Chapter She felt ruined

Kate, Aiden and Angela boarded a flight to New Orleans  but all the while, Kate was shedding silent tears.

Her greatest  fear was just about to happen. She wanted their dad strong which was why she struggled, dropped her morals to work as pornstar just to ensure their father was alive. She always wanted him alive, strong, healthy but look what’s  happening.

Her father is now in a critical  condition  or so she thought, because  of her and the career part she chose just to make money.

Kate never planned for any of this to happen. She never dreamt her career  part would be to act porno. But as you know, circumstances  confiscated her dreams of being a normal actress. Circumstances  denied her the opportunity to further her education  just to be a movie star.

From her teenage  years she got pregnant without knowing the baby’s  father. She manageably finished  high school  which all thanks goes to the menial jobs she did to gather money and pay her fees.

Kate realized  that circumstances sometimes determine what or who someone  would be and not what or who someone was supposed to be.

She bit on her quaking lips as thoughts about her life reeled through her head.

Aiden who sat quietly  beside already knew that Kate’s mind was running a mile a minute  and in order  to calm her nerves down, he slipped his hand into hers.

The sudden contact  made Kate’s  increased heartbeat  zen.

“It’s going to be okay, baby.” He whispered against  her head as he pulled her to his chest.

If Kate regrets all else in her life in Sin city, she'd never regret ever falling in love with the twins. They’ve become a huge part of her life.

“Why did you sell it?” Lightly, she whispered against  Aiden’s  chest.

Briefly, Aiden stilled. Then he responded. “I want to try something  new  in life. I want a much simple life with you, baby. You and my son.”

Oh, Kate couldn’t  help the soft tingles that sputtered through her at Aiden’s  words. He wanted a simple life with her and their baby and  he knew being what they were wouldn’t  help to brew their son in the right steps in life.

“Thank you…” Kate said, clutching his shirt tightly.  In response, Aiden caressed her arm, nodding his head.

He already has plans for them. However, three questions lingered on Kate’s  mind. What then will become of Alex?  Are they really separating?

Could she really live without that other part of her?

The three of them exited the airport  after the plane landed. Through the hospital address Alex sent, they got a cab and headed there straight.

“David Thomas.” Kate rattled off to the nurse at the reception counter immediately  they walked into the hospital.

Skimming through the names of the admitted  patients, the nurse uttered. “ward five. Take your left.”

“Great, thanks.” Angela said in gratitude as they skittered away.

Heart in  her throat, Kate paused by the door and peered inside through the glass part of the door. She saw Gabby holding onto Alex. Tiffany  held their father crying.

Kate swallowed  and walked in warily. Still standing by the door with waters in her hers she called out. “Dad!”

She felt dirty. Rotten. Soiled by what she had become, making her not to move further. Kate only stood by the door, weeping. Sobbing.

She didn’t  stop even when Aiden held her. No, she continued  to weep. If only there’s  a way she could show their father  it was never her intention  to lie to him. That it was never her intention  to deviate from the path  he had always told her to follow.

If only she could tell him that circumstances  spurred her to action. Circumstances  altered her decision. But she couldn’t. No amount of words would make her clean. The deed has been done and so shall it be.

“Kate…” The warbled voice of their father zinged through her. Manageably, she raised her head and peered.

Their father had streaks of tears on his face. Hell, he'd gotten  more older  lately. Only what sickness  can do.  Their father had been through a lot since their mother left him.

Their mother left on the grounds that David  could not foot her bills. She had wanted a stress free life which was why she filed for a divorce  and left.  Kate barely know  her. Only Tiffany  could remember  her a bit.  And ever since her departure  from their lives, she never returned,  leaving their father to play both motherly and fatherly role.

He's a strong man. And he'll always be. He brewed them to be strong. And forever Kate would remember  his words of advice.

What literally  pains their father the most was that Kate treaded the parts their mother took years  back. No, you can’t  call her a pornstar  but she was mainly a prostitute.

Their mother sold herself  for money which in Kate’s  case differed. However, no matter the line drawn between  being a pornstar  and a prostitute, it still amounted the same thing.

It isn’t morally righteous. Never will be.

But David’s  heart melted to a ice after What Alex revealed to him.  Alex made him know that Kate joined the adult industry   so she provide for her family.

To carter for his operation. And that Kate still held onto her morals. Except him and Aiden, Kate never flaunted herself  before another man.

Amongst  all that Alex said, what hit home in David’s  heart was that Kate did all that because  she wanted to save his life.

