Diana's gaze was locked onto Eugene, she watched every one of his actions. How he took the baby from Julitta and then raised his sword to hit Julitta away from his side. Diana watched wide-eyed as Julitta's flesh tore open and blood gushed out.
Somehow seeing Julitta's blood turn the snow red made her satisfied. That was her payment for betraying her.
"Diana... She's injured, do something!" Calhoun yelled out. Diana refused to listen. She smirked at Julitta's blood as it flowed out. She was satisfied. She turned to glare at Eugene.
"Diana! Do something!" Calhoun yelled again. "It's Julitta."
"So? What if it's Julitta? She betrayed me, handing my child over to Eugene. Why should I save her? She is the one who trusted Eugene and now you're asking me to save her?"
Calhoun was bewildered. "Are you out of your mind?"
"Why do you care?" Diana yelled back. "Are you in love with her? Tell me, Calhoun. Have you been secretly seeing her behind?"
Calhoun moved back, feeling a little guilty. Why would she accuse him? Now if he wanted to prove his innocence, he had to allow her to die? He couldn't. He couldn't allow the poor girl to die. He knew that this was a trick that Eugene had up his sleeve. The man had magical powers.
"Diana, listen. Just listen to me... You have to understand that Eugene is trying to use this means to distract you. He wants to reduce the number of support you have..."
"Even if I heal her, she won't still be able to fight, what difference does it make?" Diana refuted.
Calhoun shook his head. "The difference it makes is that you get to show Eugene that you can't be easily controlled."
"I don't know how to save her," Diana said softly.
Calhoun nodded. He turned to stare at Julitta who was already going limp. "Maybe we should just turn her to one of us."
"One of us? One of us?? Cal, can you hear yourself?!" Diana yelled. "There is no way we can turn her! Do you think we are vampires who only have to suck blood? The bite of a werewolf can potentially ruin a human's life."
"I know, I know. But you have to understand that it's our only shot." Calhoun replied.
Diana was quiet. She was in a dilemma. She felt betrayed by Julitta but didn't want to see her dead. The idea of biting her to turn her into a werewolf was not appealing to her. The werewolf poison was too unpredictable in the body of a human, it could either kill or turn them. Diana didn't know what it would do to Julitta, so she decided not to go ahead with the plan.
Diana knew that turning someone into a werewolf was not a decision to be taken lightly. It was a life-changing event that could have serious consequences. She didn't want to risk Julitta's life by exposing her to the werewolf poison. Diana was torn between her anger and her compassion for Julitta.
In the end, Diana decided to let Julitta go. She couldn't bring herself to harm her former friend, even though she had betrayed her. Diana knew that she would have to deal with the consequences of her decision, but she was willing to face them. She hoped that Julitta would find her way in life and that they would both find peace.
Calhoun refused to accept Diana's decision to let Julitta die, despite her betrayal. He believed that every life was valuable and worth fighting for. He knew that he couldn't change Diana's mind, but he wasn't going to give up on Julitta.
"Diana, you can't just give up on her!" Calhoun said again. The others who were with them wondered why the life of the human was so important to Calhoun.
"I didn't say I was." Diana lied. She was intentionally stalling time so that Julitta could bleed out completely. She was afraid that she would be the one who consented to kill her soul sister.
"Diana, listen. Julitta would probably be wondering why it's taking you so much time to save her. Okay, okay... I understand that you do not wish to bite her. But there is a surer way of turning her to one of us that won't have the risk of death."
Diana stared at him. "What?"
Calhoun reached into his pocket and retrieved a potion that his grandfather had saved for him. He handed it to Diana and gave her the choice to save Julitta or not. The potion was a powerful tool that could potentially change the fate of Julitta's life.
"One of Marjun Montego's potions? Calhoun, you told me about how lethal it is!"
"Yes... But if we can administer it to her when she has less blood, the reaction against it would be less."
Diana was silent once again. What could she say? She was thinking about it. Calhoun waited patiently for Diana's decision, knowing that it was ultimately up to her to make the call.
The weight of the decision hung heavy in the air as Diana contemplated what to do next. The fate of Julitta hung in the balance as the two of them stood there, waiting for the decision to be made. In the end, Diana made her choice and the potion was used to save Julitta's life.
It was a tense moment, but Calhoun knew that he had made the right decision in letting Diana choose. The power of the potion was undeniable, and it could change the course of history.
Diana walked slowly over to where Julitta lay. She could see that her body had turned cold since she was laying in the snow. Just as she bent over to administer the potion, she saw a bright light around her and she turned. Eugene had tried attacking her but the powers had protected her. She turned back to focus on Julitta.
Eugene was feeling a strong sense of anger. He had Diana's child in his arms, yet he was unable to harm her. Despite his desire to seek revenge, he found himself unable to act on it. The conflicting emotions were overwhelming him. He knew that he needed to find a way to move past this anger and have his revenge.
