“I'm not. I'm exhausted.” Veronica replied. She saw him frown at her before he continued his meal. Albert seemed surprised to think that Veronica might be pregnant again.
“Have you slept with Veron before?” Albert couldn't stop himself from asking. He was curious how Veronica got pregnant.
Veronica acted shy when she heard Albert's question. She lowered her head and scratched her nape before she answered, “Your question is too personal. I don't think I need to answer that.”
Albert looked away. He was taken aback when Veronica answered it. She was correct that his question was personal. However, he only wanted to know because the Alpha King reminded him to report everything about Veronica.
“I'm sorry if I ask that question. I don't want to offend you.”
“Is it normal to sleep with him? We are both adults.”

“It’s fine, Alpha.” Albert didn’t let him finish what he was going to say. He finally believed that they had a relationship. “It might be disgusting for me, but having an intimate moment with your soon-to-be wife is normal. Don’t hurt her feelings.”

“Albert, you finally see your mate. What makes you die in jealousy? You can go to her and be with her.” Veron tried his best not to stammer when he spoke those words. He stopped holding her hand. His cheeks were pinkish, and he thought Veronica was making him fall harder. She was such a good actress.
“I can’t. I still have a lot of work that I need to do. Aside from that, we have a meeting for our upcoming plans. I heard Alpha Jaxon is trying to fight with us. He is secretly stealing our allies.” Albert answered and gave Veronica an apologetic look when he mentioned Jaxon. But he didn't see Veronica was affected by it anymore because she was so focused on Veron.
“I don’t know about it.” Veron only replied. He groaned when Veronica pinched his nipple. He couldn’t believe Veronica could easily do that with him. She acted as if she didn’t hear what Albert had whispered. When she stared at Veron, she noticed how sad he was because he might be thinking that she was only telling him the truth.
What she had found out was Veron was close to his Beta because they grew up with each other. Albert was his best friend. He trusts him so much like they were in the same blood.
“Oh! I don’t think he likes Helene. I know Alpha Jaxon, he likes to fight with my Alpha. He doesn’t like to lose over Alpha Veron, and I’m sure he will do anything to make you back. Veronica, don’t get back on him. He is the type of man who is egotistical and always want to be on top.” Albert didn’t mind badmouthed Jaxon especially when Veronica already mentioned she already rejected someone like Alpha Jaxon.
“The truth is I hate him so much. He's too full of himself when we are studying because he's the future Alpha of their pack. He's stupid to think about running away with Helene that led him to lose his family.”
Veronica felt the pinch of saltiness in her heart. She couldn't believe she would hear those words coming to Veron's Beta. She wasn't heartless and made her feel bad for Jaxon.
“What do you mean? I don't understand. ” she only said.
“He's the reason why his parents died. They got burned alive with their pack members. He's too stupid. Some of the packs felt bad for him but I didn't. He's a bully when we are studying. ” Albert continued what he was saying. He didn't notice how Veronica gave him a murderous look.
“Albert, I don't think it's a good idea you'll bring up what happened to his parents. They don't deserve to die in a horrible way. ” Veron finally had the courage to talk when Albert didn't have any plans to stop talking.
“Why would I? I'm only stating the fact, Alpha. I wish he's one of those who died there. Those innocent members died because of his foolishness. ”
Veronica was questionable. She didn't know if Albert had a resentment towards Jaxon.
“Do you even know how those innocent members begged their assassins not to kill them? They have their families who are waiting for them. That's the reason why Jaxon does everything to get on top. He believed it was your father's doing. Since Helene isn't acceptable when she's with his pack, and his parents didn't like her to be with him. ”
Veronica gasped. She glimpsed at Veron, who seemed to be shocked about what Albert had said to them. He closed his eyes, and tried his best to stop his emotion.
Veron didn't know why Albert knew everything. That information was only for his father, and him.
“Albert, stop telling us about it. We are in a good mood but you're trying to ruin it.” His tone became harsh. He still thought Jaxon's family didn't deserve to die in that way.
“I'm sorry Alpha, I can't stop myself from getting mad at him. I didn't like him from the very start.”
Veronica acted like she didn't mind if Albert hated Jaxon so much but deep inside of her mind, she was curious where Albert always took out his resentment towards Jaxon.
She had been thinking that Albert might be a deep reason why he hated Jaxon so much. She was sure it wasn't because of Veron. What ensured her was Albert's fury was disturbing.
