Chapter 80

Everyone expected that Diana would be killed but their groan at Eugene was surprising. Calhoun wasn't on the ground anymore, he was behind Eugene with a small dagger. After being stabbed, Eugene turned around and whacked Calhoun but was surprised to see that the man did not move at all.

When Diana told them about Coco being his child, the curse was completely broken and all his powers that had been locked were easily restored. The sorcerer who had cursed him had finally lost the rest of his powers and Calhoun was the one who gained them.

The powers were potent and they healed him immediately, restoring him to his full glory. His eyes opened at the moment when the blast happened and he saw how Eugene hurried to Diana to kill both her and his son. He quickly went to fight. So Coco was his son and not the son of the soldier? How nice.

He immediately stabbed Eugene with one of his poison-filled daggers. He knew the wound would close up instantly and the man would feel as if nothing had happened. That was his striking point. The poison was too lethal and the more one fought against it, the more potent it became.

If Eugene's blood tried to fight against it, it would become more potent and he would die even quicker. Then he also realized something. He had become stronger, faster, and more agile. Was this because the curse had been broken?

Whatever the reason was, he liked it. Calhoun and Eugene fought for a long time. The onlookers could only see sparks of light as the both of them tried to match each other's speed and agility. Well, in truth, it was more of Eugene trying to match up.

Felix was in awe. He had fought many battles alongside Calhoun but he had never witnessed such skill. Calhoun was too fast, even for Eugene to follow.

Eugene was finally able to land a hit and he quickly cast a spell but right before he completed it, he felt the urge to throw up. He paused, holding onto his stomach. He opened his mouth to throw up whatever was troubling him and he saw blood.

He was confused as to why and how he was throwing up blood. He raised his confused gaze to Calhoun who was smirking wickedly.

"You know, when dealing with people who claim to be smart like you, we have to think outside the spell book," Calhoun said. "The first stab was laced with poison."

"Poison doesn't work on me-"

"Yeah yeah, poison doesn't work for you and all that shit." Calhoun rolled his eyes. "This is a special type of poison. It's rather healthy for me."

"I have taken so much of this that my body sees it as food," Calhoun said. "So even if you drank my blood, you'd die."

Eugene's eyes went wide in surprise. Was he really about to die?

"I understand how you feel. Honestly, I felt the same when I saw the blast. The one that sliced me." He said. "I'm okay now."

"That's impossible." Eugene scoffed. "How can your blood be poison to me?"

"To you?" Calhoun chuckled. "To everyone!"

Eugene groaned lightly and coughed. More blood came out from his mouth. Calhoun smirked.

"More blood from you." Calhoun teased. "You see, the more your body fights against the poison, the more corrosive it becomes."

Eugene growled. His eyes turned red and he glared at Calhoun. His skin was breaking into hives and they began to peel. Once they fell off, they would automatically turn to ashes and the cold wind would blow them off.

Calhoun stood over Eugene. "Beheading you would be nice of me. If I killed you now, you would be grateful that I removed the pain you feel."

"So I won't do that. I shall allow you to go through the pain your ancestor could not endure."

"My grandfather was too nice to have killed your ancestor -"

"I am the ancestor!" Eugene growled. As much as he tried to harm Calhoun, the poison was working faster than he could comprehend and the pain he felt within him was terrible too.

Calhoun's brow came up in surprise. "You are the ancestor? You are the last sorcerer? The one who escaped to return?"

"I am he," Eugene growled. Calhoun could also see that the poison was beginning to lose its effects on him.

"Well, I changed my mind. I want to kill you now." He said. Before the man could react, he plunged his sword into Eugene's heart, the flaming sword burned Eugene's heart out and with a scream, he fell, dead.

Calhoun raised his head in victory. He smirked. Now he was done with the threats, he was left to continue his rule in his kingdom. But Calhoun would have never imagined that he would feel the pain he felt.

It was a sharp pain in his heart and his expression went blank. He felt it so painful as if someone was squeezing his heart. He felt something trickle down his skin and he looked down to find his shirt stained red. It had stuck to his skin to show that it was true that wet.

He placed his hand on the spot where the pain emerged and he felt the sharpness of the knife used to stab him. Slowly, he looked back to see who had stabbed him.

"George-?" He croaked. His eyes showed the pain and angst of the betrayal he felt and for George, that was more than satisfying.

"You're too proud of yourself, Calhoun. I can't stand it anymore. If Eugene could not fulfill the wish of the other wolves by eradicating you, then I would."

"You had so much time..." Calhoun groaned.

"Why now?"

For him, it would have been better if he had died before he found Diana and his child. Knowing that he was going to die before he made peace completely with them, he felt more pain.

