Chapter 67

After Monique offered Sophie an opportunity that might lead her to get what she wanted, she headed home with plans and hope flying inside her mind.

Who would have thought that she’d come across an opportunity this rare, at a time where she needed it the most? Ms. Monique’s timing was perfect! Her composure which she built before she enter so she would look formaly and respectful vanished in an instant the moment she heard what she said.

It didn’t even matter how Ms. Monique asked her that out of nowehere. Sophie was happy, and she felt more motivated.

“You look happy, My Lady.” Flora, who was beside her, spoke with calmness and enjoyment residing in her face. “Is it because Ms. Monique is teaching you starting tomorrow?”

Sophie nodded her head. “Yes, Flora. I just think her timing is perfect. And isn’t she nice? She sounded so kind, and she looked pure!”

“Indeed.” Flora agreed.

“Do you think I should come forward with Ms. Monique?”

Sophie never disclosed the fact that she never knew anything about healing to anyone. She thought Axel and Hugo knew it, but aside of those two, Sophie didn’t think anyone else knew. She was always inside the Palace. Furthermore, she never healed anyone from the pack beside her sister, and Axel.

“Come forward?” Flora didn’t get it with the vague terms Sophie used.

“I meant honesty.” Sophie looked at both her hands, as if she could see the glow in it. “Do you think she’d change if she finds out I know nothing about this prowess?”

“She’s a teacher, isn’t she?” Flora softly asked Sophie. “It is her job to eradicate ignorance by sharing her knowledge.”

Indeed.

Sophie saw how passionate Ms. Monique was. How she was thorough in teaching even with the high ranked youngster wolves. There was care in it. Not because she was tasked to do this, but because she wanted to guide them. Also, when Ms. Monique idenitified the chosen healers’ rank, her behavior didn’t change. She treated them equally.

But was that enough to consider her as someone trustable?

“I guess, I should think hard about that.”

The world would not end tomorrow. Sophie thought that as days passed, she’d eventually be able to read her core, and when that happened, she’ll step-forward with her honesty.

“Before coming clean to Ms. Monique, I think you should first deal with the Alpha, My Lady.” Flora reminded her. “That was to avoid further misunderstanding from the future.”

“You’re becoming more rational, Flora.” Sophie turned to her servant and gave her a teasing look. “How about I hire you as my advicer?”

What Flora said was the right thing to do. If she didn’t want to inflict any problem to their relationship, she should let the Alpha know, even if it meant not being able to go tomorrow. Afterall, if he desired to, she would still stop the moment he found out.

“I have started to understand you more, My Lady. I got the hang of listening to your thoughts, and opinion. I think I didn’t become rational. I just have the overall angle of your perspective.”

“Hmmm.” Sophie let out a mischievous smile. “You’ve become well-spoken, too.”

“Did I?” Flora responded with the same energy.

As much as she could, Flora wanted to help Sophie. Until the day come that her true nature will be revealed, she wanted

to stay close to her, and fulfilled her role as her servant. It was the only thing that had been keeping her sane. She might have been a traitor, but she wanted to prove to herself that until the very end, she was genuine to Sophie.

The discussion with Edward finished at four in the afternoon. Axel left the conference room to head back to his covert to get away from Edward, who had been pointing out his temper indirectly throughout the whole long talk. He was a pain, but he gained something.

Today, he felt more confident. Not that he was threatened. He just felt like his work lessed by taking steps ahead from August. Now, he can finally go home early without any concern regarding the war. Since the training of both the warrior wolves and healers had already started, all he needed to do was wait.

Axel walked towards his table to get his things. He decided he was going home today, despite Edward’s presence. His mate, Rebecca was here, so Axel knew he’d be okay.

Speaking of Rebecca, Axel had asked Efraim if there was a way to remove Ramiya’s baby from her womb and Efraim said there was one. Now, if Rebecca was to further test him and his patience, he was sure to ask Efraim, knowing he cannot say no after all the things he had done to him.

