Chapter The fight

Becky darted closer to Ifes and slapped her hard across her face, making her stagger backwards gasping in pain. "This is for crossing your boundaries." Becky said and gave her a punch on her nose. "This is for coming between Chloe and Alexa."

Ifes winced in pain; her nose was now seriously bleeding and she was struggling to breathe.

Becky smirked, clearly enjoying what she was seeing. "Dear Christian girl, what was it the Bible said again? When I slap you on one cheek, turn the other cheek, huh? This means I will have a good time dealin' with ya today!"

"Please let's talk this over," Ifes begged. "There must be a misunderstanding somewhere."

"Oh, just shut up!" Becky struck Ifes across the face again. "Did I tell you that your voice irritates me?"

At this point, Ifes knew it was a matter of life and death. If she allowed this girl she would beat her to death, but if she defended herself: she might be alive to fight for another day.

"And this is for..." Ifes grabbed Becky's hand as she was about to give her another slap, and whirled her around before pushing her hard against the wall.

Becky rolled back on her feet and squeezed her hands into fists to punch Ifes on the stomach but Ifes held her hands and twisted it in such an angle that she groaned out loud.

Letting go of Becky, Ifes moved to the other end of the wall as she tried to catch her breath. Becky's eyes moved around the room and it landed on a wooden plank. Lifting it up to arm's length, she flung it to Ifes who dodged it.

"I'll kill you!" Becky said, seething.

Ifes made a swift turn and reached for the wooden plank. She picked up the plank and sent it straight to Becky. Again Becky cried out as she fell to the ground.

"Listen here, we've got to stop this right now, I'm begging!" Ifes said. But Becky would have none of that as she quickly jerked up and grabbed Ifes by her hair. Ifes struggled to pull free as Becky tried taking her down to the floor.

"Let go of me!" Ifes yelled as she mustered her last strength and punched Becky on her stomach with full force.

Becky cried as she abruptly let go of her and landed on a glass table that shattered underneath Becky's weight. Shards of broken glass dug into Becky's skin; blood oozed out.

Seeing what she had done, Ifes rushed up to the girl. "Hey! I'm sorry. It wasn't intentional, hold on, let's get you to the hospital so you can be treated."

As Ifes drew closer, Becky saw it as an opportunity to react. "You must be a fool to think that I would accept any help from you." Becky took one of the shattered glasses and made to stab Ifes in her stomach.

Again, by an inch of goodluck, Ifes successfully made away. As Becky sprang to her feet, something in Ifes' head bellowed that she should run away. "Get out of here right now!"

As she yanked open the door, Becky grabbed hold of her and both of them started exchanging blows. They continued fighting until they were out of the cottage. Ifes thought her escape would not be long again. Good! Very good! She would continue defending herself till she got to the gate. But Ifes didn't think of the possibility that the duo might have locked the gate and shoved the keys into their pockets. Well, when she got to that bridge, she'd cross it.

The building was large and beautiful but she didn't have the luxury to drink in the magnificent sight. If she were here under normal circumstances, she would savor each moment.

Ifes was dumbfounded when she saw Becky's oncoming feet hung Mid-way. There were other things she noticed as well. Becky's body was rigid, eyes and mouth agape, obviously staring at something that caused her terror.

Could it be her? No, Becky wouldn't care if she died now.

Following Becky's gaze, she saw Alexandria sprawled on the compound's red marble floor, twitching and struggling for her life. Ifes darted her gaze towards Becky as she pointed to Alexandria. "What is wrong with her?"

"She—she's..." Too terrified to explain further, Becky ran towards her friend. "Get up, Alexa!" She touched Alexa and could feel the spasm of the muscles whacking through her body. "Oh, no! you've gotten one of your seizures again?"

"Seizures?" Ifes asked as she walked towards the duo. "Is she epileptic?"

As she hovered around in concern for her now-suffering abductors, a voice in her head yelled, "And what do you think you are doing? This is the best time for you to escape. Come on, run, Girl, run!"

As she thought of her escape, she realised that indeed this was the best time to leave these girls who did nothing but harm her.

But the problem was, she was troubled by Alexandria's illness. How could she close her heart to the beckoning that she felt inside of her?

"Let's take her to the hospital," Ifes said.

Becky gazed up at her, surprise written all over her face. She wasn't sure if she heard well. Maybe she did, but it was certainly not from Ifes. Ifes the same person she had planned to torture and had even wrestled with.

Ifes hunkered down beside Alexandria and touched her gently. "Don't worry, you'll be fine, okay!"

Lifting up her gaze from Alexa to Becky, she called out to her. "Let's take her to the hospital now!"

Becky could not stifle her surprise, but did as she was told. Both ladies helped Alexa to the backseat of her car.

"I'm going to get the keys now!" Becky said as she hurried into the cottage and returned with the car keys almost immediately.

She entered the driver's seat, and slid in the key into the ignition; the engine came to life and she zoomed off. Ifes sat in the back seat with Alexandria's head on her lap as she prayed quietly.

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

As Becky entered the hospital's parking lot, she opened the door and without bothering to close it, she bolted in through the hospital's entrance door to the lobby.

Some group of nurses rushed out of the hospital with a stretcher as Becky led the way. Seeing Ifes And Becky's state, they brought out two more stretchers and carried both ladies inside the hospital as well.

Ifes had lost a lot of blood. She felt lifeless as she blacked out again. The next time she woke up, she was in a hospital bed. She tried to recall the previous events and how it landed her in a hospital bed.

One of the nurses noticed her movement and spoke up. "It's good to see you're awake now. Hope you feel better?" The nurse pressed her wrist, checking for her pulse.

"I guess so. What of Alexandria and Becky? The last thing I remembered was that we were all pulled into a stretcher."

"Yes, you were. The police are outside the door. They would like to speak with you."

Ifes body jerked slightly. "But why?"

"They would like to know how you sustained the injuries. Can you remember anything that happened before that?" The nurse pointed to the injuries on her arm. "How did you sustain these?"

Ifes was in a dilemma. Should she go ahead and tell the cops what happened? She knew it would make them arrest Alexandria and Becky. What next? They might end up in jail for attempted murder and torture.

"Umm! Nurse, I don't think I want to remember anything right now."

"Okay... This means you remember quite alright, but you don't want to talk about it?"

"No, I just don't want to remember and I don't want to talk either." She darted her gaze away from the nurse. "Alexandria and Becky are my friends. You've got to get us discharged as soon as you are done treating us."

"But Miss Ifes, you can't let the cops go without giving them any valid information about you or your friends. What if your life is in some sort of danger out there?"

"Do not worry too much, nurse. My life is not in any danger."

The nurse knew she was hiding something from her but decided not to pry again. The nurse touched her brow with her thumb. "Rest now, okay, I'll be back."

Letting go of Ifes, she walked out of the ward. The cops came in shortly after. Ifes heard the sound of their shoes louder and louder as they approached her bed.
