Tyler POV:-
I neither expect Nicolas to be her biological brother nor her insecurity about her past.
I couldn’t notice the crack of darkness where she was submerging and falling apart.
I could have embraced her but I didn’t and now it is serving as the greatest flaw.
“What… have I done?” I lose my grip on everything, losing her.
She knows everything about me and now feeling betrayed, she probably hates whilst this agony, I still can’t let her go.
My heart is not convinced to let her go, I have done everything for her, how can I let her leave me?
“No, No, You can’t do it.”
We both hid things from each other but it’s time to fix it. I have to gather the fragments and put them together because I cannot lose my solace.
I will die without her, my whole being desires her and losing her is not an option for me.
I rushed to the hospital, how could I have been so stupid. I want to kill Elmer for doing this, how dare he.
I continued to curse myself for being so stupid, losing myself in wrath and making countless mistakes.
No swearing would be enough for me to ease my ravage.
“How’s h-he?” I asked my men.
“He is fine.” I let out a sigh of relief to hear it.
It was the first time I missed my target and I couldn’t be much thankful to God for this miracle.
I am glad at the point where I didn’t shoot him in the head or else I would have lost her forever.
If Nicolas survived, there must be a chance Candice might forgive me.
I stayed in the hospital for the rest of the night, waiting for him to wake up. I didn’t dare to go home but soon the news of Candice leaving me shook my core.
“Dammit. Dammit!”
It was expected after the deception I gave her but she can’t leave me like this. I won’t let her.
After two days, Nicolas woke up. I need to tell him a convincing fake story so he might not hate me and help me to convince Candice as well.
I told him if I didn’t shoot him, my rival would consider him my friend and could do the worst to him and his family so I had to do it…
And it actually worked.
“I see…” Nicolas hummed.
“My deepest apologies, I didn’t mean to.”
“It’s fine. I am alive.” He smiled at me.
“And Candice is extremely angry at me for this. She will not talk to me unless she sees you herself.”
“Where is she?” Nicolas asked.
I grit my teeth, lowering my head, “She left me.”
“She what?” He asked in disbelief.
“She left me. I don’t know where she is.”
“Isn’t she with Father?”
“No. She is neither at her Father nor Rufus’s apartment.” I told him.
Nicolas sighed, “I know where she might be.”
“Where?” I asked hastily.
“At my place.”
“California?” I asked and he nodded.
“I will take you there.”
“Thank you very much.” I smiled.
“Tyler… Do you love her?”
“More Than anything... Don’t you know? She is pregnant.” I told him.
“She is? She didn’t tell me.” Nicolas mumbled.
“She is. Mr Whale caused many troubles but we were finally starting our lives and this happened. I am so sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you or break my sweet life.” I said, lowering my head in shame.
“Don’t worry about it, it’s gonna be fine.” He assured me.
When Nicolas recovered I finally got my chance to go and meet Candice.
To be honest, I was burning from inside as endless fury was building inside me. I was fuming, curling my hands to contain myself.
It was nerve-wracking to think how easily she can leave me, I cannot let her go even if it means forcing her and being the person I never was.
Nicolas talked to his wife and he was right, Candice is there. We went to his home, he didn’t tell his wife that I shot him.
Nicolas is the nicest guy I have met in my entire life. He didn’t get angry, understood the fake situation I told him and constantly smiled.
I began to feel bad, I guess all of these siblings have the same gentle aura around them.
“Oh, How are you Nicolas? I was so worried about you.” His wife, Greta hugged him.
“I am fine. Look, who's here.” Nicolas smiled, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.
“Hello.” I greeted her politely.
“That’s Tyler, Candice’s husband.”
“Hello, nice to meet you.” She greeted me.
“Pleasure is all mine.”
“Candice! Look who came to meet you.” Candice came holding a two year old kid.
Her face lit up in happiness when she saw Nicolas. I lowered my gaze, not saying anything, nervous. She hugged Nicolas.
“Oh Nicolas. I was so worried about you, how are you? I.. I thought I lost you.” Candice whispered, holding him tightly.
“I am fine. He saved me.”
Nicolas whispered and I was taken aback by his words. Candice pulled away and looked at me with a glint of fright.
We stared at each other, not saying anything. Unwillingly I gave her the look of ‘how dare you’ and while she looked away.
“Candice, why did you leave? And you didn’t even tell me that I am becoming an Uncle.” Nicolas said, breaking the intensity which was building between us.
“Really?!” Greta asked excitedly, hugging and congratulating us. Candice smiled faintly and nodded.
“I guess you two should talk to each other alone.” Nicolas suggested, scanning us.
“Yes.” I said.
“No.” Candice refused. I narrowed my eyes at her.
“Don’t you think our talk was left hanging?”
“No, it ended.” She replied, closing arms at her chest.
“Candice, you should go and talk to him.” Nicolas insisted. She sighed and agreed, motioning me to come after her.
I came after her, she took me to a room and closed the door behind her.
When we entered I asked her in a low tone so my voice won’t go out, trying to keep my cool as well.
