She was leaving for the safehouse tomorrow—tonight was his only chance. He’d have to act under cover of darkness!

Serene fell silent, thinking.
“I don’t have any spells that’ll make someone sleep through anything,” she finally replied, “but I do have magic that can temporarily numb pain.”
