Chapter Kate has a son?

“You sure they’re going to be okay?” Aiden asked as he stepped into the passenger  seat of Alex’s  car, fastening the seatbelt.

Alex shrugged uncertainly. “I guess so.” He growled, their  eyes looming over at Angela’s  house, watching the shadows moving about inside the house.

The sex gods decided it was best to give the siblings  some time alone to tackle things out. The tension emitting  from Kate and her sister was too much and it bordered more on family  matter, so they thought it right to give the sisters some space.

However, they both made it known to Kate she should call them whenever  she needed them.

Now, sitting in the car about to drive off, they worried if it was wise to just leave them. What if  they end up doing something  shitty?   The twins doused that  thought, knowing that Kate doesn’t  act so irrationally.

She thinks things through before taking action.  Calming their nerves, Alex started the engine and they began to ride away from the vicinity.

“I heard them talking about  a boy. Whose  baby is that?” Aiden asked, looking over at Alex.

He heard when  Kate was pleading with Tiffany to tune down her  voice so her baby wouldn’t  wake up and find them in the middle of an argument

Alex had been thinking about that. Well, more like, why Kate would keep her baby a secret from them?

Obviously, Aiden wasn’t  aware she had a son. Neither did he.

“Kate’s  son.” Alex muttered, hands expertly steering the wheel.

Aiden didn’t  hide his shock the slightest  bit. “Kate has a son?”  He blurted, all shocked.

“Yeah, just figured today. She needed someone to act as the boy’s father.” Alex  informed.

Silence descended upon them. Each bore his thought.  It worried them why Kate would be looking for someone  to act as her son's father.

“It’s  strange she’s  looking for hired daddy for her son. What happened  to the man that got her knocked up?” Alex blurted his thoughts.

Aiden shrugged, confused as much.  “You know some dudes are assholes, he might have dumped her when he figured she was pregnant.”  Casually, Aiden blurted.

“That…or the fact that the man died.” Alex reasoned. Another moments of silence  followed.

Their eyes pinned on the road, as Alex wheeled them around, overthrowing some slow moving cars.

“How’s your visit to Texas?” Alex asked when he remembered Aiden went to the very place their life in the states began.

“It was uneventful. Mom's grave is being taken care of.”  He answered.

“How could you, Kate?” Tiffany’s  voice boomed as she paced the length of the room. Her fingers continuously  finding purchase  in her hair.

She had been  frantically  moving around thinking, since the twins left. It was hard to wrap her head around it all. She couldn’t believe it but it was the truth. Her sister is dating two men. Two brothers.

Kate sat on the couch like a child being scolded by her parents. Only, Tiffany is just her morally responsible, overly protective  sister.

Kate had dreaded this but now it’s  happening. The question  is how soon will it reach their father’s  ears? What would be his reaction?

Dread like a ball lodged in Kate’s  throat.  She worried her lips between  her teeth, fiddling away with her fingers as her head bowed.

“How do you think dad’s  gonna take this? Hell, Kate! Have you forgotten  the kind of father is he? The family  you came from?” A pause, Tiffany  paced again. “How could you date two men. Two brothers? Doesn’t  that make you feel weird?”

Oh,  this thunderous  rambling  is grating Kate’s  nerves. There’s  nothing she can do about it.

“But…Tiffany…I can’t  help it.” She spat, making Tiffany  stop.

“That is abnormal, Kate.. “

“But I don’t  mind. I love them, Tiffany.”

Tiffany  paused and stared at Kate at a loss for words.

Kate slowly got to her feet and closed the distance  between  them a bit. “Tiffany, I tried to fight my feelings for them but I couldn’t  help it. I tried to push them away but they kept coming.”  She paused.

Tiffany was all ears,  but deprived of words to give. Words to spill and convince Kate otherwise.

“Since I’ve been  here in Las Vegas, those two men have been  there for me whenever  I needed them.”  She dropped her head between  her shoulders and sighed.  “They’re  the reason that I’m able to foot most of our Bills today, Tiffany.”

She raised her hands and held Tiffany’s. “Please, as my sister support my very first love life. As my sister, allow me to get a chance at love and don’t  tell on me. Please, Tiffany? I want things to work out well. For us. For my son.”

All walls of resistance built inside Tiffany  crumbled as she got besieged  by emotions. Truly, Kate’s  stay here in Las Vegas  had brought a change in their lives. That they are here today is because  of Kate. So, why not allow her a chance at love?

A long sigh vibrated  from Tiffany’s  chest. She reached over, traded gazes with Kate and flushed her against  her chest.

“Oh, Kate…you always know how to weaken my resistance, girl.” She said. They parted from their embrace and Tiffany  ruffled Kate’s  hair. “It’s  not my life to live but I want you to have a chance at happiness. You and Gabby deserve it after everything. But I’d never stomach when those dudes decide to play with your fragile heart like that stupid stranger  from years ago did.  Those dudes are too handsome , it makes me to doubt their loyalty.”  Tiffany  rambled, Kate laughed.

“But, girl. Always tell me whenever  you want their asses to be kicked. I’d gladly smack those asses. No one messes with my sister  and scot free.” Tiffany  said, all serious.

“Oh…Tiffany!” Kate light smacked her sister’s  arm. “You'd never change.” She  gushed.

“Not at all. Not when it comes to you, dad and Gabby. I’ll cross rivers just to fight for you guys.”

The trickle of emotions almost made Kate cry. She pushed her body  on Tiffany’s  and whispered. “And I’ll fight the whole world for you, Tiffany. I love you.”

“And I love you too….”

They were still trying to bond when Gabby’s  sleepy voice barreled  through  their ears. “Mommy, where’s  daddy? I want him to read me bed night stories!”

Shocked, Kate quickly  brought out her cell and called Alex over. It was his duty as Gabby’s  hired father.

“Alex, please hurry over. Gabby needs you to read him bed night stories!” Kate hummed as Alex rewarded her with a light laugh.

“Alright, Kate. Will be there soon.”
