CHAPTER 131
AUTHOR'S POV
Zendaya whispered to herself, her heart already fluttering with excitement, "Mate", drawing nearer, she could not help put admire him, right in front of her although, she did not expect him to be…, "You are human?"
She asked, her voice soft with surprise and shock.
The boy turned and met Zendaya's haze with a warm smile, his eyes sparkled with intrigued, curiosity and also confusion as to why she would ask that, obviously he is human, "Yes, I am?", they replied, their voice sending a shiver down Zendaya's spine.
Zendaya nodded quickly, wanting to cover up, she had no idea she had said her thoughts out loud, "of course you are", she laughed nervously, looked around as she did and then cleared her throat.
The bustling market faded into the background as their gazes locked. A soft spark, igniting between them.
"Hi", the human said, their choice soft but filled with warmth, when he noticed how nervous Zendaya look, he just felt she was a bit shy or something, but anyway, "I am Alexander, nice to meet you," he said to her, smiling.
Zendaya felt her breath catch in her throat as she returned the greeting, "Zendaya," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Only his voice alone was something else.
She could not even tear her gaze away from Alexander, feeling such a pull that drew her closer to him with each passing moment.
She had no idea if he felt it too but she sure as hell did and was so difficult to resist, although she remembered she had to be in control, "He is human, it won't be the same if he was a werewolf just like me", Zendaya reminded herself, plus she also had to be careful.
"But how could this be? No one told me about being mated to a human. How is that even possible that a werewolf can be mated to a human", thoughts ran through her head, "How should I deal with this now? He must be clueless, I can't just walk up to him and say, hi, you are my mate…aishh", she groaned inwardly, letting out a small smile at Alexander.
"You have a lovely name", Zendaya complimented, smiling even more as Alexander thanked her, complimented her, and they just smiled at each other.
As for Alexander, the girl standing in front of him was just so stunning and there was just something about her that got him hooked, her smile, the way she talked, how nervous she could get, it was all so cute.
"So, umm, what brings you to the market today?", Zendaya asked, breaking Alexander out of his thoughts and wanting to clear the somewhat tensed air.
"Just getting some things, food stuffs etc.", Alexander said as he raised a bag for her to see, "What about you?"
"Same", Zendaya nodded and turned back before, turning back towards Alexander, "I am actually here with my mum, getting a few things too. It's actually nice to get out a bit."
"Agreed, hope your mum's not looking for you though?", Alexander said, "Since you guys separated in the market."
"She's fine," Zendaya said softly, "plus she can reach me, whenever, I have my phone and other stuff."
"What other stuffs?", Alexander asked out of curiosity.
"Well there is a mind-", shoot, Zendaya slapped herself mentally, she had almost told her about the mind link, "nothing nothing, never mind, she can whistle, and I would know it's her, we have our ways", Zendaya covered up again, laughing nervously.
Wheeew, that was so close.
"That's really nice," Alexander said and before they both knew it, they started walking together, just taking a stroll and checking something's out in the market like fruits, food stuffs etc.
"What about you? You here alone or you have got company?", Zendaya asked him.
"I'm here alone," Alexander said to her as he excused himself for a bit, got some few stuff from their next stop and continued the conversation when he was done, "So where do you live? Is it far from here?”
"Mmm I suppose it can be," Zendaya answered while praying in her mind, that he doesn't ask anything related to that because she would rather not start lying to him, "How about you?", she quickly asked him.
As they conversed, Zendaya found herself hanging on Alexander's every word. Their little banter flowed effortlessly, it was not force, just smooth and nice.
They both laughed at their jokes, Zendaya's heart fluttering with this new-found excitement and joy.
But something weird was happening while in his presence, she felt a sense of vulnerability she had never experienced before, although she quickly locked up, he may be her mate, but he was still human, and she had to be careful until she was sure about where these will lead them.
Even though she felt like she could be vulnerable to him, she knew she had just met him and should not rush off like that.
So she toned it down a notch. Let's get to know him more first and see where this leads us.
Alexander's features were captivating, from the way he smiled warmly at her, to the kindness she saw in his eyes, whenever she looked into them, Zendaya could not help but be drawn to them, captivated by their presence.
She knew she had met someone special. But will it hold?
"Young lady, where are you?", Zendaya quickly received a message from her mother through the mind link.
Immediately she got the message, she turned to Alexander, "It was so nice meeting you, but I have to go now before my mum gets worried."
"Of course," Alexander agreed, although he wanted to spend more time with her. She was also really nice, "You are sweet yourself, and I am glad I met you today."
Zendaya blushed, "Thank you Alexander, that means a lot to me. I am glad we met, too."
"Maybe we can meet again sometime soon?", Alexander asked her.
"I had like that," Zendaya said and before Alexander could respond, she was gone.
He turned around, searching for her, but she was nowhere in sight, although the last thing he heard her say before she disappeared was,
"I will find you!"
