Chapter 60

~Blake Pov~

I and Mia were inside my mansion, enjoying a rare moment of respite from the chaos that had consumed our lives. The flickering candlelight cast a warm glow, creating an atmosphere of tranquility.

Suddenly, the serene ambiance shattered as the grand entrance swung open, revealing the figures of Miranda and Theresa. My brows furrowed in confusion and frustration. "What is the meaning of this, Miranda? You have no right to barge into my mansion uninvited."

Before Miranda could respond, a peculiar scent wafted through the air—a scent that did not belong to any familiar werewolf pack. Mia's eyes widened with concern, and she glanced at me, silently asking if I could sense it too. I nodded grimly.

Instinctively, I shed my suit, my body tensing in preparation for a fight. The air crackled with tension as the unfamiliar scent grew stronger, filling the room with an ominous presence.

Suddenly, a group of rogues crashed through the windows, their snarls echoing through the room. They lunged at us with feral intensity, their primal instincts driving them forward.

In the chaos, Miranda attempted to transform into her wolf form, but to her astonishment, she couldn't. Confusion etched across her face as the rogue assailants hesitated, momentarily thrown off guard by her predicament.

With swift and calculated movements, Mia and I fought back, using our combined strength and agility to fend off the attackers. The sound of claws slashing through the air and the scent of blood mingled together, creating a dizzying and dangerous dance.

As the skirmish raged on, the rogues seemed particularly fixated on Miranda. They disregarded Mia and me, their focus solely on capturing the alpha of the Black Bird Wolves. In the midst of the chaos, Theresa, unfortunately, fell victim to the onslaught, her life extinguished in an instant.

With a chilling realization, Mia and I exchanged glances. The dropped rose flower—a symbol of treachery and impending doom—lay discarded on the floor. It was evident that these rogues were not aligned with any familiar pack. Their sole purpose was to seize Miranda, their target set firmly on the alpha of the Black Bird Wolves.

As the last of the rogues fled with Miranda in their clutches, the room fell into an eerie silence. The weight of the situation pressed upon us, Mia and I grappling with the implications of this unexpected turn of events.

"What do they want with Miranda?" Mia whispered, her voice tinged with concern and confusion.

"I'm not sure," I replied, my tone laden with determination. "But one thing is certain—we won't rest until we find her and uncover the truth behind this attack."

"Come on Blake, what if Miranda have attacked them before and they're just seeking for revenge? You know Black bird wolves pack are brutal!"

I exhale, "You're right Mia, but, I don't want to lose guard. I still need to find out who they are."

"Fine! But what about her?" Mia said, pointing to Theresa corpse.

"We will disposed her!" I replied, and walked out.

I was just about to leave Derick's office, the weight of the situation heavy on my shoulders, when the air suddenly crackled with tension. Blake's booming voice reverberated through the hallway as he stormed towards us, accompanied by Mia. I stood my ground, ready to face whatever drama Blake was about to unleash.

"What do you want, Blake?" I asked, my voice laced with irritation.

"I'm not here to see you," Blake sneered, barging into Derick's office without hesitation. My blood boiled at his audacity, but I held my tongue, waiting to see what would unfold.

Once inside, Blake turned his attention to Derick, his voice dripping with accusation. "Why did you send your rogues to kidnap Miranda?" he demanded, his eyes blazing with anger.

Derick's expression twisted into confusion. "What are you talking about, Blake? I have no idea what you're referring to."

"Don't play dumb with me, Derick!" Blake snapped, his voice laced with venom. "I know it was your doing. Sending your lackeys to do your dirty work. Typical coward move. Why can't you come and face me yourself?"

My patience wore thin as Blake continued to hurl baseless accusations. I couldn't stay silent any longer. "Enough of this bullshit, Blake!" I interjected, my voice firm. "Derick had nothing to do with Miranda's kidnapping. Your claims are baseless and unfounded."

Mia scoffed, her laughter filled with mockery. "Defending your fake mate, huh? How pathetic," she sneered.

I bristled at her words, my eyes blazing with defiance. "Point of correction, Mia," I retorted. "Derick and I are true mates. We share a bond that you will never understand. There was a spark, a connection that proved our authenticity."

Mia rolled her eyes dismissively, refusing to acknowledge my words. The tension in the room intensified as Blake's anger simmered, threatening to boil over.

Derick stepped forward, his voice filled with authority. "Enough, Blake! Mia! Leave now!" he commanded, his gaze unwavering.

Blake's temper flared, and with a swift movement, he extended his fang-like fingers, scratching them against Derick's desk. The sound grated against my ears, a chilling warning that lingered in the air. "Watch your back," Blake spat, before he and Mia stormed out of the company, their presence leaving behind a trail of tension and unease.

I turned to Derick, concern etched across my face. "What are we going to do about this?" I asked, my voice laced with urgency.

Derick met my gaze, his eyes filled with determination. "We won't let them win," he declared, his voice steady. "But firstly, let's continue to concentrate on finding a way to reclaim the shares that Mr. Sylvester sold to Blake and Miranda. We can't let them destroy everything we've built. Blake threat is nothing to me!"

Miranda's eyes fluttered open, her vision blurry as she tried to make sense of her surroundings. Panic surged through her as she realized she was bound, unable to move. Confusion washed over her, and she frantically scanned the room, searching for any clues as to who had taken her.

As her vision cleared, Miranda's heart sank. She was in her own room, her sanctuary, and yet it had become a prison. The ropes digging into her wrists and ankles were a stark reminder of her captivity.

The room was dimly lit, the atmosphere heavy with tension. Her eyes darted around, taking in the familiar objects that now seemed alien in the gloom. None of this made sense. Who would dare betray her? Who had orchestrated this elaborate scheme?

She strained against her restraints, but they held fast. Frustration welled up inside her, mixing with a growing sense of vulnerability. Miranda was the alpha of the Black Bird Wolf Pack, and yet she found herself at the mercy of an unknown enemy.

A myriad of questions raced through her mind. How had they gotten past her loyal followers? Why hadn't anyone come to her aid? The faces that had surrendered her were unfamiliar, not a single one of them belonging to her trusted pack members.

Fear mingled with anger as Miranda struggled to piece together the puzzle before her. Someone had orchestrated a grand deception, turning her own pack against her. But why? And for what purpose?

As her mind churned with unanswered questions, Miranda's determination grew. She refused to be a helpless victim in her own den. She would find a way to escape, to unravel the truth that lay hidden within the shadows.
