Yul's POV.
"What's happening, George?" She was weeping as we run together back to the hospital.
"Hyeri, our daughter, she's... ahhhck. Let's see her for now."
As much as I wanted to push her to tell me in an instant, I chose not to.
When we reached the hospital, the Doctor approached us in an instant. He was worried.
"Care to tell me what I've been missing all this time?" I asked.
George came directly to Hyeri's room where Kate and Cygnus were currently staying.
The Doctor replied. "Mr. Servano, let's go inside your daughter's room."
I nodded.
Cygnus saw me, his fit suddenly clenched. "That imbecile... he's here?"
Is he about me?
"Why? Shouldn't I be? The patient is MY daughter." Now, I'm the one clenching.
"Yes, by blood. But the way you're acting is way way different from a real father I've known so far." He grinned.
I can't take this. "Could you just... wait outside? Bring Kate with you, there's a discussion needed to conduct between the family and the Doctor. Your very presence is intimidating me---"
"Stop! Really, Yul and Cygnus? How unprofessional." Kate yelled and escorted his husband away from the room, rolling her eyes.
"Actually, you don't need to send them away since they were your closest friends, I guess? But anyway, let's continue. Wasting time is in the last line of my list," The Doctor said, raising his hands to call for a truce, maybe?
Yael started to weep. "Dad, Mom... my sister. She's shivering and her face is different. She's so difficult to get a hold of because her body has become hardly untouchable."
"Sshhh, don't worry. It'll be okay, son." I tried to comfort Yael as I tried to not get caught in his tears as well.
"It's normal for now because of her current situation, Mr. and Mrs Servano. That's why immediate care is being asked. Well, can we talk without the kid?" Doctor Go asked.
I took a deep breath. George looked at me with a "rescue me with the response, I'm too weak to speak on my own right now" look. She's too weak to face such a situation that hurts our kids. I understand. It's normal for her since she has a weak heart for someone she loves.
"Alright, Yael, could you go with your nanny outside and buy fruits for your sister?" I asked, lowering my body to be the same level as his.
"No, Dad, I wanted to be beside her. My twin needed me, I can feel her weakness from within and she needed me to get some of my energy. It's kind of our thing as a twin. I can sense it, though you guys can't." He's talking as if I was talking to a teenage kid.
"Yael that's not what we needed. Please listen for once, for now. Let's not waste any more time." George said, looking disappointed and annoyed.
God, I hope she won't release those to our kids.
"No! I SAID, NO! Mom and Dad, I need to know the truth too." He was fiercely standing in front of us with no sign of annoyance in his face, but his tears are falling voluntarily.
"STOP! You're getting into my head! You have to listen to the instructions of the older because we know better than you did!" George now grips Yael's chin.
"Hey, wifey! It's too much." I butted in, taking away my son from her.
"Instructions aren't always meant to be followed, Mom. You're older than me only by age, but I know what is right! Not all of your instructions are good too," Yael talked back.
"Shh! Baby---"
"You too, Dad. You hurt Mom by going with some strange woman and you're coming back now after you guys reconcile because something bad happened to Hyeri. You know exactly that instructions aren't always a hundred percent credible! You didn't know better, you guys just think like that because you're older." He wiped his tears.
"Just listen... for now," I said. There's no need to take out anger on children. Even if I explain, Yael will choose not to understand. Kids will always be kids. Though sometimes they grew their mind even faster than their ages, they're still kids. Let kids be kids.
He glared at me for a moment, but eventually, he left, stomping his feet away from me.
"I guess your family is really fond of drama all this time, Fam," said Doctor Go. I almost forgot he was there. "Now, let's start. I won't beat around the bush, Hyeri has a tumor in her brain now."
"WHAT?!" George reacted so fast, she threw my hand away that was on her shoulder. "Why did it become that crucial? She just slipped!"
"Yes, it's true. Her fall isn't the reason. She has tumor since birth but it's not expanding. It's been there. However, that's the reason why she had and will continue to experience multiple headaches. It's blocking everything she needed every day. I may suggest that you agree to do surgery." George and I looked into each other, both worried and confused.