But not only that. After the war, he was thinking about asking Efraim for his knowledge about conceiving a baby. Axel wanted to find out if it has something with the history, or some connection within the wolves. Since there were also cases from his pack regarding couples that never had children no matter how much they tried. Axel wanted to reveal the reason behind it, and he will soon.

Axel sent a message to Hansel before he left the covert to get to his Limoo. He rode the transportation car he was always using, alone, and left the base.

––

On the other side, inside a secluded house near the base, was Rebecca, and her servant. She stayed home today upon receiving the news from her little informant, Flora, that Edward was going to have a talk with Axel.

It was quite surprising, even for Rebecca herself. She spent a long time with Axel, but he had never saw him made efforts like what he was doing these days. He was even willing to communicate with Edward just to ensure the victory. It was intriguing, but what happened today in Sophie’s end was something she also wanted to know.

This morning was the last time Flora updated her, and Rebecca had been noticing how Flora would avoid the topic about Sophie, as if protecting her from Rebecca’s interest. She found it ridiculous for a servant to care so much for her master. Especially, when she was stabbing her in the back without Sophie’s awareness.

“Ms. Rebecca, the Alpha of the Dark Silvers had just arrived.” Rebecca heard her servant spoke quite loud from outside the door.

Rebecca tuck the few strands of her hair behind her ear, and went back to the edge of the bed before she responded back.

It has been a lot of days since they last saw each other. Though, Rebecca was also busy with other things. She cannot deny that she missed Edward. His kisses, and clinginess. She longed for it, every night.

“Let him come in!”

Like the Alpha of the Western Border, Edward was busy too with his pack so he couldn’t come often. Though they had agreen he would visit his often, at the end of the day, it was still not up to Edward. Especially now that Axel had contact him to add more work.

The knob on Rebecca’s knob got twisted. She knew who was behind it, so she prepared herself. The door opened, and Edward appeared. He stepped inside and shut the door closed.

Rebecca plastered a sweet smile in her face before she stood up to greet her Alpha. “It has been a while, My love.”

Rebecca hugged Edward. Her mate’s scent instantly filled her nostrills, and it satisfied her longingness.

“I missed you..” Edward hugged him back.

He pressed her head against his chest and caressed her hair. Edward then leaned down a bit to reach the top of Rebecca’s head. He planted a soft kiss on it, before she felt him pulled out.

“I heard you talked with Axel…” Rebecca reached for his cheek. “What did you talk about?”

“He asked for a favor, My Queen. He wanted to know if August intended to bring an ally in the battlefield.”

“Isn’t that what Wesleyeian did?” Rebecca’s brows furrowed. “If the Crimson Red knew about that, then, certainly, they would.”

“Yeah…” Edward nodded. “Axel is anticipating it, so he asked me to do a relayed bait to get information.”

Edward lifted his eyebrows. Now that they’re talking about it, he remembered how he felt hearing Axel talk about war like

some genius. Though he had been indirectly attacking his tamed behavior. Edward was impressed. Axel was thorough that it actually scared and amazed him at the same time. Edward thought that if he was to stand in the battlefield against Axel, there would be seventy percent chance he’d lose.

He thought Axel wasn’t just strong. He was also using his head.

“Are you going to help him?”

“Of course.” Edward held her Queen’s right cheek and gave her a light kiss on her nose’s bridge. “We’re allies now. Besides, this is the pack you came from.”

“Hmm.” Rebecca removed Edward’s hand from her face to hold it.

Rebeca dragged Edward towards the bed by pulling his hand. Rebecca had already figure out what happened through Flora. She just wanted to act like she was interested.

“Since you’re about to be busy again, why not do something to make it up to me?” Rebecca showed him a sweet smile.

Now this, this was what she was after. To satisfy her longingness. To make up for the nights they weren’t together. And to fulfill her needs. Afterall, this was the only thing that got her mesmerized. The kind of pleasure that Edward gave her the night before she got separated from Axel.