"I wanted you to break the curse first. If someone would sit on the throne, then the curse needed to be broken." George said. "Now that it has been broken, you can die peacefully."

"Now don't worry..." George whispered. "I will take good care of Diana and her child. They will serve me and Tricia, she will be my queen."

Calhoun felt enraged but there was nothing he could do. He was dying. He tried to glance at Felix and Evander but George used the knife in his hand to slap his face. The knife slashed his face from his forehead to below his eyes and blood dripped into his eyes, temporarily blinding him.

Calhoun grunted silently. Why was he always alone when he was to die? He was getting weaker. This was the third time his blood was soaking the snow. When he said he wanted the snow to turn red with blood, he never expected that his blood would be among the ones to color the white snow.

"George, you bastard!"

George whacked him in the face again, sending him to the ground. Calhoun refused to let any sound of the pain out loud, he would not want George to find satisfaction in what he was doing.

"Call me a bastard, one more time!" George growled.

"You bastard!" Calhoun spat.

George kneed him in the jaw and then kicked him in the chest. He kept kicking him severely. Calhoun didn't just feel the pain of the kicks, he felt the pain from the wound multiplied by a hundred.

"George." Calhoun tried for the last time before he finally fell to the ground. George grinned at him.

"Foolish man."

He turned to Felix and Evander. He had already taken care of them before he went to face Calhoun. They weren't dead but they were as weak as they could be. They could only see and not move. Felix's gaze was hard as if he could murder him.

"George... You bastard." A soft whimper came. George turned back to glance at Calhoun.

He chuckled. "Even in death, you still remember the name of your murderer? Take it to hell, tell the devil, and see if he would punish me."

"Oh wait, you are the devil and there is nothing you can do! I already finished you in this life and I will do the same again and again."

"George, you bastard." The voice came again.

George glared at him. "Don't you dare speak again, or I shall slit your throat as well. I'm giving you the chance to die peacefully and not so battered."

The soft laughter followed after his words and he got mad. "George, you fool."

Diana felt the force of the battle and she opened her eyes. The first thing she did was to see if Coco was okay and he was. She was more grateful for that than anything else. She watched Calhoun battle against Eugene and she praised him in her heart.

When she noticed how fast Calhoun went, she wondered why he seemed different. She tried to get up but she couldn't. She watched George prance about and he looked suspicious. Why was he walking about the place and he looked so agitated too?

She saw how Felix's eyes widened when Evander told him something and Felix jumped to attack George but the man had prepared for them, he stabbed Felix and did the same to Evander before they could land a hit. That was the advantage to him and the disadvantage to them for being trained by Calhoun.

The two supporters of Calhoun easily fell to the ground and she gasped silently. Perhaps they attacked him and that was why he did that. Was he being pressured by the war? Diana could not just wrap her mind around the reason for George to harm Felix and Evander.

She went silent and watched. If she saw any other strange movement from him, she would attack him. But she couldn't understand why she was so weak and couldn't stand up. She watched how Calhoun defeated Eugene. She was quite surprised at Eugene's strength and resilience.

Well, the people who showed less strength often turned out to be the strongest people that existed. She smiled alongside Calhoun in victory. But when she looked around, she could no longer find George, and her smile disappeared.

She was still looking around for him when she turned back to Calhoun and saw the huge red patch on his shirt. Her gaze moved up to his face and she saw how bland it was. Her eyes widened in horror as she watched George appear from behind Calhoun with his hand still on the knife stuck in his chest.

She wanted to scream but somehow, her voice refused to come out. She cried silently, watching in pain as George threatened Calhoun, and hit him severally. Her body was vibrating with anger.

Calhoun fell to the ground. She cried. George walked around, staring at the bodies of the men he felt he had defeated. For Diana, it was a great loss. She had lost the man she loved, even before they could reunite.

George chuckled and she heard him make plans about how he would turn her into his slave and make some other girl the queen. She smirked despite her tears. So that was his plan? Not her, she would take over her man's throne. Calhoun was hers and his throne was hers too.

She got up from the ground, silently. She had to confuse him first. She started speaking to him. Her voice had come out too soft and she knew it was because of the pain she felt. He finally found her.

"You're alive?" He asked in surprise. His hand tightened around his sword and Diana saw it.

"No. I'm dead." Diana said. "And you're about to join me."

George raised his sword and swung it at Diana, thinking she would fight back. He swung it around and when he didn't hear any sound, he looked closely. She was no longer there. He looked left and right.

"Don't turn." She said. George's eyes widened and he was about to whoosh around when Diana's sword slit his throat, completely taking off his head from his body. The body turned but the head remained in position. Diana had won. But she had lost a lot in the process.
