Ysmael didn't waste any time as soon as I agreed with his idea. He's taking me somewhere that I've already visited before.
We're going to the Maldives. Going back, that's what he meant.
I heard him arrange a flight right away and request a private plane for us. I don't know what to do at that point. Even though my phone is just right inside my pocket and I have all the opportunity to call my parents, I couldn't bring myself to tell them that I want to go home. Honestly, I didn't even plan on going home for some time as I got so confused about what I saw in my mind.
Just then, while Ysmael was busy getting some calls, Meghan approached me once again and gave me a small box. It's like a box where you can keep jewelry or something. I looked back at her with confusion in my eyes.
"What's this for?" I asked.
"Open it when you're ready," she said, and she hugged me for a while.
"Thank you," I whispered at her as she hugged me.
"Stay alive," she whispered back.
She's a very strange teenager.
As we let go of each other, Ysmael is already waiting for us to finish talking and such. He then held my hand and told me that we should go before those creatures get back here again. We drove for about an hour to the airport at exactly 4 o'clock in the morning. The whole city is still quiet, and the atmosphere is a bit foggy as I look outside through the window while Ysmael's driving really fast.
When we get to the airport, lots of men are already waiting for us. At first, I was a bit suspicious of them, but when one of them approached our car to open the door for me, I finally felt relief. Ysmael held my hand again while these men were trying to protect us by surrounding us like a barricade while we were walking.
My phone suddenly vibrated, and I took it out of my pocket. It's Luke; maybe he's trying to figure out what's happening since I didn't go home last night.
I answered the call.
"Luke, it's—"
"Where are you?" the voice of a man with whom I'm not familiar answered.
I stopped walking, and Ysmael immediately looked at me. The rest of the bodyguards also stopped walking to surround us.
"Who the fuck are you? Why are you holding my brother's phone right now?" I asked coldly, but I couldn't seem to hide the anger in my voice.
Ysmael already knew what was happening, so he signaled some of his men to do something. They immediately left after Ysmael sent them something; maybe it's my address.
"The real question is, how's your brother?" He said as he chuckled. After what he said, I suddenly heard a loud scream, and I could immediately tell who that was. It's Luke!
I ended the call and was about to go back, but then Ysmael grabbed my arms and made me look at him.
"You know it's a trap, and when you get there, you'll probably be tortured," he said in a stern voice as he tried to hold me by my arms.
"My brother needs me," I said, but he just tightened his hold on me.
"You have to be safe for now. If you go to that place, your brother will be in danger even more," he said as he let go of me.
I'm hesitant to go, but he has a point. I wouldn't even guarantee my brother's safety if I tried to go there on my own. Gosh, I hate it when I don't even have the power to save someone who's very important to me. Plus, this serum that Luke keeps putting on my body is such a hassle.
"I'll let my men do the rest, okay?" He said as he cupped my face and kissed my forehead.
I took a deep breath and nodded. I hold back on him while he gets busy on his phone again. I heard him talking to someone and even heard my brother's name. Maybe it's good that I'll just let them handle it before I can even touch those assholes' faces.
We're already waiting for the private plane to land while we're in the car. I'm just playing a game on my phone while my other hand is playing with his. Maybe he noticed what I was doing, and so he lifted my hand right in front of his face and kissed it. I gulped a few times as I watched him do it slowly. I don't even realize that I'm staring at him, but then he flickered his finger on my nose.
"You're easily distracted, just as usual," he said, chuckling. "Let's go now."
Moments later, he's already dragging me out of the car, but before we could even go inside the plane, his phone vibrated. He answered it, and when he looked at me, he smiled. He handed me his phone, and I was a bit confused.
"What happened?" I asked.
"I told you, my men will never fail us," he said, signaling me to answer the phone.
As soon as I put my phone on speaker, someone spoke.
"Take care, sis."
That's the only thing he said, and I've never felt so relieved after it. The call ended, and I received a text saying he'd follow us after a day or two. I couldn't hide the joy in my heart, and so I hugged Ysmael.
"Thank you," I said multiple times while I was in his arms.
He caressed my back upon my tight hug to him. Maybe this is why I married him in the first place. Maybe this is why I stayed with him.
At some point, he's a good man.
We let go of each other when one of his men called him and whispered something to him. I don't know what they talked about, but after that, his mood suddenly shifted. He held my hand, but by the way he dragged me up to enter the plane, I felt a little worry in my mind.
"What's happening?" I asked him when we finally got on board. He takes off his shirt in front of me while I'm still clueless about what's going on.
"I'll meet you in the Maldives," he said, and he was about to walk out on me, but I stopped him. I think I know what he's about to do.
I can clearly see the full moon just about to show up in its full form anytime now.
"Don't go too far, okay?" I said with a worried look in my face.
He then nodded, walked towards me, and kissed the side of my lips quickly before he finally let go of me. As I sat on one of the seats inside, I looked out of the window only to see him howling while he tried to run away from everybody.
I closed my eyes, and as I felt that the plane had already set to fly up, I bit my lips to stop myself from crying.
He's struggling.
And I can't do anything about it.
I tried to hold back my tears as the stewardess served me my food. But as she opened the lid of the tray, I almost gasped.
There's a note stick on the side of the tray saying those words; I've never heard someone say them to me.
"I love you."