Calhoun and the others lunged an attack on Eugene, distracting him while Diana poured the potion into the wound. She watched as it began to burn, making a sizzling sound. Her eyes got teary and she began to sob quietly. Was Julitta going to die on her account?
As Calhoun and the others continued their attack on Eugene, his anger grew. Despite their aggression, they were careful not to harm the baby in his arms. Eugene saw this as an opportunity to use the child as a shield.
The situation became more intense as the attackers closed in on Eugene. He felt trapped and helpless, but the baby's presence gave him a sense of protection. He knew that as long as he held onto the child, they wouldn't harm him.
"My king, he's using the child as a shield. What do we do?" Felix asked.
"That's Diana's child. We can't afford to screw this up." Calhoun replied. "We need to find a way to get the child out of his arms."
"That is bordering on being impossible," Evander said.
Thomas nodded. "He's right. Maybe if Diana was here, we could make a better plan. She would know the child better."
"Then what about her friend?" George asked.
"I'll take care of her. I feel so weak by the way." Thomas suggested. "And then if the baby is rescued, we can bring him to me."
All eyes turned to Calhoun to ask for approval and he nodded once. Thomas quickly ran after Diana who was trying to carry Julitta up.
"Leave her to me. Go and save the child." He said to her. Diana stared at him and nodded once. She got up from where she knelt in the snow. Eugene was using her child as protection. Her blood began to boil.
Diana's anger boiled as she ran towards Eugene. Without warning, she attacked him from behind, but to her surprise, he was protected by a powerful force that sent her flying back into a tree. The impact left her groaning in pain as she lay on the snow-covered ground.
The force that protected Eugene was a mystery to Diana. She couldn't understand why it had turned against her after all this while. Despite her confusion, she knew she had to be careful around Eugene from now on. She couldn't risk another attack from the force that had once protected her.
As she lay there, Diana couldn't help but wonder what had caused the force to turn against her. Was it something she had done, or was it simply a matter of fate? Whatever the reason, she knew that she would have to be more cautious in the future if she wanted to avoid another painful encounter.
Calhoun was enraged by the sight of Diana laying there, unmoving. From the sound of her groans, he knew she was still alive but by the way she lay, he could also tell that she was in deep pain.
He swung his sword very quickly as he attacked Eugene. Eugene had enough, he threw Coco up and then spread his arms around. His actions sent a force so powerful that it pushed all of his attackers away. Then he caught the boy again.
Calhoun, Felix, Evander, and George were laid at different points in the snow. Calhoun was the closest to Eugene so he had received more impact from the hit. The force had torn through his stomach and he lay lifeless.
Diana saw it and her eyes filled with tears. She heard Eugene cackle and she turned to stare at him. She got up on all fours, slowly, and started crawling to meet Calhoun. It took her a few minutes and she finally managed to meet him.
His eyes were wide open and she couldn't see any life in them. The tears that gathered in her eyes began to fall freely. They cooled her face and the snow began to fall again.
"Cal..." She whispered. "you can't leave me now. You have to wake up, please."
There was not a single response from him and she began to sob even louder. The others were coming around and they got up slowly. Eugene stared at all of them. He didn't care about them since Calhoun was dead already. That was all he was concerned about.
"Cal... Please," Diana begged.
Felix and Evander came around her and they held her hands, silently comforting her.
"The prophecy said he cannot die but only if the curse is broken." Felix whispered. "Maybe the curse was never broken."
Diana cried even harder. The reason was that she thought that the curse had been broken when she had borne his son. She never knew it was something else.
"What is the curse?" She whispered.
Felix glanced at Evander who nodded for him to tell her. "The curse is for the one on the throne to remain childless. If he gets a child, he wouldn't have died."
Diana's eyes began to clear a bit. "But he has a child," Diana said.
"What?" Felix asked. "What child?"
Suddenly it dawned on them. If Calhoun had a child by Diana, did it mean that Coco was Calhoun's child? Did he know that Coco was his child?
Eugene stared hard at them. "Wonderful reunion. But let's see what happens when the child dies."
Diana and the others didn't know what he was doing to Coco but the boy began to cry so loudly, his cry was piercing.
Diana's heart was breaking with each sound he made and she felt like there was nothing she could do about it. She stared at him and she saw a flash of light pass through his eyes.
Diana vexed. She got up and stood against Eugene. Running towards him, she yelled angrily, "Get your hands off my son!"
There was only a blast and no one knew what happened, but Eugene flew twenty feet backward and Diana came about the same number of feet forward with her arms wrapped protectively around Coco. Eugene did not relent, he was up and before Diana in no time.
Before anyone could react, he raised his sword and brought it down, right at Coco's back. He intended to stab the child with the mother.
