Chapter 37

Kyle's POV

“We have to go back,” I said, after waiting in vain for someone to say something about rescuing Harry.

It's been over two hours since we got back and all my mother and the Bastard have been doing is little hush talks that I don't understand.

I was so confused as to why Harry will willingly surrender himself to those people in other to save us. My heart was beginning to race very fast but I was doing all I could to control it and not let either my mother or the bastard know that I was in pain.

I didn't want us to delay going back to rescue Harry, I believe the sooner we got there the better the chances of meeting him alive. The evil-looking very pissed with how Harry challenged her and might do something so despicable just to get back at him.

The Bastard stood at the entrance of the door, one can tell that he is puzzled by something as his eyes fixed themselves on the floor.

“Take, drink this,” my mother said handing me a freshly brewed herbal tea. Just what I need. I took a few sips and felt instant relief, my heartbeat slowed down a bit. But, I was still in a panic mood.

“Why was that woman looking for me” I questioned, not necessarily directing my question to anyone in particular?

I was trying to make sense of all that was happening, I could fathom the fact that Miranda may have sent some people after me as soon as they discovered that I was missing, what I don't understand is why this woman, in particular, would say that I was hers. The last I checked she was supposed to be looking for Miranda's daughter.

My heart was seriously throbbing and getting answers for the millions of unanswered questions going through my head would be a great way to keep my sanity in check.

I can see my mother exchange looks with the Bastard and that sparked up my curiosity even more, as I felt they knew what was happening and was deliberately trying to keep it away from me.

“What is happening, it seems you guys know something and you are not telling me,” I said to both of them.

“Kyle darling, there is something I have been keeping away from you, but know that everything I ever did was done out of love,” my mother said, as she pulled a chair to sit directing opposite me.

From her countenance, I could tell that whatever she was going to say is very serious and that scared me.

“What secret are you talking about,” I questioned,

“You are my daughter and you will always be, but not biologically,”

“What? What are you talking about?” I questioned as I felt my world crumbling right from within me.

“We found you seventeen years ago in a bush while we were getting some herbs in the bush”

“We?”

“My old aunt and I, we were in the bush fetching herbs when we heard two people arguing about what to do with a baby. We had to create a distraction that made them run away leaving you behind. We brought you home and that was how you came to start living with us, and after my aunt died, I adopted you as my own daughter” mum said amid tears that made her eyes glitters.

I was stunned, to say the least, this explains a lot of things and one of which was the fact that I didn't have the witch's gift. Another thing was that I didn't look like my mother and no wonder she has never told me anything tangible about my father. Okay, I understand it now, even though it is painful and my heart is shredding to pieces, even though I fear the worst but still I need to confirm my worst fears.

“If you are not my mother then who is,” I asked in a shaky voice, scared of what the truth might do to me.

“Miranda” the Bastard answered, his empathic face held my eyes for a few seconds before tears blurred my eyes out.

“What?” I asked as warm tears drew their line across my already sulky face. I felt a part of me die that instant, one thing is to be rejected by your parents, it's another thing when your parents want you dead.

“It's not true, please tell me it's not true,” I sobbed out loudly unable to keep the hurt I going through inside of me.

“Vanessa told me how she found you and when you came back to tell us what Miranda talked about, I figured she has to be the one,” the Bastard said, his voice heavily laced in unshed tears.

“Does that mean that I am your step-sister now,” I questioned amid my sorrow? My mother's hand was gentle on my back as she tries to placate me.

“So I thought too, but there was another man with Miranda as at the time you were dropped off, and he is not my father,” The Bastard said.

“I'm so sorry for keeping it away from you all these years, I thought it was for the best, and never did I ever think that a day such as this would come,” my mother said, her voice laced in empathy and concern.

I hugged my mother tightly, even though she just told me she is not my real mother, the bond we have created over the years is much greater than any biological bond.

“You are always going to be my mother,” I said holding on tight to her.

“And you, my darling will always be the best daughter anyone could ever wish for,” she said sobbing.

“On a lighter note,” she said pulling me to face her.

“You have a donor,” she said while wiping my tears away with her hands

“What?” I asked as a little spark of hope lit up within me.

“Yes, I was at the hospital while you were away, and they said there was a match from a donor and that they would want you to come for the procedure as soon you can,n,” mum said with a smile.

“But, Harry”

“We will go and get him, I promise you that, now you will need lots of rest, first thing in the morning, we are going to the hospital ” mum said.

I just nodded my head in agreement as I didn't know what to do or say, my emotions were pretty messed up.

“Take this, chew it, it would help you relax,” mum said as she followed me to my room.

I got to my bed and laid down while she covered me up with a blanket. She sang me beautiful lullabies, the ones I always loved listening to as a child, and soon I was fast asleep.

Nicks POV

Ever been told that you are a man and shouldn't show any emotions? Men are not supposed to cry, Men should always be brave no matter what. A man must be strong even in the face of adversity.

I have been strong, tough, and bold all through my life, but tonight I fear I am about to lose all that makes me a man. I can't keep it in anymore as my chest feels too heavy to take anything more.

Tonight, my mother has decided to donate her heart to my mate and there is nothing I can do to stop it. She has made up her mind.

I am going to lose my mother when I only just met her. When I am yet to call her my mother when I am yet to rest and cry on her shoulders. When I am yet to sake her wisdom, whom would my children call grandma and what stories will I have to tell them about their grandmother.

Tears were already littering my eyes that I didn't hear when the door opened and close till I felt her hand touch me on my shoulder.

Instinctively I stood up and hugged her tightly, I only loosen my grip when I felt I was squeezing her too hard.

“I love you mum,” I said amid tears and I could feel her tears drop on my skin.

It's so good to hear you call me mum,” she said sniffing her nose while sobbing.

“I was so stupid for being mad at you, I am so sorry,” I kept mumbling.

“I love you so much Ivar, and there is nothing that you will ever do to make me angry,” she said.

After some minutes of pure emotional display, we broke off the hug, while wiping our tears and sniffing our noses.

I watched my mother go to her room where she brought out a very old-looking native pot. She set it down on a table and opened it. She brought out some black baby hair and a white cloth stained with what I assume is blood.

“Ivar, I, your mother today release you from every enchantment, curse, or spell, by my, doing or any other person under the planet or anywhere in the world, be it living or dead, you are free to be who you were born to be. Ivar Owens, first of his kind, First son of a witch and the only true heir to the throne of his father, to rule and reign as Alpha King” she kept chanting while thunderstorm and lighting adore the dark clouds.
