Chapter 84

Just like what the three Alphas agreed to, Efraim showed up after their venture to exposed what was long before hidden. The book that contained their kind’s secret. The special ability Efraim claimed they have. But it was still a mystery. Now, they were on the process of assessing what was inside, to fully understand how it worked, and how they could use it. To determine if it could become their ‘key’ to success.

Still, whilst it was indeed a real book, not fabricated, or simply created out of imaginations, Axel, Edward, and the two of the Council kept their mind open to what they could possibly learn inside.

Axel was the first one who dared to read the text. Though it was ancient, and certainly a little different to the modern language they have now, Axel had lived enough to be able to understand what was on it. Thus, he read what was important and necessary to know, and spoke it aloud so Edward, Efraim, and the Elders could hear it.

The book hold a very strict information. Axel had believed he truly understood what Efraim’s ancestors reason for keeping it a secret to all of them. It could be a weapon that those with weak heart could use to erase them. At the same time, it could help those who wanted to vanquish evil. A double edge sword, so Axel called it.

By reading the book, Axel learned the history. How the goddess bestowed it to her four first creation. And how it was passed through their brethren. But as the wolves reproduce, and evolve, they began to fight each other. The prowess the Goddess gifted her wolves to protect themselves became a deadly weapon to kill each other. So, she sealed it.

The requirements that it needed to reactivate it was also written in the book. Except it wasn’t easy to understand.

“If you so desire, then you may use it. Call forth the power sealed within you, and awaken it…” Axel read the text aloud, pausing a little to glance at Efraim. “For it also desire to fulfill its purpose.”

“Its purpose…” Efraim mumbled. “To protect the wolves… Its purpose was to protect the wolves.”

“Is this power for defense? Would it only show if we call upon it, at times we find ourselves near the death’s door?” Edward asked, inquisitive.

The phrase that indicated how to unseal the prowess was a bit tricky. It was vague. But it was as if it was purposely written that way.

“I don’t think it’s a defense power.” Efraim objected. “The book states why the Goddess sealed the power. To stop the wolves from killing each other.”

“Call forth and awaken it…” Axel unconsciously repeated. “So, it doesn’t need consent from the Goddess?”

“Seems that way.” Efraim responded, before he walked towards Axel to held the book.

August’s army was certainly no joke. They had the taste of it when one of August’s General, together with its subordinates showed up. They were no match. If they were to head in the battlefield with the way they were, the chances would be fifty-fifty. Depending on how much of August army had already been injected by the drug.

Even with Hugo, and his right hand men, it’ll still be impossible.

“Alright.” Axel crossed his arms, before he turned to Efraim. “Figure out the mystery in the text, while we continue with the training. Did you bring all of your men?”

Efraim nodded. “I did. One of the Elders, Rogelio, is taking care of them right now.”

“I will be the one to train them, Efraim. We don’t have enough time, so I’ll have my healers heal them every twelve hours to shorten the time of rest their body would require.” Axel said, informing the Wesleyeian’s leader. “You can leave them to me. Focus on figuring out how we could activate the special ability.”

“The book is already one thing…” Edward stood up. “Who would’ve thought we’d also have special ability sealed within us?”

Their strength and ability to transmute was already a gift. But to have a special ability like the vampires and withes… It was fascinating, even for the Alpha like him.

“Edward. Can your spy still do something for us?”

“Of course.”

“The formula of the drug created by the human scientist. I need it.”

After the banquet, Sophie’s relatives, Shara and her aunt came to the Palace with them. The two had already agreed to the invitation proposed by Sophie. As they were already aware of the war. They knew it was the least they could do to support her.

“I created a guild.” Sophie motioned her eyes to communicate with her sister. But since her aunt was still listening, she had to say it aloud. “A guild for unprivileged wolves who have healing power like me.”

It had been long since they last saw each other. When Sophie visited them at their house in the village where she lived, she could only tell some of the recent events that had happen. She wanted to fill them now that they have the time to talk about it as much as they want.

“A guild?” Shara signalled her hands as a respond. “I believe I heard the rumors about the Alpha’s Luna visiting every village. But to think you’d actually build a guild.”

“Right?” Sophie chuckled. “It wasn’t my intention at first. But as I go on, I find myself attracted to those who are in need. I knew I had to do something.”

“It that the reason why you wanted to learn more about healing?” Her aunt asked.

It was different. But she can’t say it didn’t motivate her more. Because it did. Although she pushed to do it to be able to enter the battlefield, upon realizing that learning more could actually help the guild and the wolves she recruited inspired her.

Only it would be postponed for months since she was pregnant.

“You can say that.” Sophie responded, not wanting to expose that she dare to dream of entering the battlefield. She knew it would freak the two of them up.

Sophie’s aunt held her hand as she sit on the bed with her sister, Shara. Her Aunt was on the chair beside the huge bed on Sophie’s shared lair with the Alpha.

“Sophie, I know this isn’t something you can disclosed without the Alpha’s permission. But at least allow me to ask. The war does not have a wage, does it?”

“Wage?”

“A prize to those who will win the war.”

“Prize? No. Axel wouldn’t do that, Auntie.”

Axel may have been cold and heartless at times. But he was not a monster to risk the lives of his men in the battlefield. She knew him. They live together. She saw how much he wanted to win this war. Originally, if it wasn’t for the Crimson Red’s sudden attack, Axel wouldn’t have decide to make it an all out war. But he had to.

They would be up against a big enemy this time. An enemy who had the help of a human excellent in physical and natural science.

Sophie’s aunt heaved a deep sigh. “I am sorry I had to ask. I just heard your servant, Flora, talk to a woman this morning. They seemed to be talking about the war, and I caught a bit of their conversation.”
