The number of wolves who showed to join the party kept increasing every minute. High ranked, and low ranked. Kids, teens, elders. Wolves with different ranks and age were scattered around the area. Axel’s expectation was met to have a party accessible to all. Regardless of anything.
From six to eight, wolves were free to wander around. Which meant they were given approximately two hours before the real fun of the party start. All sorts of entertainers exhibited their skits, dance, and performance during that time. It was to kept the wolves accompany. To give them a bit of what the party would be all about. More like an appetizer, before the heavy meals were served.
And it wasn’t only Sophie who was fascinated by how the whole place was arranged.
For the wolves who lived in the villages around the Capital, whose source of money was selling fruits and vegetables they plant in their land. They didn’t have the capacity to live with grandeur. Free foods. Equal treatment. High quality alcohol. Most importantly, the freedom to be what they wanted to be for a night.
It was almost a implausible.
Thus, each of them made sure to enjoy the night as much as they could. For the next day, everything will return to its usual place, and the wolves, to their current situation. The pressure of the all out war would come knocking at their door the moment the sun appear. Regardless, they were beyond grateful just to be here.
To have the whole night to breath.
“This is truly amazing, Alpha.” Hansel looked at him with honest delight. “I have only been to formal gathering. So, this is completely new to me. But this is wonderful. To have a party accessible to all wolves regardless of their rank is brilliant.”
They were in front of the statues, beside the long table around the central of the Capital. Looking out to those who were walking with their loved ones. Even Axel himself, who was the one who suggested this idea, was charmed. He did not thought this was how wonderful it would turn out. He had no idea that seeing your own in one place, without boundaries, and limitations, were pretty satisfying.
He could totally see how happy his wolves were about this. Even the kids.
“We should do this again once the war was over.”
“But it would cost you a fortune, Alpha.” Hansel turned to him. He was holding the glass of wine Edward had given him when they toasted.
“Indeed, it would.” The Alpha let out a small smile, before he took a sip on his drink.
This whole party was subjected to him. All of the compensation would be for the Alpha to pay. Not to mentioned he gave his word that he would reward those who would contribute meaningfully to this banquet. He spent a lot of money to make this happen. But repeating this twice in a row would certainly cost him a sack of diamonds.
No. Maybe even twice of that amount.
“I’ll let Efraim and Edward contribute.”
“Contribute for our party?” Hansel’s brows furrowed.
“Contribute for the party celebration of our victory, Hansel. Efraim is a soft hearted person, so is Edward. They would definitely pay for their share.”
“I hope you don’t find this an insult, Alpha. But these days, you seem to be doing well with connecting with the other leader.” Hansel commented.
“Efraim is a good man, Hansel. Both he and Edward, although I do not deny that I did not like Edward at first.”
Hansel chortled. “We noticed.”
Axel shook his head a little, smiling. Edward was a person worth of trust. He did not just like him before because he became Rebecca’s partner right after their separation. It kind of insulted him. But as his feelings for Rebecca changed.
He gradually saw what kind of man Edward truly was.
Especially when he lend him a hand during the first week he was preparing for the war.
Efraim on the other hand, Axel had liked him the first time they talked. Efraim was easy to read. He was vocal with his emotions. He was honest. Genuine. He did not fear losing his ego because he prioritized his men first. For Axel, it was one way to know what kind of leader he was. A true man. A real Alpha.
It was one of the reasons he felt the need to help him. Why he wanted to fully support him.
“Are you glad the Western Border finally made an alliance?” Axel asked, his eyes still peeing at the wolves who were having a blast.
“I am, Alpha.”
The Alpha’s decision to ally with the Wesleyeians and the Eastern Border were unexpected, but satisfactory. Not only it would assure their warriors’ future in war; it would also help their country’s prosperity to continue. The Wesleyeians were wolves known for their intelligence. Whilst the Eastern Border for their connections, and riches.
“Then I stall maintain my good relationship with them.” The Alpha turned to him, and raised his glass a little, as if offering a toast. “For the brighter future of the pack.”
Hansel raised his glass, toasting the Alpha. “For the brighter future of the pack.”
The time leaped. The two hours given to those who participated in the party ended. All were asked to find seats and wait for the food that will be given to him. Meat. Chicken. Vegetables. Drinks. Even desserts. The main course was handed out to each of the present wolves. Those who would ask for more could go the bouffet on the Central of the town, where Sophie, Axel, the Elders, and Edward was in.
It was the second phase of the party. After they fill themselves with food that Axel had chosen himself, they would gather in the Central to watch the female wolves danced their ritual dance.
“Congratulations, Alpha, Ms. Sophie.”
“I will pray for you and your baby’s healthy, Ms. Sophie. Congratulations.”
“Congratulations, Ms. Sophie, Kind Sir. Please, allow us to show our appreciation to the unborn heir.”
Tons of wolves came to the Central to personally greet Sophie, and Axel. Some of the nobles event sent a gift. Even his bestfriend, Jake. Whom she hadn’t seen since the first time he went to the Palace.
Not long before that, the two wolves Sophie had been waiting for since she came here showed up. Shara and her Aunt. She asked her to take a sit on the table, and had them introduced to the other Alpha, Edward.
The party ended just like that. The grand party for Sophie and Axel’s child came to an end. The time began to flow again, putting them back to the corner where they were before the fleeting dream.
The next day, Axel paid for everything as promised. He rewarded those who played their part at the party. The training continued. The healers went back on their track, except for Sophie, who had sacrificed her desire to learn to take care of the pack’s heir.
The training for the all out war commenced. Until the day Efraim and his men return to deliver the good news that would greatly help them in the war. Edward, Axel, Efraim, and the Elders set up a meeting once again. To read the book, and learn the truth about the special ability Efraim spoke about.
