"I see you finally managed to catch a big fish!" I'm not sure but I thought I heard Celine's voice behind me.
Nah, it couldn't be Celine. What will she be doing at the pack house at two in the morning? I wonder as I slowly turn around.
The happy smile I have on my face from the joy of discovering who my mate is slowly slips away when I see I'm not mistaken. It was indeed the hateful Celine's voice that I heard.
She's standing not far from her rickety car. How could I have missed the old thing? I wonder as I walk the few steps that separate us and stand in front of her with arms akimbo. I was so engrossed in the happy world that my mate and I created together that I didn't notice the hunk of metal where it was parked by the side of the road.
"Who was that? Your boyfriend or have you found your mate? He looked and smelled rich! How did you meet in such a short time?" She enquired rapidly with the trademark stupid smile that was exactly like her son's
"Who he is and how we met is none of your damn business, Celine! What are you doing here?" I snapped at her with irritation for showing up at the wrong time. Why did she choose to show up at a time when I would have loved to reminisce on the little time I spent with my mate
"Celine?" She repeats with surprise. I'm in turn surprised by her entitlement. Like how was she expecting me to address her after all that she and her family did to me? What was she expecting? That I would be able to go back to calling her mom despite all?...
"I'm your mother, how dare you address me as such! I raised you!"
"Mother!?" I repeat with a chuckle. "This must be the joke of the century! You're not my mother! You were never a mother to me to begin with so please cut the crap! Now, are you gonna tell me what you want? Otherwise, I'd be happy to walk out on you right now." I finish saying and immediately start walking away from her without giving her the chance to reply to me
"The Luna sent me!" She quickly says. I stop in my tracks and turn back to her with narrowed eyes.
"The Luna sent you to who?... Me?... Why would the Luna send you to me? And what for?"
"Well, she said you need someone to assist you until Martha returns from wherever she went to"
"Ohh..." I say with surprise since this is not my first time working alone. I worked all by myself throughout the period of Martha's injury and recovery. I never got any help then. I wonder why the Luna dimmed it to send me a helper now. What changed?
And I also wonder about Celine. I look at her and even though she appears normal, I can see she's not really at ease with herself. Something is definitely going on with her that I can't place my hands on. The Celine I know will do anything to get out of working under me, she will pretend to be sick, dying, anything than to agree to stoop low as to work under me
So why is she really here with me? To get me in more trouble or to kill me!? I can go with her getting me in trouble but kill me? I doubt that. For some reason I don't know, I know that Celine will rather see me suffer than die, unless of course if there's something she will gain from my death. Since I can't figure out her real purpose for coming to me, I decide to not let my guard down around her.
"As much as I would have loved to lord over you Celine, I hate seeing your face around me more, so please go back and tell the Luna I can manage perfectly or better still tell her to send another person that's not as revolting as you," I say and sweetly smile at her
For a moment, the fake mask she has on her face slips and I see her real hateful self. She couldn't bear the insults I threw at her. She tightly balls her fists and her wolf rises to the surface in anger. She wants to lash out and attack me but something holds her back. Something more important than kissing my ass.
And then the fake mask return and she smiles
"Well, truth be told I hate to see your face as much as you hate to see mine but what can we do?" She says with a shrug. "The Luna said to come to help you and here I am. If you don't like it then I suggest you give her a call"
Nice play Celine! Bitch said that to me because she knew I can't call the Luna. Firstly I don't have a phone, secondly, even if I have a phone I would still not call since it will seem as if I'm questioning the Luna's authority. She knew she got me and smile victoriously
Her smile sickens me
"Fine, it's past 2 am. The kitchen opens at six in the morning, see you then" I quickly tell her to spare myself the displeasure of looking at her any more than necessary. I open the wrought iron gate and enter.
"Okay, but what do I do until then?"
"Uhh, I don't know! What you do with your time isn't my business, Celine." I reply.
"No, I meant where am I going to sleep?" She ask since she knew the pack house rules that don't allow non-high ranking officials to stay overnight. She follow behind as I walk to the back of the building, beside the kitchen was the only room reserved for the maids in case of days like this when we needed to work overtime
I retrieve the key from where it was kept amidst Martha's small potted herbs garden, open the door, and step inside, immediately blocking the entrance to prevent her from coming in after me. The room is large and there are two beds in it but there's no way in hell I'm going to sleep with Celine watching over me, probably with the intention of murdering me in my sleep.
"Uhmmm, I don't know where you will sleep!" I say in reply to her question and shrug my shoulders.
"Oh wait! What about the broom closet under the stairs?" I ask and her eyes harden, looking like she wants to kill me.
I laugh with my satisfaction
"At least it's bigger than the one in your house," I say before slamming the door hard in her face, barely missing her nose. Revenge feels so good and I've not even started on my revenge yet

After Ash entered the maid's room, Celine went back to her car and sat inside. Then she brought out her phone from her purse and called a number...
"Yes, they've met," She said and then listened to what the person on the other side of the phone had to say.
"Yes, I'll set the plans in motion. Thank you again for this opportunity given me." She said again and ended the conversation with a bright smile on her face.
