Jaxon kept looking at the clock. It was past midnight, but Veronica wasn't still in his pack. He sighed as he tried to hide his anxiousness. He couldn't understand what he felt. It seemed there was something terrible that might have happened to Veronica.
“Alpha, what are you doing? You still not sleepy?” Uriel asked in a sleepy tone. He yawned while he was looking at him. His eyes were full of curiosity. Uriel came closer to him, staring at the clock he had been staring at. “Is there something wrong with our clock? I think it's working.” He commented.
He scowled when he heard what Uriel had said to him. Of course, it was working! He knew how to read a clock because he wasn't stupid. Irritation was more evident in his face. He disliked what Uriel had told him.
“I know it's working. I'm only thinking of Veronica. It's past midnight, and she's still not yet home.” He tried his best to hide the annoyance from his tone. He closed his eyes and massaged his nape. He realized Uriel was still sleepy. That's why he seemed to leave his common sense in his room.
“Oh, Veronica? What does she tell you? Have you already contacted Ava?” Uriel's sleepiness had already left him when Jaxon mentioned Veronica. He had never thought Veronica wasn't still not yet home. What made him more astounded was how Jaxon seemed worried that his mate wasn't still back in his pack. “Are you sure she will go back here? Aren't you scared that she might not be back here again?”
“Shut the fuck up. It's not funny.”
“I'm only asking. I don't even tell you to laugh at my jokes because I'm not kidding.”
“Shut up. I don't want to hear your nonsense words.”
“Alpha Jaxon, you used to be not so clingy when it's about your mate. It looks like you already changed after you lost your memories. A cold, brutal man gets worried because of his mate.” Uriel pursed his lips. He wanted to enjoy himself and witness how his Alpha acted that he didn't like Veronica. “Are you sure that you are in love with her? Or maybe it's your balls you like to be with her.”
“What?” Jaxon asked in disbelief. He couldn't understand why Uriel was trying to make fun of him. He looked out the window and stared at the dark surroundings. Why did he feel Veronica was only near to him?
“I still remember how horny you are when you are with her. You even rushed to the hospital that time, and I went to Veronica, to plead with him to visit you, but she witnessed how you scratch your balls while you're moaning her name!”
Jaxon was dumbfounded. He couldn't believe that what Uriel had said to him was true. He gritted his teeth. He thought that Uriel was only making of him, and it was impossible to happen.
“You are lying. I know you are lying!” Jaxon was full of accusations in his tone. His cheeks burned in humiliation. He hoped Uriel would stop putting him to shame. He stepped back when he saw a shadow running for their pack.
“Uriel, inform the guards. I see someone entering our pack.” He ordered. He was watching how his guards came and stopped the shadow. He and Uriel looked at each other before they decided to go where their guards were.
“Alpha!” One of his guards called him. His heart thumped so fast when he noticed that the guards were from Ava's pack. He was sure of it. “This man tells us someone took Veronica. He didn't know who it is because he collapsed on the floor, and lost consciousness.”
“What do you say?” Jaxon gritted his teeth. He didn't like what he had heart. When he glanced at the man, he noticed that the man was bleeding. “Do you remember who it is? What about Ava? Do you have to inform her already?”
“I went straight here because we were near to your pack when we got abducted.” the main answered while wincing in pain. He moaned loudly while one of the guards checked his wounds.
“Alpha, we need to bring him to the pack hospital. It seems whoever kidnapped Veronica didn’t want you to know she’s gone. We’re lucky he came straight here to inform us.”
“Alpha Jaxon, he is right. Aside from that, we need to inform Ava about what happened to them. It might be the Alpha King who took Veronica away from you. He might discover she finally come back here. You know how he doesn’t like someone who wants to take you away from his plan.” It was Uriel who mentioned it. Jaxon gritted his teeth, and thinking that it might be the Alpha King who did those things made him outraged. What would he do next? He didn’t know where Veronica was. He needed to find a way to find her as soon as possible.
“Inform Ava about what happened. Tell her I want her to go here.” He ordered. Uriel was the one who assigned who would go to Ava’s pack. He seemed worried but he tried his best not to show it because emotions would be his great weakness.
Jaxon was silent when his guards moved to try to find the lead. It might be still dark but he was thankful that his troops were trained to search in the dark. He wouldn’t be a brutal and successful Alpha for nothing.
“Alpha, do you think it’s the Alpha King or Veron? I think there’s something wrong that might happened with Helene, that’s why he decided to start doing his plan.”
“If it’s Veron, I don’t think I will be worried about my mate. I know he won’t hurt her physically.” Jaxon swallowed as he uttered those words. He didn’t trust Veron but he trusted his mate.
“He’s the one who put a potion in Veronica’s glass. Are you sure that you can trust someone like him?”
He didn’t bother to talk because they both decided to help the troops find Veronica. It took an hour when Ava came to his pack, and she was with James. She seemed worried and gave Jaxon a hard punch in his stomach that made Uriel widen his eyes in surprise.
“Alpha Jaxon, what happened to my sister?” Ava angrily asked.