I bit my lower lip. "What do you mean? How did this happen? She slipped on what? George?"
George responded, "She fell on the tiles while playing with Yael in the bathroom."
"That's the reason. The impact is too much to bear for her. It worsens her existing tumor." Doctor Go took a deep sigh. "Decide quickly." He left.
I fixed my eyes on George. "George, this isn't happening. This is just in my wild imagination, right? I mean, how could she develop a tumor? There's no one in my descendant who had that! It's not inherited and..."
George butt in. "Yul, Hyeri inherited it from my family. It's possible."
"NO!" I yelled, walking toward Hyeri. "How could this happen? I only went out that day to persuade Cara just for me to receive this unexpected news?" I caressed her head. My poor Hyeri is suffering...
"It did. No one's at fault, not even Hyeri herself. It's her condition in the first place, we're just lucky we discover it as soon as possible before it worsened." George looked away.
"The only solution for this is surgery. However, it's still dangerous. I will say this before you asked, it might fail." Doctor Go faintly looked at me.
"I don't understand, Doc, what do you mean?" I asked, furrowing my brows.
"She might die," he continued. It feels so freezing to my ear like I was tranquilized. I don't understand... I'm confused.
Until I felt my cheek feeling cold in tears. "She's too young... it could have been me."
Doctor Go butted in, "That's the exact reason why there's a high possibility of failing. Her body is still developing. So if you've decided to agree with the operation, you're required to sign a waiver."
George cries in pain and laughs in sarcasm. "So you mean you'll not be held responsible if my child dies?"
"Yes, George, it is," I said. "That's why it's all upon us now."
"They're just trying to escape from the consequences! Didn't you think of it? If this hospital successfully lets us sign a waiver they can just play the operation on our daughter because they won't be blamed anyway! Even if Hyeri died, they won't worry, not even a bit!" She stood up in front of the Doctor. God...
"George, you don't understand." I tried to explain to her.
"The only one who can't understand all of this is Hyeri. Stop trying to justify this Doctor!" She glared at the Doctor.
"Doc we'll talk about it later. You may go," I said, nodding my head.
Doctor Go went out but George isn't letting him go.
"STOP! STAY HERE!" However, Doctor Go won't give a shit. He wants to be out of trouble.
"GEORGE! WHAT THE HECK'S HAPPENING TO YOU?!" I took a deep sigh. "You're overreacting again."
"As a mother, that's my initial reaction. Have you seen Hyeri and these tubes? All of them are going INSIDE her! It's hurting me... it's... fucking unacceptable!" She looks like a zombie now, and I can't help but get caught by those tears.
"I know, baby. I understand you and your pain. But---"
"If you understand me, there would be no buts," she sarcastically said.
"Could you hear me out for now? Will you please breathe? I'm going crazy too! This is my daughter we're talking about. I could act as well as you did, but if I do that nothing good will happen!" She glared at me and walked toward me.
"Now that you said it, I suddenly remembered, it was your fault." She wiped her tears.
"What? Are we talking about Cara again?" My head is full right now. I can't deal with this, damn.
"Yes. It was you! HAHA! It has always been you, putting me and my children in great pain and danger." George laughed.
I sneered. "Damn, we've talked it out, George! A while ago were running to the hospital together after we reconcile! Are you still keeping this up?" My face is all crumpled.
"No, we're not. I just give you some slack, but I'm still wary of your explanation. I still can't fully forgive you." Is she crazy?
"That's silly, George. You're kidding, right?" I tried to laugh it out, but she won't buy it.
"No, I'm not." She laughed. "Give me some more time, Yul. Alone. I need more time to think. I know you're confused, but I just can't. I'm confused too."
I can't help it. My brain is getting dry. She's like a vacuum cleaner, sucking all of my energy, yet I still needed her. I cried. "Baby, please, don't do this. We can't argue with each other, we needed one another, come on!" Why is she playing me like a damn toy?
"I'm sorry. Let's split our ways in the meantime," she said.
I can't help but go down on my knees.
Even if I have to beg, I would.
I can't afford to lose her anymore.
