There was one person Luke didn't expect to see at visiting hours. It was obvious that she was Valentina Miller , who would come in three times a week and bring all sorts of superfluous things like flowers and socks and knit hats and dolls. All of which are always confiscated by the officers because they are considered unsafe to give to detainees. Luke laughs at Valentina's stupidity and bad luck. Even so, Valentina is not someone who easily gives up. He came again and again and again. Then confiscated again and again and again. Stupid Miller .
then there's another Amygori, safe there's one person Luke didn't expect to come to visit; namely Jade West.
"How did you know I was here? You're a professional stalker, I see," I said when I saw Jade West coming to visit. He was dressed normally this time. Dressed in jeans, a plain T-shirt and a baseball cap.
He also took out a torn sheet from you and showed it to Luke.
"It's on the news. How could I not know. It's been all over Vermont,” he read the scrap of paper flatly, “A high school girl assaulted a student by pushing him from the third floor. Based on eyewitnesses, the two had been involved in a feud before the unfortunate incident occurred. Well, so ?” he threw the paper on the table.
Luke gulped. Feeling stupid. Of course the news must be spread, right? after all, it's not often that electrifying events happen in Hydra Cost .
"Then why did you come?" he asked.
"Is there a prohibition for me to visit prisoners?"
"Not. But, you must have some intention. It's impossible for you to come aimlessly, right?”
Jade took off her hat and brushed her hair back. Exhale while looking away.
"Okay. I'll get straight to the point. I came here to tell you a secret about you, Luke?"
"My secrets? What do you mean?"
Not answering right away, Jade looked around as if to make sure no one was listening to them . Then he leaned forward and tried to get as close as possible to the holes in the glass divider.
He said, or rather boasted, "You are a Werewolf ."
brain paused as if it was too hard to process Jade's words. Two seconds later, Luke came to his senses and reflexively laughed.
"What are you saying? I'm a were… werewolf ? Ha ha ha…"
"Why am I laughing?"
"Are there any restrictions for me to laugh?" Luke reversed his earlier sentence. Even so, the expression on Jade's face still looked very serious.
"You laugh because you don't know anything, Luke. Strange."
“You're the weird one, you moron! Is your brain damaged or what, huh?! Or have you just smoked weed to the point of imagining I was a werewolf?”
“You must believe. I'm not lying.”
"No one will believe you, idiot. Let's say, one person believed your talk that I was a werewolf. Oh, my goodness, if you told me that I had a million dollar inheritance or that I was actually the son of the King of Sweden, that would make more sense than the secret that I'm a werewolf! Jade, trust me; your brain is messed up.”
Jade didn't respond to the insults and just looked him straight in the eyes cold and enigmatic. To be honest, Luke got a little creeped out. If there wasn't a glass barrier or he wasn't in prison like this, maybe Luke would have immediately run away from him because he felt uncomfortable.
“Wh-why are you looking at me like that, huh?! Are you offended? You're mad? Want to fight, huh?”
Instead of agreeing, Jade just shook her head once.
He said, "Because I gave the same response as you when you were first told."
"What else do you mean?"
"Didn't I already tell you that I can't speak well?"
"Yes, Yes, Yes. Keep trying."
"I am also the same as you. I'm also a werewolf f.”
This time Luke couldn't help himself. He gaped because he really didn't expect to be visited by a madman.
" Well ..." Luke said, "So, is your name Remus Lupine or maybe... Jacob Black—"
"Who are they?" His eyes widened with curiosity
"Oh, you don't know, do you? It's a werewolf in a movie... Never mind, you definitely didn't watch that. You madman.” Luke waved his hand in front of his face. Underestimate it.
"I don't know who you call that, but I know that you are one of the werewolves—"
“Argh…! You've been talking about werewolves, werewolves on! You really are crazy. Been stalking me, terrorizing my house, and now you're trying to drive me completely crazy because it's my trial soon. Is not it?"
"You really can't believe it. Hard too. Looks like Beatrix was right," Jade muttered while rubbing her chin.
"Of course I don't believe in that kind of nonsense, you idiot. Never mind, I'll go. Please don't come again—”
Luke was about to leave when he tried to stop him with a question;
"What if I could provide evidence?"
Luke's body, which had only half stood up, immediately sat up again after being motionless for three minutes.
"What kind of evidence?"
“The medicinal powder I gave you.”
“Ah… that. Since you brought it up, I wanted to ask that too.”
"What?"
“That thing you gave me, was it some kind of illegal drug?”
"Hey, watch your mouth, Luke!" Jade hissed, her eyes wide with dismay. "Wow, you really can't keep your mouth shut, can you? There are a lot of officers here and you say it so lightly.”
"So, it's true, right?"
"No. Just so you know, it's a magic potion made by your older sister.”
"Potion? Is your sister a witch?" Luke said sarcastically.
But Jade gasped strangely. Her eyes widened again, but this time with surprise. “H-how did you know? Oh, you must have guessed, right? Is not it?"
Oh, my goodness, how long does Luke have to put up with this nonsense, anyway?
“Could you just focus on explaining the medicinal powder, Mr. West?”
“Ah, right. Well , it was a potion that my sister made at the beginning of the signs appearing on me. You know, the first sign that would turn us into werewolves. Our fingers and palms. Fingers that will become claws.”
He wiggled his fingers and, for some reason, it got Luke focused enough on his explanation for even a moment.
"What do you mean?"
“You feel that torturous itch, don't you, on your palms. Especially on the fingers and nails. Hence, I gave the medicinal powder to you. Then there's another sign, if you want to know."
In that second, Luke's brain told him to ignore it and walk away, but his feet seemed to insist on staying in place. In addition, Luke's lips reflexively asked, "Another sign?"
Jade smiled a grin.
"Yes. There are some signs, but they don't always appear in every would-be werewolf. In my case, it was itching in the hands, numbness in the body from time to time, fever before the full moon night, and twitching of the face. I guess my signs are milder because my sister always makes the right potions so the pain doesn't get worse. That's how it is. do you understand?”
"Not. I still don't understand. But, well, let's just say I'm okay with that. now what I want to ask is, why are you only saying it now?”
"I've been trying to tell you from the start. However, I am very bothered by your smell.”
"Smell?"
Luke sniffed around. Wow, this girl is an asshole. Already said Luke werewolf, now he says Luke stinks! You're outrageous.
"No. That's not the smell I mean," he said. Luckily he corrected it right away, because if he wasn't, Luke would have pounced on him that very second—yes, that's if Luke really was a werewolf.
Jade continued, “The scent that has lingered around you for the past few weeks. It's very annoying and hurts my sense of smell. So, I try to keep my distance. But, it seems that scent is still around here too, huh?”
“What do you mean, anyway?”
“That, you know, your guard. Did he come to visit recently?”
“Who do you mean, huh? What guard? Now what are you going to brag about?!”
"Wow, bad. You don't even know about something as important as that?"
Luke rolled his eyes. "Okay, you just go home. Time is also about to run out.”
"Okay, okay, I'll say it. Yeah, this is just my guess, but whenever you're around him, it really hurts my sense of smell. My guess is if I'm not mistaken, your guard is that Asian girl .”
Asian girl ?" her brows knit together, “You mean… Rei?”
Jade nodded her head.
