Chapter 14. THE OVERHEAD ROOM

If someone you didn't know asked you to meet in a quiet alley at the station without anyone accompanying you, would you come? Better yet, don't come. but Luke is different. It was because he was curious. This is a fundamental logic lesson. Luke didn't know her, didn't know her name, and even though the girl in the black coat had once been kind to Luke, that didn't mean Luke could trust her. Moreover, his way of informing was also outside of society's norms; accidentally crashing or by breaking someone's bedroom window. But more important was the fact that he knew Luke's name! Terrifying.

If she was doing it because she had a crush on Luke, then it could be assumed that she was a far greater dope than Valentina Miller. Huh, Luke's previous suspicion about that mysterious girl, should be dispelled after last night. So Luke wanted to make sure for himself by coming to see him. Point.

" Lookey, you're alive! Thank God!"

Amy Lee immediately jumped on Luke's body and hugged him tightly, while Andrew gave a worried look after hearing the incident last night. The couple asked for confirmation about the truth of what happened in the woods yesterday with all the details and it was making Luke almost out of patience having to explain it to Amy and Andrew so many times.

"Okay, let me confirm one thing. So, Bowleans and her friends admit that they were intercepted by a pack of wolves and then they ran back to the shed where Rei was locked?" Amy confirmed it for the fifth time.

"That's how it is."

"Are they in their right minds? Running?! Ohoho… how slow can a wolf be, that they can't catch them all? And you mentioned that Dunhall had fallen, right?"

"Yeah. I've said it more than twice. So please don't ask again, Amy." Luke was desperate now.

"He should have been eaten by the wolves, you know. Ah, but never mind. At least you and Su… what's their name?"

"Suzurao. Rei Suzurao."

"Yeah, he is. At least you guys are safe. It's just I don't get it, why are you being so mean to Suzurao? I mean, you could be the next target of the Bowleans, Luke. I bet that Patricia will definitely tell Adam, her older brother."

“Yeah, stop being nice to people,” said Amy.

Luke shrugged. "I can't just sit idly by watching him be treated like that by the Bowleans and her gang. I don't know. I'm a good person, you know."

Amy put on an amused look and rolled her eyes, but we were soon laughing together.

And thinking about what Andrew had said about the Bowleans, Luke realized he had a point. Could have targeted him. Yes, she did.

Luke was having lunch in the cafeteria with Amy and Andrew when Patricia and Adam Bowleans walked by their table. Then very deliberately, the rugby captain dropped his dinner tray right on top of Luke's head and said in a fake tone.

"Oops, sorry . My hands are slippery."

All eyes were on Luke. Amy gave a little shriek, while Andrew choked. Luke, who was in too much shock , could only gape for a few seconds. Trying to understand what happened. Before long, I heard laughter from Patricia Bowleans' gang and some students in the canteen.

Feeling angry, Luke looks shaky and intends to get back at Adam Bowleans. But before Luke had even had a chance to do that, Adam had slammed on the table where Luke, Andrew and Amy were saying, “Why? Are you angry? Want to fight with me? I heard that you-"

Adam had not finished his sentence when from behind, Valentina Miller had grabbed his wrist.

"Stop it, Adam. Don't get into trouble at school."

Adam turned and looked at Valentina, then looked at Luke and turned to Valentina again. Smiling meaningfully.

“Oh, I remember now. Isn't he your deadbeat ex-boyfriend, Val?”

“Shut up and go, Adam. Don't bother him,” Valentina replied in a fierce tone.

Adam just laughed from his nose then touched Valentina's cheek and left.

"Are you okay?" Valentina asked Luke.

Luke didn't answer, he got up and left the canteen. Amy motioned for Valentina to go after Luke and she did. Valentina had been looking everywhere for Luke and apparently the boy was at the edge of the sports field, hunched over with his head in the shower.

"Patricia must have told Adam. Well, we'd better not get too involved with the Bowleans from now on," Valentina said, helping to remove the scrambled eggs from Luke's hair. "I understand if you want to help Suzurao, but if you end up being targeted by the Bowleans, he won't let you go. Or… do you actually like Suzurao?"

