This Time, I Choose Humanity! Chapter 48

The target of the group leader was the Skrivalok that was carrying a strange beast on his shoulder.

The ground exploded under his sudden burst of speed. He appeared in front of the Skrivalok almost instantly and slashed with his great sword.

The sound of the wind being slashed was very loud as the sword cut through the air and inches closer to the Skrivalok.

Seeing this, a grin formed on the face of the Skrivalok. One of its four hands moved at an even faster speed and he caught the blade of the sword with his bare hand.

Boom!

The blade landed in between the fingers of the Skrivalok and the powerful Shockwave from the attack swept past the Skrivalok and chopped a huge tree behind him.

"Heh, is that all you can do? I might decide to kill you faster if you aren’t fun enough." The Skrivalok moved his face closer to the group leader and whispered with a wicked smile.

"Hmph, you can say that after I cut off your head!" The man snorted before pressing down with his sword.

Boom!

Mana exploded from his body and rushed into his great sword. The mana gathered around the blade of the sword created a massive sword energy that slashed down at the Skrivalok.

Seeing this, the Skrivalok had no choice but to let go of the blade and move out of the way. He jumped to the side and watched the sword energy fly forward leaving a massive cut on the ground and splitting several trees in pieces.

"Hahaha, now that’s more like it. I haven’t had this much fun in years!" The Skrivalok laughed loudly while still in mid-air.

The creature on his shoulder flew higher than the Skrivalok, its body expanded, before attaching itself to the body of the Skrivalok.

What followed next was a transformation as the Skrivalok changed into something bizarre

His body doubled in size. The scale on his hands turned rough like that of a crocodile while his fingers turned into long claws. His head changed a bit, resembling that of a monkey, while he grew a tail that ended with hard short spikes.

Bang!

The Skrivalok landed on the ground after fusing with his summoned beast, his weight had obviously doubled as his feet sank into the ground upon landing.

"Now, let’s play."

The Skrivalok laughed out loud before suddenly launching forward.

Boom!

His feet sank deeper into the ground before he shot forward like an arrow. The body of the Skrivalok turned into a blur as he zigzagged through the forest.

Seeing this, a serious look appeared on the face of the swordsman. Mana once again gushed out from his body as he held his sword with both hands close to his chest.

Mana quickly accumulated onto the blade and formed blazing sword energy around it.

"Hiya!" The man shouted as he performed a sideways slash towards the incoming Skrivalok, he used both hands and swung the sword with all his might.

Wooohhh!!!

A powerful sword light shot out after that slashed and soared forward like a massive wave. It travelled fast, cutting down trees effortlessly and arriving in front of the Skrivalok almost instantly.

But the Skrivalok wasn’t a Level 5 for nothing. Just before the sword light could touch him, he leaned back. Using two of his hands to support his body while his other two hands slapped the sword light towards the air.

Swoosh!

Boom!

The sword light flew upward and crashed into the vines that covered the airspace. The attack actually cut through the vines and continued flying into the sky.

Meanwhile, the vines quickly moved and closed up the opening that was created by the sword light.

"Haha, very good. You actually managed to hurt me, I’m impressed." The Skrivalok laughed while looking at two of his hands that he had used to hit the sword light; several scales had been chipped off even though the attack didn’t hit him directly.

Without waiting for the man to react, the Skrivalok shot forward again and arrived in front of the other party instantly before swiping with two claws at the same time.

In response, the man moved his sword to block one of the claws while jumping into the air.

Bang!

The claw slammed into the flat side of the sword, the force pushing him back and helping him dodge the sword claw. But the Skrivalok wasn’t going to leave him alone and instantly went after him, sending several claw attacks before the other party could touch the group.

Bang!

Bang!

Clang!

The sounds of the claws striking the sword rang out constantly as the man frantically blocked the barrage of attacks.

He gritted his teeth and opened his eyes wide while waving his great sword in ways that he never thought were possible just to block the onslaught of the other party’s four claws.

