Chapter Culprit

Jaxon growled in anger and jealousy. He couldn't stop himself from attacking Uriel but he stopped when Veronica hugged him from his waist.

He closed his eyes. He was panting when he touched Veronica's hands, and he couldn't stop himself from exposing what he might be thinking. He was afraid that Uriel might snatch Veronica away from him. He couldn't understand where was the fear coming from.

“Jaxon, calm down. He's your Beta. He's working for you for a long years.” Veronica repeated her words and pulled him away from Uriel. Jaxon glared at Uriel. He was sure that Uriel was one of his enemies. However, why did Veronica say that Uriel was one of his allies?

“Uriel, I'm sorry if Jaxon has been acting like this. While you are away, he got stabbed by an arrow. There's a poison on it, that led him to forget everything.” Veronica forced herself to smile but she failed. She didn't like how Jaxon had acted toward Uriel.

Uriel was shocked. He was flabbergasted when he glanced at Jaxon. He bit his lips before he said, “I didn't know that there was something bad happening to him. He asks to have a rest that's why I'm not in the pack. I only want to make sure that my rest will be worth it. I've been working here for several years and having a rest day is such a great blessing for me.”

“It's not your fault, Uriel. Jaxon didn't even know that he would be stabbed by that arrow. I'm sorry if he acted that way, I will talk to him.” Veronica didn't wait for Uriel to reply. She dragged Jaxon away from Uriel, and they secretly went into their room. She smacked Jaxon's shoulder and angrily yelled in frustration.

“Ouch, why are you hurting me? Did I do wrong against you? Are you mad---“

“He's your Beta. Don't hurt him. I need him for my plans!”

Jaxon was heartbroken. He hardly breathed before he hugged Veronica tightly. He thought that he would be crazy because of Veronica.

“Are you having an affair with him? You two are closed!” he exclaimed with so much frustration. He gasped before he tightened his grip on her. “You are my mate, why are you hugging someone without informing me? Do you want me to kill someone?”

”Stop overreacting. I will be back to my pack if you don't stop doing this.” Veronica warned that made him shut his mouth. He pouted but he didn't say anything. He disliked that Veronica had been blackmailing him. There was a part of him, who wanted to punish her in his bed until she couldn't walk anymore.

He cleared his throat. Thinking about the punishment made him feel that it was so hot. He gritted his teeth and kept blaming himself for acting like a maniac.

How he could stop himself if Veronica looked so sexy and ready in front of him? He couldn't stop himself from cupping her butt which led Veronica to moan, and angrily slapped his hand.

“Jaxon, I can't believe that you are acting like a maniac right now. Just don't do something stupid because I need to make sure that Uriel isn't our enemy!”

“Is there something special to him? I can't understand why I needed to do this with him!” Jaxon exclaimed. It wasn't fine with him but it seemed he didn't have a choice but to agree.

“He's your Beta. He knows everything, and I'm sure he's only hiding it. I want to know what happened with our son, Morgan.” Veronica whispered which made Jaxon widen his eyes. He couldn't believe that he didn't even know that they both had a son, or maybe Veronica mentioned it but he was too preoccupied.

”Son? You didn't tell me..."

“It seems you easily forget everything. I inform you about Morgan.” Veronica uttered back.

“When do we lose him? I'm sure he's handsome like me!”

Veronica didn't answer what Jaxon had been asking. She didn't know what she would say to his question especially since Jaxon couldn't remember everything. She already knew what it felt like when she had a lot of questions in her mind.

She said everything to Jaxon, and she didn't even dare to hide some information because they both wanted to find Morgan whatever might cause.

“Uriel...” She called Uriel when she successfully had an agreement with Jaxon that she wouldn't do something to make him jealous.

Uriel glanced in her direction while there was a lot of paper in his hands. He put those papers before he rushed towards Veronica.

“Did you already investigate what happened to Jaxon? I'm sorry if he acts like that. He's confused.”

Uriel chuckled. He shook his head before he replied, ”I'm used to that he'd been always jealous of me whenever I'm near you. I already have investigated it but I still didn't find the lead. What I'm thinking is someone is mad at him. It seems whoever almost killed you, is the same one who stabbed Alpha Jaxon, too.”

Veronica nodded. She was thinking the same thing but she still couldn't find the culprit.

“I'm still thinking if it's the Alpha King. Alpha Jaxon already has the power with a majority, and he's doing it to prevent him from stealing the throne,” he added.

“I don't understand. Why he's mad at Jaxon? I still remember that he wants Jaxon to be part of his family.”

”He wants him because of his power. He had a lot of allies, and the alpha King is scared that they might help each other to make her step down."

“Veronica, he's the greatest stumble on his reign. It won't change the fact that despite that he's the Alpha King, he's still the second most powerful Alpha in the world.”
