*Omario POV*
Rufus keeps my eyes open. Alpha C’s face is priceless when Dire’s razor sharp teeth sink into his neck. His lifeless body is thrown into the floor like the useless piece of garbage he was.
Olivia’s wolf must have deemed the scene too much to witness because she is now in her human form. I don’t feel the least sympathetic as she holds her chest and screams in horror as the disgusting stolen bond fades.
“His Highness is slipping away. I can’t hold him back anymore!” It is the first time I hear Rufus so distressed. I guess the prophet really did love me.
Dire growls at Olivia, who shrinks and trembles. Shaking his head, he shifts, hurries towards me and kneels in front of me.
“Leave his eyes alone,” Terrence commands.
“He will surely die!” Rufus cries but Terrence laughs at him.
“No, he won’t.” He sounds so certain but I am not so pessimistic. “Unless he is an idiot, then he will,” he adds.
I guess the time away has not done much to change his cocky attitude.
“Listen here, Son. I dare you to die so I can find my cuz a second chance mate.”
My missing in action wolf is immediately back and growling.
“Fuck you, Terrence!”
The cocky bastard bursts out in laughter. “I missed you too.”
The thought of my mate ending with someone else is enough to keep my eyes open. With Titan back and no longer in the dying mood, I am weak but holding on I shall.
My eyes are open just in time to see my beautiful and heavily pregnant mother rushing towards Abi’s stretcher. She must notice what I already know because she shakes her and starts doing chest compressions.
I turn my eyes away when my mate’s blood spurts out with every compression.
“Terrence! We are too late, she…sh,”
I don’t know when Terrence left my side, I hear him instructing Duncan, Floyd and Luna Sarah to finish off our attackers before joining my mother next to Abi.
Floyd’s wolf is the first to spring up and charges towards Olivia.
My weak heart breaks for my former best friend. I don’t think anything will ever dull the pain of rejection and the loss of his pup, but maybe revenge would help him move on.
Screams and flesh blood fill the air as our enemies, who are not able to stand because of broken knees, get annihilated by my friends.
I force myself to concentrate on the victory scene before me to keep my mind off my mate I can’t link with.
“Maybe, there is something Mother Luna and Terrence can do to save them,” Titan says wishfully, taking me back to what I am trying to avoid thinking about.
“She lost a lot of blood,” my mother’s shaky voice forces me to look at my pale mate.
“That’s what happens when you get stabbed in the heart, Darling.”
Terrence’s chilled voice is really frustrating.
“Keep your mouth shut if you have nothing useful to say!” my mother snaps at him. I feel exactly like her.
That’s enough to get Terrence serious but he does the most outrageous thing.
“What are you doing!” Mother cries when he takes out a knife, slits his wrist and lets his blood drop over Abi’s gaping wound.
I share my Mother’s sentiments but too weak to object.
“Chill, Babe. I got this,” he responds charmingly. “Unless I bleed to death then you…”
“Shut up, Terrence!” Mother exclaims angrily, making Terrence laugh.
“You are really hot when mad.”
“You are really an ass!” I shoutout and jump to my feet before freezing. Terrence might be playful and cocky but whatever he is doing to Abi has brought back my strength and energy. He grins when I reach the stretcher and stand between him and my fuming mother.
“It’s good to have you back, Son,” he says, amused.
At this point I don’t care what he calls me, I am just worried about my mate.
“Is it working?”
“She is your mate, you tell me,”he teases.
I shake my head. Abi is now pink, her chest is rising and falling but I still can’t link with her. Another fear engulfs me. I have heard of people who stay alive but brain dead. I don’t just want my mate alive, I need her awake, talking and ruling with me.
“Hey Cuz. Just know that if you die, Olivia is ready to take your place. She will have you man and nurse your pup.”
I shoot Terrence a deadly look and knock him hard on his ribs. He knows how much Abi hated anything linking me with Olivia.
A loud gasp, her eyes flip open and I can’t stop my tears from flowing down as I throw myself on her.
She coughs. “Omar.”
“Babe.”
“You are pressing on my chest.”
I spring up in a panic, irritated with myself. She was stabbed on her heart and here I am putting pressure on it.
“Ahhhh!”
Her groan catches me by surprise and startles me.
“Babe, are you ….”
“The baby’s head is out!” my mother shouts and all chaos breaks loose as everyone runs around like headless chickens, trying to grab anything close-by to welcome the pup.
“Oh, he is perfect!” Mother exclaims while wrapping him with her scuff.
I filled the entire wing with the most expensive cotton blankets and clothing, but my mother’s scuff could not be more suitable for the occasion.
Abi can’t hold back her tears when our pup is placed on her bosom to feed.
“He looks just like you. He is perfect,” she chokes on her tears.
“He has our eyes and smile,” Nina says competitively.
I can’t help but laugh. I really thought I would never hear their voices again.
“He has not opened his eyes and you do know that he can’t smile yet, right?”
Trust Titan to rub it in, now Nina is sulking.
“Maybe the next one will look like you,” he adds, amused.
“Hell No! This is the first and the last pup we are ever having!” Nina exclaims and I concur. There is no way in hell I am ever putting my mate in this danger again.
“His wolf better look like me,” she adds with a sulking tone.
I don’t even bother intervening in the conversation because I have no influence on how the pup’s wolf turn out to be.
The sky is suddenly clear with a bright sunlight and the courtyard is packed with our people, who have taken it to themselves to clear out the bodies of our enemies.
They all go on their knees when Rufus lifts the pup up in front of them.
“Long live Prince Alloy of Lily town kingdom!”
“Long live!!!!”
Abi lifts up her eyebrow. “Alloy?”
I shrug my shoulder because we had not reached consensus on what to name him. The inferno does dissolve steel into a liquid alloy. I guess it is a fitting name for him, but Rufus seems to have claimed our pup.
“He shall be the ultimate warrior with the features of steel, inferno and lycan,” he continues.
“Long live!!!!!” the people continue chanting excitedly.
I turn to look at Terrence. The bastard did not tell me that his genes would pass on into my pup.
He grins at me. “He will be indestructible and mighty. Don’t forget that Abi was dying.”
“Fine, you better be around to teach him how to control that.”
Terrence’s powers are nothing I have ever witnessed. I would not even know where to begin to help my pup with that when he finally gets his wolf.
“It will be a pleasure, Son.”
“Stop calling me that!”
“You should stop being a crybaby now. My cute grandson has taken your place.”
“My pup is not going to call you grandpa, Terrence!”
“Do you prefer his real grandpa then?” Mother asks.
“Don’t mention that idiot around my pup!”Just the mention of my dad gets my blood boiling.
“You can’t have your cake and eat it, Baby. Terence is my mate and that makes him your stepdad.”
“Fine!”
I would chose my cocky friend over my evil dad any day.
