Bella stared at Daniel who was pacing around the hospital wearing a worried frown, he hadn't rested since they got here and his limp was more pronounced, she remembered that he was in the hospital bed before leaving to save her and now with Aaron's life on the line, he wouldn't even drink water or sit down.
Bella wondered if this was the fierce formidable being she had seen when he was dealing with his father. Indeed, Daniel has two sides, one that is very loving and tender, that will fight to protect those he cares about and worry if any harm before them, just like he was worrying right now about Aaron, and the other side of him is a side that she never wished to experience, just thinking about how cold and ruthless he can be when he is offended, she pray never to fall victim to that side of him. Someone who can pull the trigger on his father without batting an eye is worth fearing.
"Come and sit down, you need rest too," she told Daniel when she thought that her eyes would fall off from watching him pace
"I am fine, you should get some rest, after what you've been through, I'll call someone to take you home" he replied and brought out his cellphone
"No!" She all but screamed and explained further when he glanced at her, "I...I... don't want to be alone right now"
"Nicholas Calvin is dead, you shouldn't be afraid "
She shuddered as the cold lifeless eyes of Nicholas Calvin jumped into her memory
"I know...lend me your phone, I need to inform Brittany that I'm safe, she must be worried sick"
Daniel gave her his phone and she quickly dialed Brittany's number
"Oh Bella, I'm glad that you are safe and sound" Brittany cried out when she heard Bella's voice
"Yeah, I'm fine, although Aaron was injured, he...
"He what?" Brittany screeched and Bella was puzzled, she knew that Brittany and Aaron got by as friends and she had noticed the way they both stared at each other when she was at Aaron's house, could something be going on between these two? She and Brittany hadn't had the time to talk for quite a while now
"He was shot" she informed Brittany and heard her sharp intake of breath
"What hospital is he?"
"Jenny's Memorial Hospital, he's in the operating room and we hadn't heard anything
"I'm coming over," Brittany said in a rush and the line went dead.
She gave Daniel back his phone, "I still think you should sit down" she insisted, pain was etched all over his face, he had lost someone in the shootout, Marcus, and now he must be afraid of losing Aaron, "he will be fine" she told him in hopes that she would get him to relax.
He looked at her gratefully, he recognized her effort to make him feel better but right now, nothing would. He had been with Marcus and Aaron for as long as he could remember, and they shared similar pains which is losing a dear one, he had lost his mother and they had both lost their respective wives and kids, this bounded them together and they became close as brothers, watching each other's back. Although they still referred to him as boss, they knew it was just for formality, their bond goes deeper than boss and employee. Now Marcus is gone, it still hurts that he is gone and that too was because of him and now, he was going to lose another of his friend
"Damn it" he cursed and felt like punching the wall
"Come here," Bella told him and dragged him to sit down, "look at me Daniel, he will be fine, calm down"
Daniel stared at her softly and ran his fingers softly against her cheek, she looked exhausted and pretty with dirt smeared all over her face. She had been through so much in the hands of his father these past few days but he was glad that was over and they'll start a new chapter as couples in their lives soon.
"When all this is over, I have something to tell you," he told her, he had a lot to tell her and one of those is that he wasn't about to let her leave him, not now and not ever.
"Bella" someone called and they both looked up to see Brittany running frantically towards them, on a regular day, before she met Aaron, she would have been awed by having Nikolai Klaus right in front of her, she would have been ecstatic about seeing the most talked about mysterious king of the underworld but right now, that was not so, her thoughts were fixated on Aaron, she was scared that he would die and she won't see him forever, she realized that she had fallen head over heels with that bull head and had almost fainted when Bella had told her that he had been shot.
"Aaron, what about him? Any news?" She asked in panic as tears filled her eyes
"Calm down Brittany, we are still waiting for the doctor" Just then, there was an alarm, and nurses and doctors were rushing towards a particular direction and Daniel stood up to ask what was going on.
A doctor walked towards them, "Sir, there is an emergency, the patient has lost a lot of blood and keeps losing, to stabilize him, we need more blood and his blood type is not available right now in the hospital blood bank"
"What do you mean?" Daniel's voice was cold and the doctor looked a bit shaken, he didn't want to offend Nikolai Klaus
"I..if any of you can donate will be great, it will save us more time than going to look for a donor"
"I'll donate, I'm a universal donor, I can donate for him, take as much as you can" Brittany quickly said and both Bella and Daniel stared at her
"Ok ma'am, let's get you checked up if you are fit to be a donor," the doctor said, eager to leave the side of Nikolai Klaus
"Doctor" Daniel called when the doctor turned to leave, "save him, please " his voice broke and the doctor's heart went out to him, for Nikolai Klaus to beg for a life, only means that life must be very valuable to him
"We'll do everything we can, do not worry Sir " the doctor replied and led Brittany away.

"You are not fit to be a donor ma'am," the doctor said and Brittany was confused
"Why not? I am Okay, aren't I?" She asked
"Yes you are ma'am but you cannot donate blood because you are pregnant"
"What!" Brittany screeched, she was pregnant? She was so shocked that she didn't even know how to take the news, Aaron's baby, she was pregnant with Aaron's child, "Oh no! How would Aaron take it? She doesn't even know if she wants a baby right now.
"Are you sure doctor?" She asked and he nodded, "you are two weeks gone already"
So it was a missed period, she thought, she hadn't seen her period when she was supposed to and she thought that it was being delayed, now, it was confirmed that she was pregnant.
"I'm sorry ma'am, I have to look for another donor," the doctor said and walked out of the room with Brittany in tow.
"So? Is everything alright?" Daniel asked as soon as he saw them
"She can't be a donor," the doctor said
"I'll donate, I can be a donor," Daniel said
"B..but you just came out of a critical condition, how can..."
"I want to donate, do it, and take as much blood that will keep him alive"
The doctor looked unsure, just a few weeks back, he had been shot and he was even supposed to still be on bed rest but he left and now he wants to be a donor.
"Let's go, doctor, I have only one wish for you. Save my friend " Daniel said and placed a kiss on Bella's lips before leaving with the doctor.
