Chapter 75

Although the couple was serious with their movements, the little child found it amusing and he giggled to show his amusement. Calhoun and Diana turned to stare at the boy who saw them as clowns. Calhoun didn't know if he could continue with what he had wanted to do.

"Diana..." He called. Diana turned to stare at him and he went silent.

"What?" She asked. "Why did you call me?"

"You should stop staring at me like that, you're playing unfairly." He accused.

"Playing unfair?" Diana asked. She was taken aback by his accusations. "How can you so easily accuse me of such a thing?"

"When you stare at me in such a manner, it makes me feel as if I'm lost in a world unknown. A place where I can't feel anything anymore."

"You're talking gibberish," Diana said, giggling. "But I think I get what you're saying."

"You do?"

"Mhmm." Diana nodded, smiling. She grabbed the collar of his shirt and her hand slid down to the center. "You used to make me feel that way, once upon a time."

Calhoun smiled. "Then what changed?"

Diana's hands moved around his chest. She didn't know what she was doing, she didn't know if she could continue or stop. Calhoun however was pleased that she had taken the initiative to touch him by herself.

"I grew up." She whispered. "I figured out that you were probably also like that to everyone else."

Calhoun smiled. "I think my real problem was that I never really got to know who would care about me for me."

"Care about you?" Diana reiterated. "Did you care about anyone too?"

"Diana, let me tell you a story." He said. "will you listen if I told you?"

"That depends on how interesting it sounds."

Calhoun chuckled. "Then can we sit and talk?"

Diana stared at him. She didn't want to talk, she wanted to feel him. She wanted him to touch her. But she had been distracted by Coco.

Maybe she could allow him to begin his story then when Coco fell asleep, she could do with him as he pleased.

Would it change anything between them? Nope. She would still treat him the same way she had always done. Or so she thought.

Calhoun was oblivious to her plans and went to sit on the chair by the side. There was only one seat and he wondered where she would sit too. He could offer for her to sit on his lap, perhaps that would spice things up a little. If she refused, he could say he didn't mean it as well.

Diana went to the ground and sat beside her boy. She carried him in her arms and cuddled him to sleep. She stared at Calhoun, waiting for him to start.

"Okay, so I'm sure you have heard of the battle that happened between the werewolves and the sorcerers." Calhoun began. "Even if you haven't heard of it, I shall enlighten you."

"Far away from the dwelling of men, the werewolves and all other magical creatures resided in a deserted area known as the celestial. They accepted their portion given to them for a habitat, but the humans were not satisfied. They wanted the entire world for themselves, they began to venture into the celestial world, wreaking havoc in the habitation of these supposedly mindless creatures."

"The werewolves joined forces with the sorcerers to overthrow the human reign. After a long-lasting battle, the creatures won. But they couldn't live among humans as animals so they took help from the sorcerers to be able to transform at will. The only price was that they would be uncontrollable during the full moon."

"Wisteria was one of the towns taken over by the sorcerers to be ruled by them. However, the werewolves did not find it acceptable to be under the sorcerers alone since they used their magic to withhold them. It took the strong will of Montego Marjun, a cruel rogue werewolf, to overthrow them. It resulted in him being cursed by the most powerful sorcerer."

"The kingdom was going to end by his grandson. His grandson was never going to birth a male heir to continue the rule. Everyone knew about the curse, but no one knew the end to it. If eventually, his grandson produced an heir, the child will not only be a powerful werewolf but will also access the powers of the sorcerers."

"The overthrow of the sorcerers led to the ruling of the humans by the werewolves. Montego took his seat as the Alpha king of the Wisteria pack. The humans who lived there became his subjects. He made the members of his pack the nobles in the town while the humans were to work off their bodies to please them."

"Gradually, the other towns began to form a resistance to Montego, forgetting that it was he who gave them their power. But no matter how much they wanted to go against him, they knew how cruel he could be, so their plans were limited."

"All that happened, until the time for my ruling, Montego's grandson. When they saw that truly, there was going to be no heir, they began to plan attacks on me. They felt I was too powerful and I prevented them from fulfilling their will."

"Now everyone wants to be the cruelest Alpha king, but they can't be if I'm still alive."

"Hold on, Calhoun." Diana suddenly interrupted. "When you said you wanted to tell me about you, I had assumed you wanted to tell me about your family, your parents and all."

Calhoun's expression changed instantly. "you want to know about my parents?"

"Tell me. I don't know anything about you, Calhoun. Asides from you being the cruelest Alpha king who despite his cruelty still managed to be cursed." Diana teased. She stared down at Coco who was fast asleep. She laid him softly on the mattress.

She stood up and walked over to meet him where he sat. Calhoun was wondering in his heart what she was up to. He just stared at her, his eyes following her movements.

Diana began to unbutton her shirt slowly. Calhoun stared at her still.

"I'm listening," Diana whispered as she undid two buttons. "Man, is it hot in here?"

Calhoun swallowed. "How?" How could it be hot? It was snowing outside and he wasn't even certain they could make it out alive by morning. Judging from the way the snow had fallen while they were outside, he was certain of their tent is covered by the following morning. Perhaps warring in the snow was a bad idea? Calhoun didn't know what was to come with the breaking of dawn.

