Jonathan started to whimper as he felt his wolf submitting to his cousin. He gritted his teeth in anger when Leah blankly looked at him. She smirked and shook her head as if she was challenging him to fight with her.
“Adam,” Leah called her cousin. She didn't remove her sight from Jonathan since she felt she couldn't trust him. She shook her head when she saw how Adam and Jonathan looked alike. Were they twins?
“I don't understand why you all have the same face.” She said; she pursed her lips.
“We don't even know, either. Sometimes, I thought we were twins, but our parents weren't the same. They said that he's from our second's family.” Adam answered. Jonathan chuckled. He touched his stomach and even shook his head at how dumb Adam was.
“Adam, they keep saying that you're smart, but the truth is, your freaking stupid,” Jonathan exclaimed. He groaned when he felt his skin slowly cut. Leah was glaring at him, and he realized that Leah had thrown a dagger at him.
“Don't you dare insult, my cousin!” Leah growled. Her long canines were showing, which made Jonathan submit to her.
“I am your cousin, too. This is why I hate you all. You don't even know that I exist.” Jonathan gritted his teeth and grinned at Adam.
“Why do you think we have the same face, Adam? I know that you're getting suspicious of me, and I know that you feel that we're twins, right? Yeah, we're twins. Your family gave me to our auntie because they chose you.” Jonathan added.
Adam frowned, but he didn't say anything. He thought that at first, but he forgot about it since Jonathan kept telling me they were just cousins, so he believed in him.
“It's because some say a healer couldn't conceive a twin. They said those babies would be in a great war, and only one would be alive.”
“It's one of the myths that all of the healers followed. They don't want a twin baby because it brings disasters or maybe a curse to their family. The other would be blessed, and the other would have a curse. Tell me, Leah; you have a twin baby, right? Do you believe in that crap?” Leah was shocked at what Jonathan had told her. She closed and opened her eyes, and her heart started racing.
“I know that all the healers knew you were born a twin baby. Are you sure that they're all in your packhouse?” Jonathan added. He laughed hysterically when he saw how Leah got stunned by his sudden revelation.
“So are you telling me that Adam was blessed, and you are the curse? Jonathan, you decide to be like that. It's because you saved your hatred for your family. Don't blame the Moon Goddess if you grew up like that; you decide to be an asshole.”
“And I don't believe in that myth. It's just a myth, and I can prove that my children aren't like that! I will make sure that they will love each other and even take care of each other. I know they will be good at each other growing up.”
“Jonathan, it's your fault that you're an evil asshole now. And I know that it's you who told them that I gave birth to a twin baby. Don't play with me, your mother fucker.” Jonathan stepped back. He didn't know that Leah would notice that he was the one who told them about her children.
“So, the healers wouldn't like a twin. It's too evident that you're a cursed one; what do you think will do to you once I tell them that you're Adam's twins?” Leah moved closer to him, so he quickly stepped back.
“You're the one that they need to kill since you're the one who wanted them to die. Did you think that I won't get your plan quickly? You know that Anaya and her family did something terrible to the Nightwalker, but you still chose to help them escape my pack. What do you think the Nightwalker will do since you are part of them?”
“They will blame you because you are the reason why there are a lot of healers who would die today. So they might behead you to make me feel happy. Did you think that I'm too dumb like you?” Leah smirked. She took something inside her pocket. She held his chin. Jonathan aggressively restrained, but Leah was too strong to keep his chin again.
“You should be a good boy, Jonathan, or I'll tell them about your secret.” Leah quickly took the potion that Karen gave to her. Adam moved closer and held Jonathan's shoulder.
“You're still my cousin, so I can still give you a chance to perform your loyalty on me.” Leah immediately drips the potion on Jonathan's mouth. Within a few minutes, he started sweating. His eyes reddened, and his canines showed.
“I want you to pledge your honesty to me. If you don't do that, I will kill you.” Jonathan shook his head and furiously growled. He was panting too heavily, and his chest began to clench when he didn't do what Leah wanted.
“I know that Adam still loves you as his brother. You should be thankful that I still give you a chance to live. Pledge your loyalty to me, Jonathan. I still care for you because you are my cousin.” Jonathan touched his chest; he felt his heart was going to burn.
Adam's eyes widened in fear. He was afraid that something terrible might happen to Jonathan. He embraced Jonathan and started massaging his back.
“Don't you dare hug me! It's gross!” Jonathan screamed, his eyes moistening when he saw how worried Adam was about him. Why does Adam always make him feel that he's the one who has a curse?
“Shut up; I know you're in pain because I could feel it,” Adam whispered, which stunned him for a moment. He cried when his chest was slightly getting burned.
“You're such an asshole, Adam. After what I did to you, this is why I hated you too much. You make me feel that I'm evil here.” Jonathan couldn't stop himself from being honest with him.
