Chapter 13

~Derick Mondragon Pov~

I was driving down the winding road towards the pack house, enjoying the scenery and thinking about the pack meeting we were going to have later that day. Suddenly, my phone rang, and I picked it up without taking my eyes off the road.

"Mia? What's going on?" I asked.

"Alpha Derick, we're under attack by the black bird wolves rogue pack. They've killed several of our pack members, and they're still here," Mia's voice trembled with fear.

My heart sank as I heard the news. The black bird wolves were notorious for their aggression and brutality. As the Alpha of my pack, it was my responsibility to protect my people.

"I'm on my way," I said, my voice firm and determined.

I stepped on the gas pedal and increased my speed. The tires screeched as I turned onto the dirt road that led to the pack house. My mind raced as I thought about the best course of action.

When I arrived at the pack house, the scene before me was devastating. Black roses were scattered everywhere, and half of our pack members were lying on the ground, motionless. I could see Mia, John, and Matthew lying in a corner, badly injured but still alive.

My heart ached as I looked around at the destruction. I had failed to protect my pack, and now my people were paying the price.

I quickly assessed the situation and gave orders to those who were still able to move. We tended to the wounded and started to clean up the mess left behind by the rogue pack. As we worked, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of sadness and anger.

The black bird wolves had taken many of our pack members, but we were not defeated. We would rise from the ashes, stronger than ever. I vowed to find and punish those responsible for this attack and to make sure that our pack would never again fall victim to such brutality.

As the sun set and the day came to a close, we gathered for a pack meeting. I stood at the front of the group, my voice strong and determined.

"We have suffered a great loss today, but we will not let this defeat us. We will rise from the ashes, stronger and more united than ever before. We will find those responsible for this attack, and we will make sure that they pay for their crimes. Together, we will rebuild and grow, and we will show the world that we are not to be messed with."

The pack howled in agreement, and I felt a sense of pride in my people. We would overcome this tragedy, and we would come out stronger on the other side.

I clenched the black rose in my hand, feeling a surge of anger and frustration. The black bird wolves pack had a new leader. According to what Mia noticed and tell me, and they were more brutal than ever. The fact that they had attacked in human form was concerning, and it made me wonder who could be behind this.

"Mia, gather everyone together. Make sure they're safe and take care of the wounded," I said, my voice firm and commanding.

The pack members looked at me in surprise, not understanding why I was leaving them in their time of need. But I had to go back to the company. Maybe there was something there that could help me find out more about the black bird wolves pack and their new leader.

I got into my car and drove towards the company headquarters, my mind racing with thoughts and plans. As I drove, I thought about the black bird wolves pack and their new leader. Who could it be? And why were they attacking my pack?

Immediately I arrived at my office, my heart sank as I saw the black banquet of roses on my desk. I knew that this was a message from the black bird wolves pack, and it made my blood boil with anger. How dare they come into my company and leave such a message?

I looked around my office, trying to find any clues about who could have left the roses. But there was no scent of werewolf, which was strange. Could it be possible that the new leader of the black bird wolves pack was not a werewolf?

My mind raced with questions and possibilities as I sat down at my desk. I knew that I had to be careful, and that I couldn't let my guard down. The safety of my pack and my company was at stake, and I couldn't afford to make any mistakes.

Just then, my phone rang, and I saw that it was Mia calling. I picked up the phone, feeling relieved to hear her voice.

"Alpha Derick, are you okay? We were worried about you," Mia said, her voice filled with concern.

"I'm fine, Mia. Don't worry about me. How are the pack members doing?" I asked, trying to keep my voice calm.

"They're holding up, but we're still in shock. We never expected an attack like this," Mia replied, her voice trembling.

"I know, Mia. But we'll get through this. We're stronger than they think," I said, trying to reassure her.

As I hung up the phone, I knew that I had to find a way to stop the black bird wolves pack before they could do any more damage. But I also knew that I had to be careful, and that I couldn't let my emotions get the best of me. This was a battle that I had to win, no matter what it took.

I suddenly heard a knock on my door, Sophia walked in. "Yes Sophia," I fake my smile.

"I just wanted to know maybe everything is okay, Mia did not show up at work today."

"Don't worry, everything is fine."

Sophia turned, she was about to leave my office, when I forced myself and asked. "Can we have dinner together this night? I mean, to celebrate your promotion."

Sophia looked surprised at my invitation, but she agreed to join me for dinner that night. As she left my office, I couldn't help but feel happy because it's time to use her. I will be using her to get closer to Alpha Blake, who knows, he might be working with the black bird wolves.

I spent the rest of the day working, trying to find any information about the black bird wolves pack and their new leader. But my efforts were fruitless, and I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled in my gut.

That night, I met Sophia at a fancy restaurant, and we sat down to eat. As we talked, I tried to steer the conversation towards Alpha Blake, about how he betrayed her, and choose her stepsister over her. But Sophia seemed not interested in talking about her personal lives, and I found myself getting frustrated.

After dinner, I walked Sophia out to get cab, and I thanked her for coming out with me. As her cab man drove away, I couldn't help but feel like I had wasted my time.

But as I walked back to my car, something caught my eye. A black rose was sitting on the windshield, and I knew that this was a message from the black bird wolves pack again.

I clenched my fists, feeling a surge of anger and frustration. I couldn't let them get away with this. I had to find a way to stop them before they could do any more damage. But first, I had to figure out who their new leader was, and what their plans were.

The game had begun, and I was determined to win.