No matter what, he couldn’t allow any of those attacks to land because it would be over for him once that happened!

"Hahaha. That’s it, struggle!" The Skrivalok laughed savagely as his attacks got even faster, so fast that his hands had turned almost invisible and sparks were flying everywhere.

’I...can’t...hold on...’ the man thought to himself, he could barely see the attacks of the other party at this point.

The difference in strength between them was just too obvious.

Just then. The Skrivalok grabbed the sword with one hand and dragged the man to one side while sending a round kick.

The man was shocked, he didn’t expect that and wasn’t fast enough to react.

Bam!

The kick connected with his chest and he instantly felt like a mountain had crashed into his body. His bones shattered and pierced his lungs and heart, blood already rushing toward his throat.

Before his body could fly away, the tail of the Skrivalok struck the side of his body. The tiny spikes on the tail pierced his ribs before slamming his body into the ground.

Bang!

The ground shook as the body of the group leader made contact with the forest floor.

"Arhk!!" The mouth of the group leader opened as a pained choking sound escaped his lips, accompanied by several mouthfuls of blood.

Spit!

He coughed again and spat out another mouthful of blood.

His right hand was still gripping his sword but his fingers were constantly twitching. His body was in so much pain that he couldn’t decide which area to focus on. A lot of his bones were crushed and his organs were quickly failing.

His vision was blurry, both from him almost passing out and the blood that was covering his eyes after his head had almost been split in two.

Even then, he still pushed himself out of the small pit that his body had created after he was slammed into the ground.

He stabbed the sword into the ground and held it with one hand to support himself while kneeling with one knee like a knight receiving blessings.

His body was drenched in blood and breathing required him to move his entire body.

"Cough!"

Spit.

He coughed again and spat another mouthful of blood, his hand that was holding the sword trembled while his other hand...

His other hand was missing!

It had actually been disconnected by the tail of the Skrivalok, it was why his ribs hadn’t completely caved in; the arm had taken the hit first.

"Is that it? All your talk about cutting off my head was just for you to kneel in front of me?" The Skrivalok said mockingly while standing in front of the kneeling swordsman.

In the distance, the four members of the swordsman team watched with anguished expressions. They wanted to go assist their leader in the fight but these four Skrivaloks suddenly blocked them.

The female Skrivalok that was standing in mid-air had even warned them not to move, else they would die instantly.

Frozen with fear, they could only watch their group leader struggle alone.

But seeing how the Skrivalok was humiliating him, they couldn’t stand still anymore.

"To hell with you all!" One of them shouted before suddenly dashing forward while wielding a pitch-black scythe.

But before he could even move across 3 meters, a mana arrow appeared out of nowhere and pierced his head.

Thud!

His body slumped onto the ground as he died instantly with his eyes wide open.

The remaining three saw this and their expressions twisted. They were going to die anyway, why listen to these foreign creatures?

And just like that, the three of them tried to attack the Skrivaloks and were instantly met with arrows to the heads.

The expression of the female Skrivalok didn’t change after killing four humans, she just turned and faced the direction of the kneeling swordsman.

The swordsman was unsure of the situation of his teammates. He couldn’t see clearly anymore and his ears were barely working at this point.

"What, can’t speak anymore?" The Skrivalok kept trying to provoke him.

Boom!

Instead of responding, the body of the swordsman erupted with even more terrifying mana and the force pushed the Skrivalok in front of him back.

"If I’m going to die, I’ll take you all with me!" He shouted as the mana eruption intensified.

"This is not the end, humanity will win!!" The man screamed as he pushed all the mana within his mana core into his sword.

"He’s trying to burn up his mana core for one last attack, foolish." The female Skrivalok mumbled before casually waving one hand.

Swoosh!!!

A mana arrow flew through the air and pierced the forehead of the swordsman, causing his shoulder to stop abruptly and the mana he was accumulating to scatter into the air.

The forest returned to silence as sunlight once again pierced through the gaps between the tree branches.
