Chapter 7

Damien’s POV_

It didn't take long for her to explain what had happened that day to me. She had memorized the car’s plate number which made it even easier for us.

Hopefully we are dealing with amateurs and we would be able to find them with that little information.

She says that she doesn't have anyone who would want to kidnap the children. No enemies or anything but I don't believe her. You don't get stalked for days by random people. There's something she's not telling me.

It would have been better if I had learnt about my children in a better way than this. But I think she was being serious when she said she wouldn't have told me about them if this didn't happen. I can't say I'm happy they got kidnapped but I still can't say I'm not.

My father wanted a child to succeed after me, and when he realized I had no plans of coming back with a mate he started pushing Isabelle towards me for her to be mine. Isabelle never found her mate and I never told me I had rejected my mate, a mate who was seated before me and talking about my kidnapped children.

Right, my children. Now my father doesn't have just one heir but three. I don't have to mate with Isabelle anymore. There's no need for a Luna when I'm already a great Alpha.

I look at Ariana when she yawns for what seemed to be the fifth time since we started talking.

According to my wolf who has been communicating with hers, she ran here for three days straight without rest. It's only normal for her to feel tired.

Initially I thought she was faking concern for the children and was behind the kidnapping, I couldn't possibly rule her out as a suspect. But I don't think she is the one, she seemed so attached to them to be their kidnapper. But she could be faking it still.

“Go to sleep. You seem tired." I tell her while standing up. We've been sitting by her table and talking about the possible reasons someone cojld have kidnapped the children and who would have wanted to do that.

Her eyes follow my movement in surprise, and I immediately tell she is about to lie and say she is not.

“I'm not tired, I can still help look for them." She says immediately and I sigh.

While I don't like her, I don't think our children would like it if their mother dies due to over exhaustion.

And does she think she's going to help look for them? All I expect her to do is wait for me to bring back the children and that's it.

“ I don't know how your wolf is communicating with mine even when I already rejected you, but she says that you haven't rested for three days and I wouldn't want you to die before I find the children. So sleep.” I ordered her, I didn't miss her wincing when I mentioned the rejection but I ignored it.

When she realized that I wasn't going to back down on getting her to sleep, she muttered something under her breath before she walked over to her bed and laid down.

I stared at her expecting her to close her eyes and sleep. I stood by her table, waiting for her to sleep. I wouldn't leave here until she falls asleep.

She stared back at me not wanting to give in to defeat, but I could see that she was tired. Sighing after three minutes, she closes her eyes giving in to the sleep.

I watched her for a while to make sure she was sleeping. She seemed still after a while and I panicked, taking a step forward to go and check if she was still alive. When I see her chest going up and down to indicate that she was still breathing, I stopped myself.

I shouldn't get involved with her, she's not my mate so I shouldn't be bothered.

But I can't deny the fact that she is beautiful. She should be twenty-one, or twenty two at the most. So she was probably nineteen when she gave birth to the children, and from all she has said about herself, which isn't much by the way, she doesn't have anyone to call family. So she gave birth to the children alone and trained them for three years alone.

She is strong, I have to give her that.

My wolf hummed in agreement with me.

“Take a picture, it lasts longer.” She says completely surprising me. I thought she was sleeping.

Ignoring her comment, I turn around and walk out of the room.

She was supposed to be sleeping.

The moment I leave the room, I see Isabelle walking back and front while muttering to herself. A scowl immediately forms on my face. I need to talk to father about cancelling the arranged mating.

She stops her pacing when she sees me, running to me and holding my hand. I immediately pull my hand away.

“What do you want?" I ask her, the scowl still on my face. If she didn't make it obvious from day one that the only thing she wanted from me was the Luna title then the way I treated her would have been different.

“Damien. You don't really believe her, do you? Do you believe that the children are yours? I don't even think they are real, I think those pictures are fake. You should throw her into the dungeon immediately." She rushes out, and with each passing second the scowl on my face deepens.

So she understands that her role as the Luna is being threatened by Ariana being here. And she's trying to get rid of competition. She's smart, or trying to be smart.

She knows that once an Alpha heir is chosen, his mother ends up being the Luna if the alpha chooses.

“Damien you don't really believe her do you?" She asks once again when I don't reply to her.

“That day, you didn't sleep with anyone. So I know the children are not yours. I know what happened that day and.." she starts rambling but I stare at her, trying to understand what she just said.

“What happened that day?"
