CHAPTER 115
ALPHA LINCOLN'S POV
As I watched Sean arrive on a horseback, accompanied by our common enemy and the man who kidnapped my mate, I was in shock and disbelief, but my face did not give that away, I kept it stern and cold.
I watched as they approached, the tension in the air, increasing and palpable. My expression hardened as I assessed the situation, mind racing with questions and suspicions, wondering what could have promoted my best friend to align with our enemy against me.
I felt my sister's presence beside me and could hear her when she muttered, "How could he?", in disbelief. The pain in her voice, visible.
As they drew nearer, I still kept my emotions at bay, but one could tell how furious I was, but nevertheless I did not falter. My fist clenched though and my jaw was prepared to confront him.
"How could you ride in here with them?", I asked Sean coldly as they finally came to a stop, "We have always fought side by side, shared victories and hardships. What has made you turn your back on our bond?", I said, searching his face.
Sean came down and met my gaze, a flicker of defiance in his eyes, "I am tired of living in your shadow Lincoln," he confessed as I also noticed his voice which was tinged with bitterness.
"When have you ever been in my shadow Sean?", I asked him because when? He was a Beta, a strong warrior and even known, maybe not as much as me or calling the shots like me but still, he was known as the Beta to the strongest Alpha, which makes him the strongest Beta which he is.
So what is all this talk about shadow this, shadow that?
"You would not understand," he said, "You have never had to be in anyone's Shadow and I want to be more than what I am, I intend to have a power of my own. I was offered a chance to rise above, I chance I knew you would never give me, and I took it."
The worst part was he never came to me with his problems. I never noticed this, and I made sure his name was heard also.
If he wanted to start a pack or power of his own, why did he not just say so? I really do not understand this behavior of his.
Deep down, I knew my heart was heavy with this, the anger. I kept clenching and unclenching my fist, keeping quiet for a long time before I finally said something.
"Is this really what you want?," I asked as my heart sank. I would have never imagined Sean to betray me, he had no idea how much I trusted him.
Someone who I took as the brother I never had. Funny world, it's always the ones we never expect.
I watched Sean's facial expression soften, a slight hint of regret, but he did a good job covering it up immediately even though I caught it, not allowing it to make him weak on his decision as he answered, "Blood for blood."
He had chosen his path.
"I am glad we are all in the same understanding", Luke, came out from behind Sean in his chariot.
"Lincoln", I heard a very familiar voice call out to me.
Immediately I spotted Montana, but as I took a step forward, I was met with an arrow in front of me, in the ground.
"It would be best, if you do not take another step," Luke said to me.
I could not take my eyes off Montana, I used my eyes to ask if she was okay and she nodded, understanding me.
She clearly cannot escape, or she would have done that a while ago. I wondered what I was missing.
"He can control my powers Lincoln", Montana screamed out at her detriment, "He found a way to control it."
On her making that information known, she received a slap on her face, with Luke telling her to shut up.
The nerve of his. I growled, my warriors knew what to do, and I am sure they were already in their places.
If Luke found a way to control Montana's powers even against her will, then that might be a serious problem on our behalf.
I immediately severed the pack Link with Luke and then alerted all pack members and warriors.
Pack members and children were to be evacuated and also informed all those fighting with me on the new thing we have learned.
"I have back up coming", Aunt Calista said to me as she came and stood by me, whispering the words in my eyes.
I nodded in understanding, getting ready for war.
"We only have to hold them off for as long as we can. With Montana's powers, they are more powerful."
I fully understood what Aunt Calista meant, "Then we will fight for as long as it takes us."
"WARRIORS!"My voice echoed through the whole pack and woods as my warriors came out, a much larger number than Luke's warriors but Luke's warriors were also large but with Montana, it was like they had doubled.
My warriors came out, and I urged them on, "The Goddess is with us, Fight for what you love."
They cheered on and then I shouted, "SHIELD!!!!"
Luke also had his men ready. The smirk he had on his face, it would be a pleasure wiping it off.
My warriors shielded. I let them know that their Queen will be forced to use her powers on them as it would be controlled by Luke. So she was not to be harmed, but to be reduced.
"Prepare for attack," I ordered after giving them all the suitable information, our formation already intact and discussed, "Keep your foot strong, I believe in all of you."
MONTANA'S POV
Luke prepared himself as he also ordered his warriors to shield with their long spear out for attack.
"You better do what I say," He said to me, "You know the extreme pain you will feel if you try to fight it off, which is to tell you that you cannot resist the control I have over you."
"You will die by my hands", I promised Luke.
Luke laughed mockingly and uttered, "Today is not that day."
