Melissa's POV
A look of surprise rested on Conri's face at the sight of me. Gently, I watched the surprise expression change into jealousy, a look I was surprised to see. His gaze left my face and rested on my hand wrapped around Nelson.
Tinox on his part looked very surprised and pleased to see me and Nelson so close to each other with smiles on our faces.
There was a large dining hall already arranged in the hall, on the table were placed food and drinks of different kinds and seated on each seat were men and women who I have never come across to. There were more than fifty if I wasn't mistaken and knowing that Nelson didn't inform me who they really are in their packs, I couldn't help but admit that maybe the whole members in different packs were present due to the population.
Together with Nelson, we walked towards the end of the table, Nelson stood in front of his seat and I stood next to him. I glanced at my side only to find Conri who flashed me a warm smile.
"Thank you all for accepting my invitation" Nelson began to speak as those who were seated had their eyes fixed on me but the majority of them couldn't stop stealing glances at me, an act which made me very uncomfortable.
"I Invited you here today because ever since the death of my father, certain works have been put on hold and restricted for a while. Your packs are the only ones who have been on good terms with mine ever since the days of our past Alphas. Not regarding the fact that the hunters packs doesn't want to come to the acceptance that my pack will always be head of packs. Their past Alphas wanted this, fought for it but still couldn't get it. Nothing but deep hatred grew in them, this hatred they couldn't stop passing from generation to generation until this day." He paused, a serious expression glued to his face.
"At a point, all my father wanted was for peace but instead of them giving him this and moving on. They attacked my mother and killed her deep in the woods…" he paused, a look of pain appeared in his eyes, "This angered my father greatly, he swore that peace would never reign between his pack and the hunters. All my father wanted was revenge for his wife's death, his true mate. You all seated here know how this went, how new laws were created and stopped royal female werewolves from the royal family from stomping their feet out of the pack. And I thank you all for your help towards me father. Without you all, the brutal war won't have been won by usm it was as a result of your good deed that we defeated the hunters but still, they are always searching for a way to get back at us, an act they won't achieve…" he paused as his voice echoed in the large hall.
"But, that isn't the reason I invited you all today…" Nelson turned to me, to my surprise, he rested his hand on my shoulder as I sat still wondering what's happening.
"I invited you all here to introduce my mate to you. It's quite a pity that I didn't do so the day we got married but I feel that it isn't too late to do so"
Surprised at Nelson's words, I gulped down watching the different faces that stared at me watching me closely.
"I heard that she is human, how true is this Alpha" a man in the crowd spoke out.
My heart leaped a bit hearing his question.
Nelson nodded, "Yes she is human. Do any one of you have a problem with that?" He asked, his eyes not leaving each face which stared at him.
"No Alpha. The truth is that we are still surprised you decided to go for a human when there are other female werewolves in your pack and in ours you can choose from" another man projected.
Immediately, I felt really uncomfortable.
I suddenly felt a touch on my lap, I turned around only to find Conri who gave me an assuring look, it must be clear to him how uncomfortable I felt.
I nodded with a soft smile.
"She is my mate, chosen by my father who only knows what's best for his son and that of his pack. Also, this was brought in by the moon goddess herself, is there any of us here as Alpha's who dares to disobey the instruction of the loom goddess?"" I heard Nelson ask to my surprise, I looked up and as our eyes met, he smiled at me warmly filling my heart with such a goddess that made me unsure if this is truly him speaking or someone else.
"No, of course Alpha. No one dares to go against the words of the moon goddess. She sees us through every decision we take. Alright we do understand and respect your decision" the man who asked the initial question replied.
"She is very beautiful I must say" a woman spoke out.
Surprised, I looked at her and the moment our eyes locked, great fear filled me and I felt my heart leap in fear.
Her green eyes glittered back at me, a weird smile on her face as she raised a brow.
"You" I muttered almost in a whisper but Conri who sat next to me was fast enough to grasp my word.
At that point, I recognized her as the woman who attacked me.
"Melissa, what's wrong?" Conri implored, looking concerned.
I glanced at him, returned my eyes to the woman but to my greatest shock, the face that stared right back at me was another completely different face.
The woman looked like a very young man and I must say maybe she is Luna herself. She smiled sweetly, making me more confused.
Am I hallucinating?
No way!
I am not!
I was sure enough that I saw the face of the woman who attacked me but right here is a completely different face making it look like I was already going crazy.
"Are you alright Melissa?" Conri whispered again, filled with concern this time.
I averted my look at him with a smile, "Yes" I nodded and took a sip of the wine next to me.
Nelson smiled, "Thanks for your compliment.." he held my hand and placed a soft kiss on it in front of everyone, "She is the most beautiful lady I have ever laid my eyes on and I must say that the moon goddess knew what she was doing when she made this"
Surprised, I couldn't believe that Nelson just kissed me. He still held untou hand after kissing me and it felt so good to be true.
I gazed up only to find Tinox starting at I and Nelson. He looked very proud and I noticed that he couldn't stop nodding in admiration.
"I also want to add that my coronation as Alpha will be set for soon and I want you all to be there" Nelson announced.
"Of course we will," the crowd responded with a happy look on their faces.
Soon, breakfast was served and we got to eat. Soon, the meeting came to an end and one after the other, the crowd began to evade the hall.
Soon, everyone left and only I, Nelson, Conri and Tinox remained.
"I have to leave now, the training will kick off soon" Conri announced, getting on his feet.
"Why don't you stay a little?" Nelson offered.
"I wish I can but you know how serious I take the training and I am sure that the men are waiting for me already"
"It's fine, you can leave, we will meet later this evening at my office" Nelson responded.
Not saying a word, with a bow, Conri walked out of the hall not wanting to look at me.
