Nick's POV
We have been waiting for Kyle to return and it almost an hour plus since she left. Honesty my patient was running out, Harry doesn't seem bothered with the fact that she is taking forever to get back.
“Will, you just calm down, I'm sure she would join us soon,” Harry said.
We were waiting in the woods, and Harry had made a magic circle that was protecting us from being seen by anyone. I wonder its usefulness since no one ever comes through this way.
“I still think we should go and check if she is fine,” I insisted.
“How will you see her, have you forgotten she is a tiny winy insect now? Don't worry she would come to us,”
“Well, I hope for your sake that she is fine,” I said to him while trying to sit my ass down as my legs were seriously starting to ache from starting for so long.
“Do you mind telling me that little drama you had going on back in the cell,” Harry said with a bit of drama?
“What are you talking about” I questioned pretending to be ignorant Of what he was talking about.
“You and Kyle, what is going on between you two? and please don't fool me with the sibling love thingy, because I know what I saw”
“If you know what you saw then why are you asking me questions?”
“She is your mate, isn't she?” he questioned.
His question made me turn to look at him, to see if he knows what he is talking about. His look is sure that he's damn certain of what he just asked. Too bad I am not one to easily give in to anything.
“What do you know about mates” I questioned.
“Enough to know that you can't be related if she is your mate, so start spilling, who are you?”
“You are right, kyle is my mate, but she is also my sister”
“That is not possible unless you are saying the moon goddess made a mistake and the last time I checked, she never makes any”
“Can we please change this topic, I don't want to talk about it”
“Well since you said please, I will let go of it, for now. But, I will bring it up some other time” he said, in a teasing manner.
“Thank you,” I said letting out a sigh of relief.
“Just so you know, I know Vanessa is not the real mother of kyle,” he said nonchalantly.
Now that was not what I was expecting to hear, as I looked at him surprised that he knew what Vanessa thought was a secret.
“What did you say?”
“Oh please, it is an old secret between my mom and Vanessa, trust me no one knows of it. Vanessa made my mother promise her that she would tell kyle the truth should anything happen to her,”
“And your mother told you”
“A mother would tell her child anything for safe keep, and since you are my new best friend, I thought it would be wise for you to know”
“We are not friends,”
“And here we are”
“Did bella know about this?”
“No, what do you take me for? Although bella had her doubts, she knows nothing about it and here she comes," Harry said pointing towards a mosquito heading our way.
He said some incantations in Latin and kyle transformed into her real self.
“What happened, you had me worried,” I said to her and was about to take her into my arms when I noticed she was a bit reluctant.
I felt a bit hurt about how she turned me down, but a better part of me was glad that she was safe and sound.
“Did you see bella?” Harry asked
“Yes, I did. But I don't think she wants to be rescued, kyle said sadly to harry.
“What do you mean?” Harry asked.
“She has agreed to become Richard luna, I'm so sorry to har,” kyle said in a very empathic tone. Seeing her get emotional with harry made me a bit jealous.
Don't judge me.
I mean, does she even know how much I am hurting right now? Even if she does know, does she care?
“It's okay, she has made her choice I think we should start leaving before someone notices our presence,” Harry said, trying to act all brave as if what kyle just said did not get to him.
An elderly woman starts walking towards our direction with two other younger women who appeared to be her apprentice.
“This is the woman I saw with Miranda,” kyle said, as the woman walked past us without seeing us.
But after walking a few steps, she stops to look back at where we stood for some seconds before continuing her journey.
“Okay, who is she?” I asked a troubled-looking kyle.
“She is a witch, I know her very well, I think she sensed our presence,” Harry said while trying to pack up so we can be on our way.
“I heard her tell Miranda that, Miranda should look for her daughter and kill her else the daughter will kill Miranda instead”
“I don't understand,” I said wondering if kyle knew what she was talking about. Maybe the transformation to mosquito had her brain messed up.
“Exactly my confusion the first time, it appears that Miranda had a daughter years ago, and according to Miranda she left the child to be eaten by a wild beast in the woods after she was told that her daughter would bring about her doom. And when the woman asked if she saw the child die, she said no.
The woman then told Miranda that her daughter was alive and that she should look for her and kill her, else the reverse would be the case. She is such a monster, I mean which mother kills her baby? And now she has ordered that all girls between the age of eighteen and nineteen be brought to her” Kyle said in a disappointing tone.
While she spoke, my mind flashed back to what Vanessa had told me about how she found kyle in the bush. Miranda thought that kyle was dead and that was the reason she never bothered looking for her all those years. But if Miranda is the mother of kyle, then who is her father.
My father can't be her dad, because Vanessa would have recognized him while in the bush. So who was the man that was with Miranda on the day they dropped off baby kyle in the bush?
Watching Kyle so gloomy made my heartache, I wanted to just hold her and reassure her that nothing is going to ever happen to her as long as I am alive.
How do I tell her that she is the one that Miranda is looking for and that Miranda is her real mother? How would she feel that her mother almost had her mated to her brother?
Looking at kyle now, she does share a certain resemblance with Miranda.
“We have company,” Harry said as he quickly brings out charms in his backpack while saying some Latin words. He blew a white substance into the air and I almost jumped out of my skin when the elderly woman we watched leave earlier stood so close to us staring at kyle most scarily.
“What the fuck,” I exclaimed as I quickly pulled kyle behind me and placed myself in a defense mode.
“What do you want,” Harry asked the old woman while pointing a magical substance towards her.
“She is mine,” the old woman said, her voice echoing over and over again
“Sorry, she is mine now,” Harry said to her and before she could say another word, Harry broke something that look like an egg, and there was smoke everywhere.
“Run, “ he said and I dragged kyle's hand as we started running deep into the woods.
There were so many other people running after us. Though we were not about to see them, we could hear their movement from behind us.
“Why does she want me,” kyle screamed at the top of her lungs so Harry could hear her.
“No idea,” Harry said, but not for a good reason.
“Let's shift,” I said to kyle,
“I can't feel my wolf” kyle said
“Then you will have to climb me,” I said as I tried shifting, strangely I was not able to.
“What is happening,” I asked Harry
“You won't be able to shift for some time because of the transformation leaf you ate earlier”
“So what do we do,”
“We run, and maybe a bit faster”
We were a few inches away from crossing the pack borders when I saw an arrow fly right past me.
“Good, they are shooting at us,” be careful harry said.
“I am tired,” kyle said
“We will find a safe place for you to catch your breath,” I said still holding on to her hand.
We continued running and safely passed through the borders, thinking we were out of danger for the main time, and also because kyle needed to catch her breath, we stopped running.
But then I noticed Harry was restless as he kept mumbling to himself and turning around so many times as if he was seeing something we couldn't see.
“You two stay together,” he said to us while he kept mumbling.
Then, suddenly there were scary-looking people all around us, they were been led by the elderly woman we had seen earlier.
She kept steady eye contact with harry while saying some inaudible words too
“See you soon, pal,” Harry said as he smashed an object right in front of us. The next thing we discovered was that we were back home, but Harry was not with us.
“Harry!” Kyle screamed out while sobbing.
I frantically looked around to see if he would show up but there was no sign of him anywhere.
“They have him now, and this is only the beginning of what is to come,” Vanessa whom we didn't know how and where she appeared from said.
