Tang Jingren still had some skill. Even in his poor condition, he dragged his injured body aside and managed to dodge the attack.
But that single dodge put him right into Qi Suian’s grasp.
At this point, Tang Jingren had already resigned himself to death. After all, he had stepped into his opponent’s force field. Barring any surprises, he expected to be turned to dust.
However, he felt nothing and found himself still alive.
"You’re quite valuable. It’s a shame your consciousness is too strong, otherwise I’d eat your brain to strengthen my abilities," Qi Suian said regretfully. He then casually injected Tang Jingren with a series of concoctions: inhibitors, weakening agents, anesthetics, and more.
His opponent was too strong. Given the Tai Sui God’s current power, the Melting Furnace couldn’t burn Tang Jingren to death in a short amount of time if it used him as fuel.
Therefore, to prevent Tang Jingren from destroying the Melting Furnace, Qi Suian had to weaken him first.
Once that was done, he tossed him right in. The rest was out of Qi Suian’s hands; he just had to wait for Tang Jingren to be burned to ashes.
[Data projection: This will increase armor value to 14 points.]
"He’s that valuable?" Qi Suian had thought he’d be lucky to get 0.1 armor points, not expecting this much energy.
[The Extraordinary possess higher evolutionary energy, but the number of Extraordinary beings in this world is exceedingly rare.]
Qi Suian understood immediately. It was a matter of insufficient energy levels.
"In that case, isn’t this one worth at least 2 armor points?" Qi Suian’s gaze shifted to the special zombie that was bombarding him with all sorts of ranged abilities.
It was true that the creature could resurrect, but that resurrection was undoubtedly based on the Profound Virus.
’Once it’s in the Melting Furnace, I’ll burn it to a crisp. Even if it can resurrect, it can’t be infinite.’
Of course, if he was wrong, that would be even better.
Infinite resurrection meant it could provide a stable source of evolutionary energy.
Right now, the only stable sources of evolutionary energy were the Tai Sui God’s three growth modules and Qi Suian himself.
But he was busy and didn’t have time to burn himself every day. If the special zombie could really take his place, it would be a huge boon.
As for the possibility that it would gradually adapt—that was a real concern. However, with the energy it provided, plus Qi Suian’s help, the Tai Sui God would definitely grow faster than the zombie.
By then, the Melting Furnace’s effectiveness would also increase. So what if the zombie could adapt?
[Your assessment is too conservative. The minimum value is 5 armor points.]
[Its value far exceeds that of the Source of Profound Virus’s consciousness-zombie.]
The moment Qi Suian heard that, the way he looked at the special zombie changed completely.
’He’d been willing to risk it for 2 armor points. Now there was a guaranteed minimum of 5. It would be a huge loss not to capture it and burn it.’
The special zombie seemed to possess an ability that could detect malicious intent. It immediately sensed the malice radiating from Qi Suian, instantly ceased its attacks, and began to retreat.
But it hadn’t gotten far before it was hit by a volley from the Floating Cannons.
Unlike other life forms, which would immediately disintegrate into carbonized flesh upon being hit by a Dark Energy Beam, this special zombie did not.
Apparently, the previous Dark Energy Beam had allowed its body to develop a certain resistance to dark energy.
It held on for about two seconds before finally disintegrating.
"If I keep hitting it with Dark Energy Beams, and it dies a hundred times or so, will it become completely immune to dark energy?" Qi Suian asked casually.
[The possibility is high. However, if the special zombie were to die at your hands one hundred times, it would likely evolve into a zombie even more powerful than Chunyu Hu.]
[Chunyu Hu’s stats are unknown, but with his time-based ability, he was able to easily destroy Ring Island. This special zombie has more abilities, so its strength would be even greater.]
Levels and abilities can allow stats to unleash far greater power.
The AI had previously run a model: single-digit dual stats were not enough to destroy Ring Island. But because Chunyu Hu likely had a boss template, possessed a powerful time-based ability, and had other unknown powers, he was able to accomplish it.
’I didn’t realize before. Besides stats, it actually depends on who has them.’
In Qi Suian’s case, the effect was rather average, as none of his own talents were offensive in nature.
In the short time he spent communicating with the AI, the special zombie resurrected once again.
This time, its resurrection was much faster, as it had already developed the corresponding resistance.
But it didn’t matter. The Dark Energy Beams were just for control. Qi Suian’s real goal was to envelop the special zombie in the Divine Purification Force Field.
’I refuse to believe it can still be so formidable inside the Divine Purification Force Field.’
"The Profound Virus is acting up again." Before Qi Suian even got close, he sensed something was wrong with him.
He looked up and saw that the Blood Moon was hanging high in the sky, though he didn’t know when it had appeared.
It was still daytime; the moon definitely shouldn’t be visible from his location.
But there it was. This meant the Profound God’s corruption had caused the moon to mutate further, and it was drawing closer to the planet, which would trigger even more terrifying changes.
The main point wasn’t any of that, but the fact that symptoms of the Blood Moon Shadow were appearing on his body.
He immediately controlled the Profound Virus within him to expel it. Fortunately, the Profound Virus in his body was no longer the conventional type but had become his own immune system.
It expelled the Blood Moon Shadow on the spot.
The special zombie, however, wasn’t so lucky. The Blood Moon Shadow on its body advanced directly to the second stage.
The rapid evolution of the second stage, combined with its own evolutionary abilities, caused the special zombie’s body to gradually mutate, turning a blood-red color.
It had clearly accepted the Blood Moon Shadow instead of resisting it.
If it were Tang Jingren, who was currently being burned, he would have made the same choice as Qi Suian.
After all, Tang Jingren was half-violator and half-survivor, and with the memories of his predecessor, his wisdom and experience far surpassed that of a special zombie that had evolved through sheer combat.
"Trying to run? Stay right here."
"You really think getting a power-up means you can escape?" Watching the special zombie, which had become even faster, Qi Suian had no intention of letting it go.
Although the special zombie was not as seasoned as Tang Jingren, it knew it was no match for Qi Suian.
’Melee combat means death, but my ranged attacks can’t touch him.’
’The best solution is to keep getting stronger. Once I’m powerful enough, I’ll kill Qi Suian and take my power back.’
But the problem now was that it had to survive first and not fall into Qi Suian’s hands, or all its plans would be for nothing.
Qi Suian was unwilling to give up such a juicy piece of meat, and so the chase began.
One had the Wind Master aviation system, while the other had numerous abilities. For a moment, they were actually evenly matched.
