Chapter 67. A LETTER FROM A FRIEND

'Hi, Luke…'

The first two words in the letter that Rei Suzurao wrote to Luke .

'Sorry, we didn't contact you. Not because I don't want to but because I can't. Amy has tried calling the school you are at but we are still not allowed to talk to you. We can only hear from Mr and Mrs. Bright. Even on the day we heard that you were lost in the woods behind the school and were found a few days later, we were only allowed to visit you once. It's a shame you were still unconscious at the time, but we're glad you returned safely.

Well, I will entrust this letter to one of your friends. I heard from him, you guys are roommates. I'm glad you got good friends there. Me and Amy are gonna wait until you get out of your school and have a little party before you get transferred.

From; Rei Suzurao, Amy Lee and her boyfriend and Valentina Miller.'

Ah, it's been a long time since Luke heard the names of these four people. The last time Luke saw them was at his sentencing hearing. So, it's true that Luke misses the four… erm, err… he means Luke's three best friends. Yeah, Valentina Miller still can't be counted as someone Luke can miss. Despite that, Luke wasn't mad at her anymore and… well, never mind. Talking about it is really a bit of a waste of time. It would be better to forget about Valentina and start focusing on the writer of this letter, who was none other than Rei Suzurao.

Actually, Luke never really understood what the word 'deja vu' meant. But due to the incident in the forest yesterday, in the scene where the fox turns into a girl, Luke seems to be starting to understand the meaning of that word. Even though Luke knew that such incidents didn't happen often, but as soon as he saw the fox girl who had eight tails, a flash of memory flashed through his head quickly. Then quickly, making him remember the time when Luke and Rei were friends at first.

Months ago, when the two of us came home from school together. Riding the subway, the train door closed and Luke saw a strange reflection that Luke initially thought was a mistake from his own brain.

The strange vision that Rei had a tail in the reflection, realized clearly in the embodiment that afternoon. Even though until this moment Luke still disputes his belief with this kind of personal opinion.

"Oh, come on . If it's true Rei—if it's true that Rei is a white fox girl—then does she also have that much power? And if she does have power, why doesn't Rei just throw Pamela and the gang of girls away with the power of the wind , instead of giving in and surrendering?"

The only thing that proves that the fox girl is Rei Suzurao, that is, her physical form. Please just say that maybe Luke is hallucinating because he is trapped in the forest with no way home. However, no one can argue with him about the physical characteristics of his own friends.

A petite build with only about five feet tall, long jet-black hair, and narrow shoulders. Plus, the moment the fox girl created an air dome that made her hair flutter, she turned her head slightly, and Luke couldn't doubt that it was a very familiar figure. Rei figure.

That's how it is. Luke was sure.

But, if there are still those who try to deny it, yeah... let's just agree on this understanding; That what protected him was a manifestation of a strong will to stay alive which took the form of a memory of reciprocation of Rei to Luke . That's it.

Now the problem is different. It's no longer about what he saw in the forest, but about what happened afterwards.

Well, let Luke be clear; his back itches.

Do you expect Luke to scratch it? Just so you know, that's a suggestion that's not as easy to do. Because, isn't it known that his back was injured as a result of being dragged along by his own hallucinations, right? So that's why his back was covered with bandages. Val said, there were lots of open wounds there so they had to be cleaned and bandaged regularly to prevent infection even though the impact made him unable to sleep on his back for up to two weeks. But thankfully, Val wants to help care for him.

" Thank you Val," Luke told her as Val cleaned the wound on his back with antiseptic.

"Because I have taken care of you or because I want to be your friend?"

He smiled. His snort also smiled. "For both."

"Then you should treat me next time."

"Okay. What do you want?"

"Pizza! With double cheese and bacon, then dipped in a savory mushroom sauce . Hmm… yummy. You know, the food here isn't that good. It's still lucky to be able to eat to stay alive. But when it comes to deliciousness, it's really in substandard."

" I know really. But, I think you're forgetting something, Val."

"What's that?"

"That we are isolated in this place. No communication with outsiders is allowed without the management's permission. So, we can't order Domino's here. Even at the front gate, maybe the delivery man has been blocked."

Val chuckled angrily. "Oh, you're right. Ah… damn it. Why am I stuck here anyway? Even in prison we can order the Fine Dining menu ! ."

Seeing Val's behavior made him tingle.

"Hey, come on. After all, we don't have to hang around in our cells for hours. We can still socialize, go to school, and… um… and, yeah, see some nice boys."

Luke turned his head and tried to smile broadly to give Val strength. But he didn't reply with the same smile so it seemed he was still annoyed.

"Hah~, I appreciate the positive thoughts you keep, Luke. But. I'm sick of living here. With all the stupidity of everyone going their own way and pretending this place is okay, it's driving me crazy."

" What are you talking about, Val? " My forehead wrinkled, not understanding where Valentine's conversation was going this time.

"The cattle, Luke! The cattle! Oh, you must not have heard, have you, because you always go straight back to the dormitory after lessons or meals together. So, I'll tell you that since the day before yesterday, many cattle have died suddenly ."

"Sudden death? Maybe from an illness?"

Luke turned around even though his bandage was still halfway through. But, Luke noticed that Val shook his head.

"I don't think it was from disease. Oh… you should have seen the dead cattle in person, Luke. Because they were torn to pieces."

"Torn how?"

"Yes… torn to pieces! Like a wild beast had eaten them and tore the whole body of the cattle out of shape."

He also added, "And that happened ever since you were found at the edge of the forest."
