She slowly opened her eyes and noticed unfamiliar surroundings. She massaged her nape, trying to ease the pain she had felt. She groaned when she thought that she slept for so long.
Where was she? What she remembered was she was about to come back to Jaxon's home, but she ended up getting attacked by Veron. She was sure it was Veron. She knew him, and seeing how he creepily stared at her before she lost consciousness made her feel creepy.
Veron was such a nice man in her eyes. He might end up doing something terrible to her, but she was sure he had his reason. She tried to crawl from the bed, but she couldn't move properly.
She didn't know why she couldn't move her feet or even her hands. Did the poison was still effective in her body?
“J-Jaxon,” she whispered his name. She swallowed hard as she remembered what Veron kept talking while she was in the middle of sleep. She looked around and saw that the door was opened. She was sure she was in Veron's pack, and he was trying to hide her.
“You are finally awake. It's been two days since you were asleep. Veronica, you are such a fighter. You aren't a cat, but you have nine lives.” Veron uttered. She tried her best to hide the fear that she felt. Veron seemed different than his usual vibes. What she was witnessing was the other side of him. Veron was looking at her using his sharp gaze, he smirked at her while he was walking closer to her. “Veronica, you are my friend, too, right? I don’t understand why you are always choosing Jaxon over me. Why is he the only favorite? What about me? I have feelings, too. I’m good with anything, too, why is he the only one who will get chosen by someone?”
Veronica’s mouth parted when she noticed something wrong with how Veron talked to her. His tone changed even more, and the approachable vibe of him faded instantly. It seemed she didn’t even know Veron at all.
Seeing how madly jealous of him when it comes to Jaxon made her heart broken. She felt bad for him, she knew Veron always did her best but it was only Jaxon who always got praised by many, aside from that he was the one who always compared to him.
“V-Veron…” she uttered her name. She gulped, and let the guilt invade her emotions. She might be one of them, and she forgot Veron had feelings. She licked her lips, trying to hide how sour her expression was. “I’m sorry, I know I did something wrong with you.”
“You don’t need to feel sorry for me because I was the one who didn’t do my best to make my father proud of me. Veronica, I kidnapped you, and I’m sure Jaxon might killed me. I hate him so much, and I wish that we were both born at a different time. He always took everything from me.” Veron whispered. His tears were falling from his eyes even though he tried his best to hide it. She was stunned. She didn’t know what she was going to do. She couldn’t still walk or even move her arms.
“Veron, why are you telling me that? You are more different than Jaxon. You both have a difference in weakness and strength in fighting. Your strength is his weakness and your weakness is his strength. Whoever tells you that wants you to get mad at him.”
“I know. I’m crazy I hated him so much especially when he didn’t want Helene anymore. Oy’s his fault why my sister has been experiencing those things from my father.”
“What do you mean? I can’t understand.”
“I’m the one who found her, I promise I will do anything to protect her but I can’t. My father is desperate to get Jaxon’s attention so he used Helene as bait. However, Helene isn’t successful even though they think you are dead. He suffered so much at my father’s hands especially when my father believed that it was her only used to be fucked by others for his gain. I don’t want to see her suffer, that’s why I do this.”
“We can talk to Jaxon, you don’t need to do this. Veron, did you even think what would happen to your sister once you got caught? She will hate you that you committed these things for her sake. She needs you, and she wants to be always with you.”
Veron shook his head. He didn't believe to what Veronica had been saying. His tears continued flowing, and his pain lingered in his heart. He hoped one day he would finally had a reason to live normally.
“I don't think she wants me to be always with her. I'm the reason why she's experiencing this shit. It's because I can't do anything to protect her. My father is right about how stupid I was.” His tone was hoarse. He seemed exhausted from his daily life.
If Veron could chose, he would like to be the pups of an ordinary werewolf than to be the son of the Alpha King. He was only using them for his gain.
He went closer to Veronica before he gave her an embraced. Veronica seemed surprised but she didn't do anything.
“Veronica, I'm sorry. I want to explain everything to you, but I don't want my sister to think that I'm gossiping about her hellish life in my father's pack. I have one request for you. I want you to act as my woman so my father would stop torturing Helene.”
Her lips parted. She couldn't believe that Veron would ask her to do it. Why would she do that? She knew Jaxon would be mad at her once she let Veron use her as his girlfriend.
