Chapter Alone

*Omario POV*

“We need the pup to keep Omario in check. Cut it out, give it to me and kill her,” Alpha C instructs while I am on my knees begging for them to spare my mate.

Him and Olivia have been this back and forth trying to come up with the best way to kill Abi while keeping themselves safe.

Olivia shakes her head. “If I do that, then she will shift into that fire monster. You were there when she killed everyone in a flash. She has to die before the pup is born or we are as good as dead.”

Alpha C sighs. “You are right. What can I do without you?”

Olivia giggles and sticks her tongue down the old man’s throat. It’s a disgusting sight but the least of my worries right now. My mate is groaning with labour pains while her life hangs by a thread.

“How about I will kill her and quickly cut out the pup before it dies?” she suggests.

I have to agree that is the best strategy for them, but really deadly for Abi. She won’t shift and risk killing our pup, but that hands her right into enemies hands. With this plan, they will have my pup, which means I will remain in this powerless position I am in right now.

“Do it.”

My heart sinks as those words escape Alpha C’s evil lips.

“No, please don’t,” I plead for my mate as I see the knife sink deep into her chest and her clothes immediately getting soaked with blood.

The sky suddenly turns dark, lightning tears up the sky and I can’t breathe. I feel every inch of that knife as it sinks deeper into Abi.

“Babe, look at me,” I link Abi. She turns her head and our eyes meet. The tears streaming down make my vision hazy.

“I am so sorry.”

I knew that the pregnancy made her vulnerable. It was my duty and responsibility to protect her and I failed dismally at it.

“It’s not your fault, Omar. Take care of our pup.”

I shake my head as blood starts dripping from my lips and nostrils.

“I don’t think I can live without you.”

“Omar, you have to. You have to make them pay and you have to raise our pup,” she says sternly, but she does not get it. Our bond has never been an ordinary one. I know that she won’t last long because I can feel myself slipping away too.

Thunderclap followed by multiple lightning flashes fill the air. Familiar howls of my subjects follow a distance away.

“Our people know that their Luna is dying. Keep her talking, they will be here,” Rufus urges next to me, but I can hardly concentrate now.

Our people know that Abi is in the verge of death because the sky somehow always responds this way when she is dying.

“Titan,” I link my wolf. He has completely shut off since Olivia pointed the knife at Abi.

“No, I don’t want to see it. Please don’t make me see her die.”

“Titan, we are dying too.”

“I know, it’s for the best.”

“Titan.”

“I don’t want to live without them.”

“Okay.”

It’s not like I can do anything about this anyway or maybe I feel exactly like he does. Abi is no longer linking when I start coughing up blood. It won’t be too long for me too now. All I can hope for now is that our warriors rescue our pup from these two because I don’t see them letting him live.

Both Abi and I have accepted our fates when small stones roll from the ground and the earth starts shaking. I know what it is but we never get earthquakes in Lily town.

Thunder, lightning and increasing magnitude of the earthquake, I suddenly feel so sleepy.

“Don’t close your eyes, Your Highness,” Rufus urges but my eyelids are so heavy.

“Help is near, please,” he adds but I can’t hold on. I can’t link with my mate, nor my wolf. I can only conclude that they are gone. I feel so empty, so alone.

“Titan.”

Silence

“Abigail.”

Nothing

“Nina.”

I am alone, I am alone…

“Not anymore, Your Highness. Not anymore…”

“Your Highness…Your Highness…” Rufus’ voice sounds so faint but something is happening. It’s something mightier than the thunder, than the lightning and even the earthquake. It’s a force I have felt before, but much stronger that consumes the space, forcing all wolves into submission. Forcing my eyes to open slightly, I see it.

Majestic, pitch black fur, over a meter above the ground, he strolls through my enemies with a force of nothing I have ever seen. Everyone he passes near slammers down into their knees with the crushing sound caused by the knee bones breaking.

The sceptre he throws on the ground in front of Luna Sarah is not of Lilly town, but that of Palmland pack.

“My pup will be safe. The succession of the throne is secured. I can go and join my mate now,” I think to myself as I close my eyes again. Acceptance is actually peaceful. I have messed up, learned from my mistakes and did my best to be decent human, Alpha and king.

Big hands grab my face and force my eyes to open again. “No, you can’t, Your Highness. You can’t.”

“I am so tired. Let me go, Rufus.”

I appreciate his loyalty but can’t he see that there is nothing left for me here?
