility of remaining alive the next minute.
"Please, Hunter, I could do something about this. We could make it work," she begged.
"I said get out of my dorm room, Jessica."
Ha! Jessica? Another girl's name? He called her another girl's name! He couldn't remember her name, maybe this was why he treated her rudely.
Perhaps Jessica did something wrong to him but she didn't. Maybe if she told him her name, he would look at her again and take her back into his arms.
"Ashley. It's me Ashley!"
"Oh well! I really don't care, Jennifer. Just get out!"
"Not Jennifer, it's Ash!"
"And I said, '' Go. To. Hell!" He was at the brink of exploding.
Speechless, Ashley gathered all that was left of her and scurried out of Hunter's dorm room like a tiny, orphaned baby rat.
Hunter slammed the door behind her then whirled around and leaned on it.
"I definitely won't miss that one!" Hunter mumbled under his breath. She got too emotional too easily. He should have known it would come to this.
"I believe we are meant for each other," she had proclaimed as if she were a seer.
Hunter snickered. Meant for each other indeed! Mumbo jumbo with this one too. Girls had a way of being annoyingly clingy and started seeking a relationship after intimacy. Couldn't they just stick to the agreement, for goodness's sake?
It would be all beautiful at first, but he was different with this one. Right from their first date, she had been looking, starry-eyed at him as though he were a greek god, as though he could reach out and pluck the stars for her.
Well, now that he thought of it, they all did.
He almost smiled when he remembered that when he turned down the proposal of girls that wanted to 'label' what they had. Some would claim that they only agreed to be with him, thinking they could change him. Because of what? It amused him because for Hunter, he definitely didn't deserve it. The people that entered into a contract without making all their intentions known were the ones that deserved the bashing.
He recalled how one of his ex-girlfriends, soon after some time with him, started telling him of other guys, who were rushing after her and how privileged he was to have her in his life. It wasn't until later that he found out that it was just a ploy to make him jealous.
He scoffed audibly. Jealousy was far from his heart except when it came to one rudely beautiful girl.
Hunter gazed at the seat the gal sat on before her fantasy talk and scowled. He would probably change that seat, anything to get the memory of the ugly looking girl out of his head.
She was beautiful. In actual fact, very beautiful. Unfortunately, Hunter couldn't see it. What was her name again? Amelia? Angela? Audrey? Something like Ashley.
"I am definitely a mess!" Hunter said as he shoved his fingers into his disheveled hair. Uttering a four-letter word, he sat on the cool floor with his back still leaning against the door.
"But must it always get to this?" After everything, why the emptiness? Maybe it was because he still loved Megan, but why did she reject him? Wasn't he good enough for her? She had told him she had someone better than him.
Hunter knew he was handsome. With blonde hair and blue eyes, ladies were dying for him. He was rich too. But she told him she found a richer dude.
What if Megan had accepted him? What great life would it have been? Would her love be able to make him whole again?
But Megan was not Hunter's main problem. His addiction was eating on him again. Unable to resist the urge, Hunter sprang to his feet, put on his leather jacket and scurried out of the dorm room.

After work hours, Ifes went to her locker room to change out of her work apparel. Coming out of the locker room, her eyes darted around the open restaurant, but she didn't see Ayo. This was unusual of him, she wondered. He always arrived before the end of her shift.
She quickly reached for her purse and pulled out her phone to place a call across to him. She had ten missed calls. She was shocked to see that eight of those calls were from her driver for the evening, Ayo.
Her thoughts wandered for a while. Ayo usually came before the end of her shift, but today she was getting his missed call instead.
He picked the call after the second ring. "Hello, fine girl, how far?"
"Ugly boy, I'm fine. Bia, why do you want to kill my phone's battery with your call?"
"Well, it's not my fault that you weren't picking your calls," Ayo said. "I'm sorry I can't make it, you'll have to walk home alone this evening.
"You better have a good explanation for that."
"I do. I have been called by Ian to accompany him to the hospital. Turns out one of the boys that attends the fellowship was involved in a car accident"
"Jesus!" exclaimed ifes. "How is he now? Hope he did not sustain any fatal injuries?"
"Nah, don't worry, he's alright. Just some careless driving by the cab man."
"Oh! I see. Say hi to him on my behalf."
"He'll hear. What about you, Ifes? Hope you can manage?"
"Don't worry, I'll be fine "
"Sure?"
"Sure, I am no kid"
"Okay, okay. Be careful and call me when you get home."
"Okay, I will surely do that."
"Bye."
Ifes dropped the phone back into her bag and walked out of the restaurant exhausted and in need of a refreshing sleep.
