Chapter # 41

I nodded and gave her a side hug as I left to get something for us to eat. I bought a sandwich for us from a bakery and some muffins.

I went to her, she was in the park she told me about. I saw her sitting on a bench, talking to Marianne.

The realization of her previous words sank in me, when Marianne asked her if she loved me and Rebecca couldn't answer.

“Oh Lord…”

My heart began to beat fast as mystifying thoughts came to my mind and caused a commotion, filling me with an eerie yet satisfactory feeling.

I looked at Rebecca and no matter how much I try, my eyes can't look at Marianne as if I cannot go anywhere else leaving Rebbecca, like I am made for her.

‘It's because we are married… right?’

I can't possibly think about Rebecca like this. I just liked it when I touched her or whenever I saw her smile, it gave me deep solace and- wait what?

No, no, no, I just want to liberate Rebecca from her fears, ‘nothing’ else.

“Rebecca.” I sighed and walked to them, Marianne awkwardly turned her head away but I cannot look at her, my eyes were fixed on Rebecca.

“Oh, great. You are here.”

How her hollow eyes hide her feelings and how much I love it when she shows small gestures of showing that me being with her made her feel.

“I got some sandwiches. I hope you like them.” I shrugged but she smiled.

No one but ‘me’ can do it.

She is cold, but with me, she can't hide her emotions, she can't push herself deep into those abysses that are eating her up and I will not let her too, I will become someone she strives for.

“Yeah… Come take a seat.” She gestured.

And a great problem is that Rebecca still thinks that I love Marianne. I want to tell her that I don't..

Not anymore but I don't know why these words would be good as a lie to her.

Her mind is pushing me away just because she believes that I love Marianne but every inch of her core cannot push me.

I just don't know how to make her understand that I don't love Marianne I love.. I love… leave it.

“Sure.”

Rebecca shot her head to me and passed me a faint smile when I sat.

She moved to the middle to make room for me to sit. I never thought a day would come after my marriage where all three of us would sit together.

And moreover my eyes would be fixed upon Rebecca.

"Ryan… pass it." She said to me softly, chuckling a little at my daze, dragging me from my thoughts.

"Uh.. yeah, here you go. I got some muffins too.. You like them?" I asked.

Her smile grew wider as she replied, "I love muffins."

Upon seeing her smile, my smile grew wide. “Glad to know.”

I handed her the box of sandwiches, she took out one and passed it to Marianne.

"Thanks." She said sincerely.

She gave one to me and took another one for herself. We ate in silence, the silence didn't make me feel uneasy or anything, it was somehow soothing.

My eyes were fixed upon Rebecca. No matter how icy she is, her eyes shine in innocence which is somehow enticing. She is so tempting, I want to touch her, hold her, kiss her.

How a little intimacy made her flushed, it made me feel strange sensations.

After eating the sandwich, I only bought two muffins, only for the two of us. I didn't know she liked them that much.

"Can I eat the two of them?" She asked sweetly.

‘How can I say no to that voice?’

"Of course." I smiled. She smiled and ate her muffin and I continued to look at her with my heart beating fast in elation to see her smile.

Her face is the only thing my mind could encrypt in that second, I forgot the rest.

“Tiresome day, wasn’t it?” I asked when we reached home.

“Yeah..” She hummed.

We decided to call it a day and changed and fell asleep with her snuggling close to me and me embracing her and not letting her go.

“Good night, Rebecca. Sweet dreams.”

Receiving her warmth that made my heart feel light. Feeling serene to see her sleeping peacefully, I want her to be safe in my arms forever.

“Who knows I might have them, your bed does give me peace.” She chuckled, shaking her head.

“Bed or me?” I smirked.

“Bed. Definitely not you.” She winked, teasing me as I laughed a little, holding her tightly as we remained like this.

I want to become someone who can make her feel secure. I want to walk on the path that leads me to her… maybe forever.

It's been a few months since our marriage.

“Wake up, Ryan.” She woke me up as always. We are back to our monotonous routine.

I rubbed my eyes and opened them when she shook my shoulders to wake me.

"I am awake, woman."I groaned.

"You were in a deep slumber." She frowned. I hummed and sat up. I ran my hand in my hair and looked at her, looking beautiful like always.

“Hmm. Were but not.”

I shook my head with a smile, she gave me a questioning look but I just pinched her cheek and went to the bathroom, leaving her dumbfounded.

“What’s with you?” She shook her head, smiling feebly.

I walked out wearing just my brown trousers. Rebecca's eyes widened when she saw me, a blush crept upon her cheeks as she stuttered.

"W-Wear your s-shirt, R-Ryan." I smirked and picked my beige colored shirt and wore it but I didn't close the buttons, still revealing my chest.

“Why?” I walked up to Rebecca, my dark smirk not leaving me. She hugged her sides and turned her head away.

“Oh, I am sorry, Is my body tempting you?” I chuckled huskily, putting my hand on either side of her, moving so close to her.

I feel her shivering. Her lips slightly parted, they are so inviting. I could feel the rate of her heart increasing, her face becoming crimson, stirring her mind in allure.

“Hmm?”
