CHAPTER 1

It's probably not a good idea for a proper young lady to travel alone at night using public transportation to Smallville. That is what people have been saying but Catherine Alex is not a proper young lady.

She's a gang leader's daughter on her way to her gang-leader father's house after seventeen years. She would turn twenty-one in two weeks and be diagnosed with asthma on her and her twin sister Elvira's fourth birthday. Later her father sent her to live with his second cousin in Figma P.

Their mother died after giving birth to them and her family was scared of him to protect them but later allowed him to take her and Elvira in.

According to their father, Catherine was weak and can not survive if she was to stay with him in her state.

She doesn't believe she was weak, for the past seventeen years, she had been training non-stop, now she could boost of her powers so there was no reason for her to still be in hiding.

Relaxing on the back seat of the bus, her headphone plugged on her ear and music blasting through it, Catherine hummed along, shaking her head and tapping her foot to the beat of the music as the bus speed off.

She was sure her father would be so surprised to see her if at all he would still remember her as his daughter. He must have forgotten he had twins.

For the past seventeen years, neither he nor Elvira visited her. She was left alone with the elderly woman she stayed within Figma P.

The bus came to a stop and pick up her clutches, Catherine alighted and carried her luggage from the bus trunk.

The place looked strange and unfamiliar to her and she doubt if she would still be able to find her house or know where it was located.

That wouldn't be difficult though, because her father was a popular man, it wouldn't be difficult locating his house.

She dragged her luggage along as she began walking through the busy streets.

She noticed someone was following her by the time she turned to the next street.

She had been feeling that way since she alighted from the bus but she chose to ignore it.

She continued walking, her skirt was new and she doesn't want any stains on it, she also wouldn't want to waste anybody on her first arrival.

She continued walking but this time slowing down for him to catch up with her. A warning might be enough.

He soon got to her and she turned facing him. She immediately scrunched her nose in distaste as his odor filled her nostrils.

"Jeez how can someone be reeking so much of alcohol" she muttered barely breathing.

"Hello pretty." The haggard-looking man in front of her slurred, visibly drunk.

Once again she put her skirt into consideration and kept on walking and then felt a clammy hand on her arm trying to restrict her movements.

"Where'd you think you're going?"

He said.

She stopped and smiled.

This man clearly had no guardian angel or at least one that cares about him. Anyways who is she to convince the angel otherwise.

She decided to ignore him and continue with her journey but the man clearly didn't want to leave with his teeth intact. He grabbed her again, this time, tightly.

She turned around, grabbed the arm with which he was holding her, and flipped him over. He landed on the floor and passed out, probably from the impact of the fall to his head.

Poor thing.

On the bright side, her skirt was fine and untouched. She then used her booted leg to push him into a nearby gutter lest he gets run over by a car.

"I am a good person and I can't have that on my conscience, Especially not the very day I arrive in Smallville." She said in her mind.

She got to a coffee shop, she remembered that shop as to where her father's second in command takes them to every morning for a cup of coffee when she was still in Smallville.

On getting in, she saw the man at the counter. Mr. Patrick as she remembered his name was.

He's all gotten old now unlike when she was here. Well, it's seventeen years ago so he ought to.

"Good evening Papi" she greeted him in the name they normally call him and since she was an identical twin, he would easily recognize her just not as Catherine but Elvira.

"Catherine" he called out shocking her to the bone. She wondered how he was able to recognize her as Catherine.

"You recognized me?" She couldn't help but ask. Her eyes were still widened in shock.

"I do, you both might be identical to others but to me, you both looked different," he said.

She furrowed her brows in confusion. What was he talking about? "Papi, what do you mean?" She asked and he smiled lightly.

"Never mind Catherine. You've gotten so big" he exclaimed.

"Sit, I'll get you a cup of coffee" he added. As much as she would love to have his coffee, she needed to get to the mansion first.

"I'm sorry Papi but I need to go to the house first, I need your help with the address. I would surely return for the coffee" she assured him and he nodded.

Getting a pen and paper, he scribbled the address and handed back the paper to me. Thanking him, Catherine walked out of the shop and headed home.

As much as she look forward to seeing Elvira, she couldn't help but be envious. She wondered how it felt to grow up with a parent, to not be the one that got sent away to be hidden like a bad smell.

She was sure father had his reasons but she couldn't help but wonder if it was worth it.

Should she be happy seeing him or angry he cared so little that he sent her away to some relation he barely knew. Not to mention the fact that she wasn't allowed to speak to him except on her birthdays which doesn't even last for ten years.

She would have been a depressed child. Thank God for friends, humor, and memes. Not necessarily in that order.

She has a good sense of humor and her ability to find humor in every situation and make people laugh draws people to her but later her dry sarcasm and dark humor pushed them away and ended up leaving her with two friends throughout her life.
