Weeby and Uti were walking next to each other towards the restroom to change into their gym clothes because today's gym time was about to start. They both walked leisurely because there was still plenty of time. After all, changing clothes didn't take more than five minutes.
While clutching her gym clothes, Uti glanced at Weeby, who was stepping next to her.
"It's really good to be a boy." Weeby raised her voice, returning Uti's gaze. Then, after saying so, Weeby shook her head slowly.
Feeling something strange about what Weeby said, Uti immediately asked a question with a layered frown printed on her forehead. "Why did you suddenly think that?"
Weeby sighed softly. "It's just nice, they can change into their gym clothes in the classroom, unlike us, who have to go to the restroom first. it's really not fair."
"Oh, about that." Uti nodded in understanding as she chuckled lightly. "Understandable. Why are you protesting like this all of a sudden?"
"I don't know, it just popped into my head."
"I guess you're not in a good mood anymore, that's why you're like this." Uti shook her head again. "You and Marcell are fine, right?"
"Yes, there's nothing that bothers me. My relationship with Marcell is fine, apart from him speeding on his motorcycle. I've forgotten about that one, I don't want to think about it, I've forgiven him."
"That's right, I agree. You two are dating, don't get angry like that."
Weeby smiled slightly. "It's just a trivial matter, I can't be angry with Marcell all the time."
"You can't stay angry with your own boyfriend for long, right?"
"Yes, I really love Marcell. I also don't know why it ended up like this," Weeby said while thinking about herself in the past, or the months that had passed, when she and Marcell often fought and argued. But as time went by, Weeby knew that in the bottom of her heart, the dark and unexplored place, there was a feeling that she harbored feelings for Marcell. And now, it has been proven that the feelings that were originally invisible came straight to the surface. And Weeby did not want to deny what she felt.
"But I like, and I agree, that you and Marcell are dating." Uti nodded slowly.
Weeby laughed softly while embracing Uti from the side. Weeby grinned widely. "Really? Are you telling the truth?"
"Gosh, Weeby, why would I lie to you?" Uti let out a long breath. "You're my best friend, I'm saying that because it's the truth." You and Marcell are, what do you call it." Uti pondered, bit her lip, and tried to find the right words.
"What the hell?" Weeby was very curious about what Uti would say next. All of Weeby's attention was on her best friend's face; she was not paying attention to the road in front of her.
"A good match, you and Marcell are both good looking, Marcell is really handsome, and you are also beautiful."
Weeby immediately burst out laughing. "What are you talking about? You're exaggerating."
"This is not exaggerating, this is the fact. Look at Marcell, I know that every time he passes by, the girls in our class often steal glances at him. Or there could even be some who stare at him openly, although I haven't seen this one yet. But I'm sure there are. Not to mention the seniors, there are also many who have a big crush on your girlfriend." Uti took one long breath, then filled her lungs with more oxygen, before spitting out her words again. "And now it's your turn, look at yourself. You're really beautiful, seriously, I'm not lying, I'm not pretending to compliment you."
Even though what Uti said sounded very exaggerated, Weeby still felt happy and appreciated it. Weeby secretly created a smile on her lips.
"I'm also sure that many people steal glances when you pass by, it's just that you might not realize it. Or are you actually aware of By?" said Uti as she raised one eyebrow. "I don't know, only you know."
"I didn't mean anything by it, I just felt like someone was staring at me several times when I was walking."
"Well, my guess was not wrong at all."
"Don't praise me like that. I'll get too carried away. Your words really make me feel very happy."
"It's good if you're happy, it's a sign that I've succeeded in being a good friend to you." Uti giggled softly at the end of her sentence.
Weeby also laughed softly.
Then, a sudden reality hit the surface of Uti's heart. She felt different from Weeby, Weeby was often the focus of other people's attention, her presence was truly alive and very real, very prominent, and not easy to capture. This was different from her. Uti almost laughed scornfully. Uti felt that she was just a shadow, even if she completely disappeared, there would probably be no one looking for him. Because Uti was not that useful, no one would notice her. Oh sure, except for one thing, her fatty body might attract people to see who Uti really was.
However, instead of the adoring stares Uti got, she got the opposite. They stare at her in horror, maybe even lazily. There was nothing that stood out about Uti other than her fat body. And Uti was fully aware of that. Uti was different from Weeby, she had to emphasize this point over and over again. But even so, Uti did not envy Weeby, Weeby was her best friend, indeed, sometimes Uti wanted to be beautiful like Weeby, but Uti realized that she had to love himself. No matter what. She had to turn a deaf ear, no matter what people said, she didn't have to listen if someone let hurtful words out of his mouth.
"Uti!"
"What?"
Uti gasped when her shoulder was suddenly shaken gently by Weeby. The girl blinked her eyes repeatedly. Just now, her body stiffened for a moment, Uti swallowed her saliva roughly, and then her eyes looked up at Weeby.
Weeby seemed to let out a long breath, and the girl was relieved that Uti had returned to her senses.
"Geez, why are you daydreaming? I called you earlier too."
"Sorry."
Weeby shook her head slowly. "What's on your mind? What were you thinking until I called you earlier and you didn't answer?"
"Nothing."
Impossible, there must be something on her best friend's mind. If not, why did Uti's face look blank just now? She looked like she was thinking about a heavy and complicated problem.
