Jaxon acted as if he was astonished when he saw the messenger and slowly pushed Helene away, making Helene act like he was sad. She pursed her lips and was about to kiss Jaxon when the messenger cleared his throat.
“Princess Helene,” he called.
Helene slowly turned around and stared at him curiously when she said, “Yes, what can I do for you?”
“Alpha Veron sent me to fetch you. He’s inviting you for dinner with our future Luna.”
Jaxon maintained the calmness on his face even though he wanted to react that the Luna was his. Veronica was his mate, and they never rejected each other like Veronica always said to the Alpha King.
Helene nodded before she asked, “How do you know that I’m here?”
“The Alpha King tells me you are not in his pack.”
Helene didn’t say anything but was sure the Alpha King wouldn’t know where he was because he was in the meeting. Perhaps Uriel’s father told him she wasn’t in her father’s pack.
“Oh! It’s embarrassing that you see me being—” she couldn’t finish her words in humiliation. Her cheeks burned, and she tried to cover her face using her hands.
“It’s fine, Princess Helene. I will wait for you…”
Jaxon stared at the man who didn’t bother to check on him. He saw the man in another place except in Veron’s pack. The pack house was filled with trees, and thinking that the man quickly came to their pack house made him believe there was another reason.

Veronica was silent. She couldn't believe that Jaxon came with Helene. She couldn’t understand how Helene stayed in Jaxon’s pack. She watched them getting sweet with each other, which made her heart clenched in jealousy. She forced her lips to form a smile when she noticed Albert checking her reaction.
“Honey, are you done?” She inquired and went to Veron, who was finishing their meal. Veron didn’t know what he was going to say, especially when he only called Helene so he could ask her about Morgan.
“Yes, honey. Do you want to taste it?”
“Wait…” she paused before she uttered, “You are a good cook! I can’t believe it!”
It was the first time he knew someone who knew how to cook besides Uriel. Veron was an Alpha, and it was surprising to see an Alpha knew how to do the house chores. Veronica wasn’t acting, and she was so amazed that she forgot that Jaxon was with them. She helped Veron to prepare the other ingredients, and they seemed to have their world. They didn’t notice that there were a lot of eyes were watching them.
“I don’t know that my brother can cook,” Helene whispered, looking at the dishes. Veron massaged his nape before he glanced at Veronica, who was preparing the plates.
Jaxon was glaring at Veronica, who didn’t bother to look at him. He clenched his jaw in anger before he angrily stared at the dishes that Veron had cooked for them.
He was madly jealous. He could learn how to cook. He needed to wait the time because he was only studying how to make the ice cream that Veronica had always given to her. He tightened his grip on the utensil. He couldn’t chew his meal or taste it because his heart was full of bitterness.
“Why is this a sudden invitation? I don’t know why you asked me to go here?” It was Helene who broke the silence. She couldn’t breathe properly because of the ambiance while nobody was talking. Veronica chuckled before she used the napkin to wipe the sauce from the corner of her mouth.
“Well, your brother wants to make sure we are fine. He’s worried.” Veronica laughed, which made Veron glare at her.
Helene was dumbfounded. She couldn’t understand why Veronica was acting, but when she remembered the hidden rats in her brother’s pack, she realized it was part of the acting.
“Veron, you don’t need to worry about me. It’s only part of the past.” She muttered while she was tasting the wine. Veron was looking at Beta James and the messenger he had sent to get Helene.
He faked his cough. “Albert, is it okay if you two will leave the house first? This is a family matter since my sister will soon marry Alpha Jaxon, too.”
Veronica gave Albert an apologetic look before she held Veron’s hand, which made them see how intimate they were, “Honey, I think it’s fine. We can ask them to eat with us. For me, they are still part of the family.”
“Veronica…” Veron spoke her name.
Albert swallowed. He realized he didn’t need to stay in the pack house because he was sure Veron was telling him the truth. He observed how Veronica acted, and he was convinced that Veronica was being genuine to his Alpha, so he was sure it wasn’t acting.
“Let’s go, Andrew. I don’t think they need us here.” Albert decided to leave them. He disliked disturbing their family meeting. Andrew quickly left the pack house without giving them another glance. Albert followed them, and he didn’t notice how Veron’s expression changed.
While Andrew was walking outside the pack house, he stopped him to ask, “Where do you see, Princess Helene? Why did Jaxon decide to come with her?” Albert was only trying to get some pieces of information.
“I saw her in Alpha Jaxon’s pack. I even caught them being intimate. He’s carrying Helene as if she is his princess. They are kissing.”
“Are you sure about it?” He was trying to make sure that Andrew saw everything correctly.
“Yes, I’m embarrassed at that time because Jaxon dislikes that I disturb them from their making out.”
Albert nodded. The Alpha King told him that he should report some suspicious events that happened to Veronica and Veron. However, he didn’t think there was another reason why Helene and Jaxon were there.
“I can’t believe Alpha Veron finally found someone who will be our Luna. I think she's a great catch!” Andrew commented when they continued leaving the pack house.