Luke lifted his head. Letting the drops of water flow down the face with eyes fixed on Valentina.

“Whether I like it or not is none of your business Val.”

"I'm just asking."

"You have no right to ask such things. Just think of the time you slept with Adam and you could do as much as you wanted now without getting in my way. You two match because you're both trash. So better hold on close to me. You make me sick, you know."

In a moment, Valentina was silent. But then he put on an annoyed face, turned right up the road, away from Luke. Luke knew he was wrong for making Valentina an outlet for his anger, but he didn't want to apologize. Not when Luke wasn't feeling well. Everything that happened yesterday, was enough to make her feel bad. Coupled with the behavior of Patricia Bowleans which increasingly triggers emotions.

So that afternoon, instead of going back to class, Luke chose to leave school. Picking up the backpack and ignoring Andrew calling out to him, he still walked out.

On the way, Luke stopped at a restaurant and ordered a sandwich and a cappuccino. Outside, it was raining briefly so Luke was grateful to be in the right place at the right time. Seeing the rain makes my anger subside. Then, I thought about Valentina and immediately took my cellphone to send a short message. Surely after he thought about this for a few minutes.

' Hey, Val. I'm sorry for saying bad words to you earlier. I was mad at the Bowleans but took it out on you instead. Sorry.'

And after thirty minutes, still no reply from him. I don't know if Valentina was still offended by Luke's words or because she hadn't read the message. That's enough. The important thing is Luke has apologized.

*** Now the rain had stopped so Luke got up to pay and head out. Several times, Luke almost slipped because of the slippery pavement and regretted why he forgot his coat in the school locker. Arriving at the underground station, Luke was immediately grateful because the weather in here was warmer than he expected. Meanwhile, the train came in about five minutes, so Luke took a seat on the lounger. Not many people at this hour. Luke checked around. On the left, there were two black men standing by the platform beam jokingly pushing each other. He laughed until the sound of his laughter poisoned him into a smile. Not far from the two people, there was an Indian man standing waiting for the train with his arms folded. His face looked stiff and wrinkled. Then on the right, there is a mother and her toddler sitting in a trolley. The mother was on the phone while holding the trolley in one hand while the toddler continued to chatter even though her mother didn't respond. And there's also…

"I thought you weren't coming, Luke."

Luke turned his head back to his left and immediately held his breath. Damn it, damn it. It was the girl in the black jacket. She had sat right beside him. Luke forgot it was two o'clock.

She continued, "But, didn't I ask you to come to aisle 3, right?"

Luke still couldn't speak. Thinking how the girl had found him so quickly and, again, appeared so suddenly. Luke u understood that there was something he really wanted to talk to Luke about, judging from the way he had seen them several times. But, Luke didn't know that this stalker girl was so terrible. Did she spend day stalking Luke? It's creepy .

"Yeah, I should have met you from the start, just so you know. Because lately I can't approach you because…"

Just then, her voice was drowned out by the hiss of a train arriving at the station. The ground beneath their feet shook and it gave Luke the idea to get away from her. Luke got up, ran towards the opened train door, but was stopped because the girl in the black jacket apparently held his hand. Immediately she screamed.

"You must take responsibility!"

Luke who was surprised, turned his head and looked at the girl with a look of confusion and astonishment.

“You… just said what? You're crazy, huh?"

screams made some of the passengers inside look outside and the two men in black looked at us suspiciously. Plus, the girl put on a pitiful face. So, the two men walked closer. One of them asked Luke threateningly.

"Hey, yo! What did you do to him, dude ?"

"I? I don't… oh, my.”

"Did this boy do something bad to you, Miss?"

“Yeah… he…” the girl slightly glanced at Luke and continued her sentence, “Well, he wants to leave me here alone.”

The two men also reprimanded Luke and because they were afraid that they would be beaten up by this misunderstanding, Luke was forced to get on with the girl on the train when it arrived. Now, Luke knows how cunning this mysterious girl is.

"It sucks," Luke muttered.