"Really?" Weeby confirmed that perhaps Uti suddenly wanted to tell her whatever it was that had disturbed her peace.
Uti smiled, "Nothing; you just relax. I'm sorry if I ignored you just now, but I really don't have anything."
Although she was a little hesitant about Uti's answer, and in fact Weeby was very sure that there was something that disturbed her best friend's mind, as a result, Weeby chose to nod. There was no way she would interrogate that girl, right? That would look weird, and Uti would also be made uncomfortable later. There was nothing Weeby could do. The girl knew that there were limits, it was impossible for everyone to tell all their problems to others.
"Don't daydream too much at school, I heard that this school is haunted, there are many demons." Weeby said while shuddering in horror at the thought of encountering a spirit.
Uti almost burst out laughing. "There are no demons. I don't believe in that."
"Seriously, the school gardener said he often sees the apparition of an old lady who always walks around the school area. Isn't that scary?"
"Alright, why are you thinking about that now? I don't think it's important at all."
"Yes, it's not important, but we have to be vigilant."
"There's nothing to watch out for other than really bad people. They're more dangerous than ghosts."
"Yeah, you're not wrong."
They had now reached the door of the restroom. Before they entered, they both looked at each other.
"Come on, let's go in to change."
"Uti." Weeby resisted the movement of Uti's hand that was already tightening the handle of the student bathroom door, Uti then did not open the door, she chose to pause, then looked at Weeby with furrowed eyebrows.
"Why?"
"If there's anything, contact me, if you need a place to vent or talk, you tell me, you just come to me, I'm ready to listen to what's on your mind. Remember, I'm your best friend. So, do you understand what I mean?"
Uti nodded sincerely, now fully turned around. Uti held both of Weeby's shoulders, squeezing them slightly. "I appreciate it, thank you very much. I'll remember your words just now, you yourself should also do the same, okay? Just let me know if there are things you want to share with me."
"Yes, and I remember the Resti incident, right? When I was accused of being pregnant by her? Even though she was the one who was pregnant?"
"Yes, there's no way I'd forget that."
"Well, you're the only one who didn't leave my presence. When everyone stayed away from me and didn't want to get close to me, you weren't like them at all, you were different, you stayed by my side and supported me completely. You believe in me, and that really means a lot. You're my true friend."
In fact, when she said those emotional words, Weeby's eyes were glazed over. Uti was touched, really. Then she hugged Weeby for a while.
"I know what I have to do, and I know that if you're not wrong, I'll always be there for you."
"Thanks, I'll do something similar."
Uti stroked Weeby's back gently, her movements calming Weeby down. The next second, Uti released her embrace. "Come on, we have to change into our gym clothes now."
"Yes, but there's no need to rush, there's still plenty of time."
The two of them then entered the toilet, which was not large, and after closing the door, both Uti and Weeby immediately covered their noses.
"It smells so bad!" Weeby fanned her face with her other hand.
"Who doesn't pee like this? I don't really feel at home, let's move next door, I can't stand the smell."
"It's really annoying, it disgusts me too. Let's move." Weeby immediately pulled her hand out of her hiding place. Then after that, once the two were outside, relief flooded both of them.
"Let's move to the side." Uti suggested. There were three toilets lined up. And they entered the bathroom in the middle.
To change clothes like this, girls would choose to go in together, there was nothing to be surprised about.
They both hurriedly put on their gym clothes. This one was a bit better, but being inside the bathroom for too long made both of them uncomfortable.
Now they were outside when they were done. They headed back to class.
"How was your group project with Novan yesterday? Is it finished yet?"
"It's done, one hundred percent done." Uti answered with a smile, this one problem relieved her, she didn't need to panic anymore.
"Oh, good then."
"You're right; Novan is not as bad as I assumed, he's a reliable boy. Just collect the assignments later."
"That's what I said, right?"
"I'm also no longer emotional now. It's safe now."
"What are you with Novan for?"
"There is something, you'll find out later." You also didn't tell me yesterday."
"Ih, you're like that. Tell me now, I'm curious. I'll tell you too."
"You go first, then me. I asked first."
Weeby put on a sullen face, but she answered anyway, while Uti listened with a chuckle. "I made a toy car out of plywood, and I used flip-flops for the wheels. That's the task I chose with Marcell. Already done, right? Now it's your turn to make what, tell me."
"Yes, I'll tell you now." Uti cleared her throat for a moment before she began. "I made a playhouse."
"Using what?
"Plywood and ice cream sticks."
"Oh, I can imagine. How did it turn out?"
"Just be satisfied, I'm not really chasing grades, whatever grades I and Novan get, it doesn't matter, I'll accept it."
"I'm the same, I'm the same way."
"The important thing is to do the assignment, right?"
Weeby agreed with everything Uti said. Then suddenly they had arrived at the class. "How come it's so fast, I felt like it took so long when I left."
"That's normal, we feel that the journey home is faster than going."
"Yes, I feel that way too. Why is that? It's just weird."
"I've read the explanation on the internet, but I forgot."
"Well, why even think about it? It's not important." Weeby moved her hand in front of her face, then she pulled Uti's hand quickly. "Let's put the uniform on, and then follow the others to the field."