"My parents weren't much. My mother was the one who managed to be a little ruthless. My father was kind. Almost giving up the throne of Wisteria to the other packs." Calhoun said. "People like Yara who have been fighting since my grandfather sat on the throne."

"Yara has been in existence since Marjun's rulership?" Diana asked, pretending to be surprised. By now she had completely undone her buttons. Calhoun could not take it anymore.

"What are you doing?" He asked. Diana walked up to him and stood before him. Calhoun's eyes were on her body but he was trying to get his eyes off and keep them on her face at least.

"Feel free to stare, I'm hoping you would," Diana whispered. She stretched her hand out to him. "Wanna dance with me?"

"Dance? There's no music." Calhoun refuted.

"We can hum our music. Or better still, make some."

"Make some? How?"

"With our heartbeats," Diana whispered. Calhoun grabbed her hand and stood up from his chair. He held her waist softly.

"Diana, I don't care if there is music, I would love to dance with you for the rest of my life."

Diana giggled. "You sound so cheesy, I don't think I like cheesy Calhoun."

"You don't?" Calhoun asked in surprise. "Well that's not an issue still, it's a limited offer."

"Limited offer? Cal, I don't like it but I want you to be cheesy with me." Diana said.

"What did you just say?" Calhoun asked, pulling her closer to him. "Repeat it, what did you call me?"

"Cal?" Diana asked. She was unsure of what had happened but if he didn't like it, she could find something else. Like Coco's dad.

"Diana... You gave me a nickname." He said.

"Does this mean you have forgiven me and you're accepting me back?"

Diana smiled without responding. Forgiven, yes. Accepted, no. But she wouldn't tell him that and stand a chance to ruin the already made night. She stood on her tiptoes and kissed him softly.

Calhoun would never allow the kiss to end as just a kiss, he snaked his arm around her waist, and his other hand supported her neck as he deepened the kiss. Diana was living the moment. This was what she always dreamed of. She was never brave enough to tell Julitta or even admit it to herself, but this was what she always wanted.

Calhoun slid his hand down from her waist and grabbed her soft bums. Diana sighed softly.

"Cal, if you do that, this night will end before it starts." She whispered.

"I don't mind restarting it over and over again," Calhoun whispered back. Diana stared into his eyes. They were glowing red and rather than scaring her, it made her feel more wanted by him. She buried further into his arms and Calhoun felt content.

Diana allowed Calhoun to show her how he had missed her. She gave herself to him, opening up and leaving no reservations. Calhoun gave out his all to her as well. He was content that she had accepted him back and was happier that he didn't have to do much work to get her back as well.

After their exercise, Diana lay beside Coco while Calhoun lay behind her, spooning her from behind. Diana held a soft smile as Calhoun caressed her skin.

"You never finished your story." She whispered. "Perhaps I would be able to fall asleep if you told it to the end."

"Is it that boring to you?" Calhoun asked.

"Not at all." Diana refused immediately. "It's rather lovely, it's able to make me sleep."

"Oh, you." Calhoun chuckled. "Well, from a tender age, I was able to beat most of the Wisterian warriors and two commanders. Grandfather was so pleased with me, he taught me more tricks before he died."

"He made some potions for me and hid them, showing only me where he had kept them."

"How sweet of him." Diana commended. "What kind of potions were they?"

"Poisons."

"Oh." Diana muttered. "not sweet at all. What are you supposed to do with the poison potions?"

"Well, they work differently for me. Whereas they would kill anyone at all, they wouldn't kill me because I'm a direct descendant of him, and I share his blood."

"So someone who shares your blood won't be affected?" Diana asked. Her eyes darted to Coco's sleeping figure that lay before her and her smile widened.

"Yeah. So if we can make a baby, we can test the poison on him or her." Calhoun answered.

"Him or her? Which would you rather have?"

"I wish for a boy first, then he can learn all the things of the kingdom and rulership. Then I want a daughter next. Then while her brother learns how to be an Alpha, I will pamper my princess till she's old enough, then she will choose what Alpha she wants to marry." Calhoun said.

"Alpha? Must she wed an Alpha?" Diana asked. "What if a girl comes first?"

"That too is fine," Calhoun said. "She can begin learning before her brother too. That way, she can teach him while we enjoy ourselves."

"Calhoun!" Diana scolded. "You know what? It's morning already, let's just sleep a little. I have a feeling that the war is just beginning."

Calhoun chuckled. She could feel what he was feeling too. "It's more than just a feeling darling, the war is only just beginning."

Diana allowed herself to be cuddled by Calhoun while she slept. By the time she woke up, she couldn't find Calhoun anywhere around her. She smirked. Thankfully, she had evaded the talk about accepting him back. But the next thing that happened was beyond her guess.

Her tent was torn open from the top to the bottom and she was exposed to a troop of Fraco soldiers, led by Eugene himself. Her eyes moved to Coco who was still beside her and she heard Eugene chuckle evilly.

"Alas, mother and child shall die in each other's arms."
