Veronica looked at Ava, who was standing beside her. She held the tip of the arrow and made sure that she would hit the center. She firmed her hands and hit the center so fast. She jumped so happily that she almost hugged Ava, who was frowning at her.
“You seem happy for a single arrow despite that you use twenty arrows, seriously, Veronica?” Ava commented, making her stop from jumping happily. She pursed her lips and flipped her hair. When she came back in their pack, Ava seemed so preoccupied that she decided to practice using the arrow.
She knew that Ava had been thinking something in her head. She didn't like to tell her because she disliked that she would get stressed about something else.
“It's not my fault that I don't know how to use these,” She pointed out the bow from Ava's hands. She arched her brow and noticed a dark part of Ava's eyes. “Are you okay? Do you want me to go back in our pack? Jaxon will understand if I decide to go back here.”
”Of course, he is. Did you forget that you were only back in his pack because of his situation? Perhaps, you forget that you will go back in our pack because you are finally okay with him.”
She was stunned when Ava finally hit her point. She lowered her head and felt bad for herself. She felt that she was such a useless and weak woman. She easily forgave Jaxon after she realized that Jaxon had the reason for everything.
“Veronica, you are my sister. I love you, and I appreciate how kind you are. However, are you sure that you will easily forgive him? It's better if you will make him learn his lesson. Do something that he will end up learning that you are important in his life. You are the one that he needs.”
She nodded. She understood what Ava had been trying to tell her. She bit her lips to prevent herself from excusing herself but she knew that Ava was only saying what she might see to her.
Ava was such an observer. She might be silent whenever she was doing for herself but Ava always observed her surroundings.
“Jaxon is your mate, I know. The mate bond can make you easily forgive him. I want you to be with someone that you can trust wholeheartedly. I only want you to make sure that Jaxon already knows how to treat you with respect not only in bed.” Ava added before she shot the arrow in the center. She used two arrows and made sure that she would always hit the center. She seemed irritated that she only used the arrows to outburst her annoyance.
“I understand what you are trying to say, Ava. What about you and James? I don't see him here.” Veronica turned around and tried to see if James might be hiding.
“He's not living here. Veronica, did you forget that he's an Alpha in his pack?”
She frowned when she noticed how Ava was being sarcastic. She didn't know what she would say because it seemed Ava disliked talking with her especially when it came to James.
“Hey! I'm your sister, and you're talking to me in that way?” She couldn't stop herself from pointing out made Ava try to calm herself down. She crossed her hands and raised her brow at her. “Did you two fight? I don't see any reason why you're acting this way. Alpha James might be the reason why you're acting indifferently.”
“He will not be back here. He's getting married, and so I am.”
Veronica's mouth parted when she heard what Ava had been telling her. She waited for her to say that she was only joking but Ava didn't say those words that she wanted to hear.
“I hate him. I don't want to see him ever again.” Ava added and took a three arrow. She imagined that it was James' head to make sure that she would always hit the target. Her blood was boiling in enrage because of James.
“Are you sure that he's getting married? What I know is James dislikes to settle down with someone. He's scared to be weak because of the mate bond.”
“Yeah, I'm sure. We will reject each other in the end. The truth is we only try if everything will work.”
“Shut up, Ava. Did you even think that I didn't know that you fell for him? You are my sister, and I know it.”
Ava gritted her teeth. She fired an arrow again and again until she felt how her hands turned numb. They both went back to the pack house and decided to plan what they would do with Veron.
“I feel bad that I'm doing this. Veron is the one who helps me.” She uttered while she was looking at Ava, who had been reading a book.
“We will find out why Veron does that to you. He's desperate but I don't see that he's too obsessed with you.” Ava finally let out what she might observed. The reason why he didn't like Veron for Veronica was the emotions in his eyes. She was sure that he cared for her sister but love? Veron didn't love Veronica so he would sacrifice his life for him. He was only acting and that was the thing that they both didn't know.
“If I don't know that he's the son of the Alpha King, I might think that someone is only commanding him to do those things for you. He cares for you, as your friend but as a lover, I don't think so. If I'm wrong, he might have feelings but it's not as deep as we think. He's only desperate.” Ava tapped the table and tried to think why Veron had been acting like he was madly in love with Veronica.
While Veronica on the other hand was scowling while she was staring at Ava weirdly. She was thinking about why Veron did those things. She gasped, “It's only the Alpha King who can threaten him. Helene is put by the Alpha King as the temptation for Jaxon to break our mate bond. Are you telling me that Veron is put beside me for the same reason?”