“That's true. You acted evil; sorry for making you feel like that.” Leah blurted out, which made Jonathan give him a murderous glare.
“Pledge your loyalty to me, Jonathan. I want to remind you that once you decide to betray me, that potion will be spread inside your body. You will die.” Leah watched Jonathan gnashing his teeth. She felt amazed that Jonatha could still take it since Karen told her the effect of it. It's a loyalty potion.
She realized that even though Adam knew what Jonathan did, he still trusted him. If she kills Jonathan in front of him, she knows that it will have a significant effect on Adam. He appreciated his cousin, even though he told her it was his cousin's fault that she fell at the library.
“N-No, I don't want to pledge. ahhh–” Jonathan started yelling when he felt that the burning was growing more. It was so painful that he thought that his body was burning.
“I– pledge my loyalty to you, Leah Vuk. I will be loyal to you.” He surrendered when he couldn't endure the pain anymore.
“You shouldn't do that earlier; you're making things harder for yourself,” Leah commented. She crossed her arms and sighed.
“I'm sorry if I need to do that. You pushed me to do that on you.” Leah added. Jonathan gasped when the pain faded, and he felt he had his second life. He scoffed at Leah and even glared at Adam.
“Yeah, right?” Jonathan sarcastically agreed. He rolled his eyes and pushed Adam away from him.
“Let's go; I know they're all waiting for us.” Adam coldly suggested. He began walking, and he didn't even dare to talk to Jonathan.
Leah followed Adam, but when she walked by Jonathan. She winked at him, which made Jonathan scowl. “This bitch is more intelligent than you. You can't kill me since you have the loyalty potion. I won against you, asshole.” She left him.
Jonathan had no choice but to follow them even though he didn't like it. They all began walking to the North part of the forest, and they stopped when there was a wall.
Leah's forehead creased. How did they enter if there was a wall?
“Do what you did to read the book,” Adam mumbled. Leah sighed; she took a small knife and pointed the edge at her finger. A small amount of blood went out, and she touched the wall.
The wall created a leaf logo, and it opened. Leah's eyes widened in shock. She couldn't believe there was a magical wall at the end of the land. Her surprised expression was gone when she heard how Jonathan imitated her face.
“This is the gate of the healers,” Adam informed her. He gave her a black-cloaked which made her more confused.
“We need to ensure that no one will ever see you tonight. Fiona told me that we should ensure your safety since your enemy had a lot of loyal members here.” Leah nodded after hearing it. They came into the pack, and she could see many healers walking peacefully.
“We should talk using the mind link. I don't want them to know that you're the Luna of the Nightwalker. I'm sure they will do everything to kill you.” Adam seriously said, using the mind link. They began walking, and they saw how some people were glancing at them. She was thankful that she hid her smell so no one could distinguish who she was.
“We're too near,” Adam informed her. Leah noticed the forest part didn't have a lot of people. It was too silent; she could see every wood house.
“Don't mind them. They are all confused why there is a stranger tonight. Some of Fiona's members checked on us to ensure we were safe.” Leah sighed. She was thankful that she had a cloak that could help her hide her identity.
“Thank you, Adam.” They stopped at the big house; a man came out. His eyes widened when he saw Jonathan, so he immediately called some men to arrest him.
“What is happening? Why are you arresting him?” Leah panicked as she hid Jonathan behind her back. She heard Jonathan utter more profanities and even cursed the men.
“You can't arrest someone without reason. I know that I could trust him.” Leah was too persistent. She couldn't accept that they were all trying to arrest Jonathan.
“She's one of Olivia's men. We must ensure he won't report this secret meeting to his master.” The man answered. He pointed the knife at Jonathan, which made Leah growl so loud. The man trembled in fear when he noticed that the woman in front of them looked more robust.
“Don't you dare point your freaking knife at my cousin? Don't test my patience; I know he won't report everything to them.” Leah repeated her words. Her long canines showed, and her eyes glowed in red.
“How could you attest that he wouldn't betray you, Leah?” A beautiful woman slowly walked toward them, which made them stunned. The woman frowned when she saw her face. She sighed.
“No way! How could you inherit your father's features? Argh!” The woman acted like she was more frustrated.
“I told you, honey. I know your friend was too deadly in love with him. I know that Leah would look like him!” Fiona glared at her husband when he repeated his words.
“Are you sure that you are Leah? Okay, dear, you're beautiful, but I thought that I could see my friend right now. You're beautiful, but your father wasn't.” Leah didn't know how to react. She didn't understand what the woman uttered.
“Dummy! She told you that you like your father. She's expecting you to look like your mother. That's what she was telling you about.” Jonathan mumbled, so she pinched the skin on his waist, which made Jonathan scream in pain.