What meaning  would it have made if he continued to hate the daughter  that suffered to help him? What meaning  would it have made if he disowned the same girl that wanted nothing but to see her family  happy?

David himself  knew all those years that Kate isn’t  happy knowing  they couldn’t  afford to see Gabby through school. That they could barely pay their rent much less getting Gabby what he'd want.

David shed tears. David bawled. But the least he could do was pull Kate close after cautioning  her and not disowning  her. No one on life is above mistakes. He isn’t above mistakes and neither is Kate.

“Come, Kate.” David beckoned  her closer and Kate took wary steps until she stopped at the foot of the bed.

“Mama…” Gabby hummed, seeing his mother crying.

“Dad…I’m so sorry.” She broke out, crying and so was Tiffany. “I never knew that was the role I’m supposed  to play before I left home. I only knew when I got there. I tried to decide against  it but…when I heard you were stuck  at the hospital, I needed to do something.” She  sobbed, her shoulders shook. “I couldn’t  let you die. Dad, you mean a whole world to us….please.”

Oh, those words spurred David to spread his arms open, needing to console Kate. Needing to patch the pieces of her heart which his words broke.

Indeed, Kate’s  still Kate. She’s  still the daughter  he trained. Loved. Fend for.

Seeing her father’s  arms open for her, Kate rushed over and flushed herself  against  his, crying out. Everyone  in the room was touched as Tiffany  joined in the embrace.  They all teared up, but was wiping each other’s eyes.

“Stop crying, Kate because  I forgive you. You’ve given me a chance to live a healthy  life again…”

“No, dad. It was Alex and Aiden that paid for all your hospital  bills. They’ve  been there for me. And will be there for us.  Always and forever.”

Oh…how much Alex longs  for this unity  between  him and Aiden. How much the twins wanted to be who they've always been.  But…they’ve been too broken, they doubted their bonds can be fixed.

Angela stood transfixed, watching, rejoicing  that after all Kate had reunited with  her family.

After much embraces and talks, Kate decided  to let her father know the new development.  She cleared her throat  and stared at Aiden and then Gabby.

By now, Gabby was already resting in her arms, holding her like a lifeline. “Dad…”

Their father and Tiffany  ogled at Kate and she spilled. “Aiden’s  Gabby’s real father.”

“What? How?” Tiffany  and their father gasped in surprise.

“I checked their DNA and it matched…”

To clear the confusion, Kate began to narrate what actually  went down that night six years ago and what actually  caused it.

Alex was ashamed. Embittered  as Kate’s  family  stared at her.

“Hey, baby.” Kate whispered  into Gabby’s  ears, ruffling his hair. The boy stirred and smiled.

“Are you done crying, mommy?” He brushed  his tiny palms on Kate’s  cheeks

She gave him  a watery smile and nodded. “Yeah…” She hummed. Then. “Would…like to know who daddy really is?”

Gabby  giggled. “Daddy’s  here. Him?” He pointed at Alex whose  head was leveled  downwards.

Kate gave a smile. “No, he’s your uncle.” She said, looking at Alex. She knows he's on pains.  Looking  over at Aiden, she hummed. “Aiden’s  your daddy. Your real daddy.”

The course of fate is one thing they all are yet to unravel. However, it gladdens their hearts that it literally  made things to fall into place for them.

Aiden matched closer and ruffled Gabby’s hair and called him. “Son.”

No wonder everything  about him welcomed Gabby the very first time he set eyes on the boy. Gabby was his flesh and blood.  Always has been.

She’s  restless. She felt she’d  lost everything. It’s  so unbelievable. She tried to ruin Kate but she got ruined. Now, she’s  alone.

Selling Brazzers  shows just how much the sex gods would go to please Kate. To love her.

Mira was right all along. The twins weren’t  meant for her.

Too bad, she clung heavily to the notion that whenever  you want someone, pursue them until they want you back. That was what she did.

She pursued the sex gods. She all pursued to show  them she wanted them but it never ended well for her.

They  never wanted her back. Same thing that happened  to her mother happened  to her. They pursued men that never wanted them.

Mira was right  all along. In life it’s always wise to  follow you loves you than who you love. Because  in the end you'll end up loving that person you thought you  never loved once you see the good in them.

Lisa had taken time to reflect on these all the days she’d been alone. And now she’s  made a decision. She has to go back to Mira. She needed to apologize  to Mira and  give Mira the opportunity  to show her what true love is.

At that, Lisa left her place to search for Mira.
