The party ended at midnight, and we really had fun. Of course, everyone was so happy to see me, yet most of the people who attended the little gathering were actually the people from the neighborhood, whom I discovered were kept by Ysmael's grandparents. I asked some of them personally, and all of them are very grateful to his grandpa, who actually pushed them to live in this little village just near the sea.
Thinking about how they did all of this to gather people from different parts of this place made me amazed.
I'm beginning to think that being with them is such a relief. My stay and the mood around the house here with them were not that heavy, unlike the feeling inside our mansion. Although I've encountered lots of arguments with my brother here and even with my parents, the sense of comfort in this house is always lingering in my mind.
This is relaxing.
I woke up a little late and went downstairs only to see Shaina, who was already drinking a hot drink that she probably made for herself. I couldn't help but laugh at the thought of what happened last night. She was literally wasted, and suddenly a man pulled her up to take her to her room. I didn't even get to know the details, but I just heard from lots of whispers that that man was someone that Shaina used to be with whenever she was in the city.
"How's your head now?" I asked to get her attention.
She held onto it and massaged it a little before she spoke.
"It's bearable now."
"You should have seen yourself last night; you were on blast," I said as I headed to the refrigerator to get some water to drink.
She chuckled a bit and took a sip of her hot chocolate. She kept looking at me by then, but she avoided my gaze when I caught her stealing glances at me.
"Do you have anything to say?" I asked.
She immediately shook her head, but the way she looked at me meant something. I just don't know what she wants, but I'll just ask about it afterwards.
The amount of tension between us right now is keeping me from walking out of the kitchen. I know she wanted to say something, and I know that she knows that I knew about it already. She's just still hesitant, and well, I'm willing to wait whenever she's ready to speak up.
I was now busy trying to make some fried rice when she suddenly spoke.
"Does your head still hurt?" She asked with so much concern in her voice.
"Well, there's still a little sting, but I think I'm fine now," I explained shortly.
"It's strange, you know," she whispered.
My eyebrows furrowed, and my curiosity just started to drive me crazy all over again. I picked out a banana after I put the fried rice on a bowl from the fruit basket and joined Shaina, who's now sitting at the dining table. I remained calm and unbothered until she spoke again.
"Your headaches," she said while looking at the side of my head. "It should be continuous until you remember something."
"What do you mean by that?" I asked.
She sighed before she placed her mug on the table. She looked right into my eyes and spoke.
"The serum that Luke gave you was the serum that will help you ease the recollection of your past events," she said before she picked out something from her pocket.
Hold on. So is she saying that all this time I've been injecting some kind of serum that will help me remember? My mood shifted, and so I tried to remember the moments I had a headache. I never had one today, and for the past few days, there has been a time that my head has hurt, but it will go away in an instant.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.
"We're both afraid that if we get caught by Ysmael, he'll be furious as fuck," she explained as she avoided my gaze this time again.
"Why the hell would he get furious? I want to remember and I want to know everything about us, so why would he even oppose the idea?" I asked again.
"Believe me, you wouldn't want to know the whole story of it," she said before she finally stood up. I followed her to the kitchen countertop and called her name.
"So there's another story?"
"I promise I won't tell you anything starting yesterday, Adi," she frustratingly said.
She walked out of the kitchen while she was still glancing at me. I don't know what she meant by that, but the only thing that caught me thinking again was that this time it was Ysmael, who seems like he doesn't even want me to remember anything about us before. I'm not even trying to judge anything.
She needs to tell me this one.
I followed her out and saw her getting busy with the surfboard. When she saw me approaching in her direction, she sighed.
She signaled me to stop walking towards her, but I didn't listen. But then it's only a matter of seconds when I feel my head.
I feel like I'm about to collapse, and later on, I felt sand all over my legs. I'm holding on to both sides of my head and groaning loudly. It feels like there is a metal stick piercing through your skull, and it causes so much pain.
I eventually felt a pair of arms catch me. I looked from behind and saw him with a worried look. He looks messy in the morning.
"What are you even doing out here in the morning?"
I heard him asking me that question, but I couldn't answer him at all. I'm just minding my head, which now feels like it's breaking into pieces. When I close my eyes, a series of memories flash, but I don't know which one was true or if there's any truth to them at all.
I opened my eyes again and saw that Shaina had already joined in helping me, but I refused to stand up. I covered my head and took a few deep breaths. Tears started to fall from my eyes, and as I closed my eyes again, I knew that was it.
I saw him on the balcony of our mansion in a tux while I was in formal dress. I saw myself getting so lonely in a room I'm not familiar with. I saw myself helping him on the balcony of a high building. I saw us at a wedding venue.
Scenarios keep coming into my head, and I don't know which one to believe.
It's all about him. Everything about him.
The flashing of memories stopped, and it played a scenario I didn't see coming.
In my memory, I was mad and even pushed Shaina, as I'm also mad at him. I walked out of the place and drove myself until I got hit by a big truck.
I saw myself.
Bleeding all over my body.
I heard someone laughing in the background, and the next thing I knew, Luke's voice was calling me from afar.
I opened my eyes and gasped for air. Ysmael looked so worried now, but all I could think about was all of those memories.
It's all true!
It is back.
My memories are coming back.
