Chapter 43

"Riña, save us." Henry cried from the screen and she kept jabbing her fists into Ash's stomach. If she could get out the password from her, she could tell the detective who'd raced over to the orphanage while she had been giving Ash a beatdown.

The countdown of the bomb had a few seconds left and Zuriña was about to increase the weight of her fists when a mirage suddenly attacked her. She grabbed her head, trying to stabilize herself despite the so real unstable ground.

Images of the couple she had seen while she'd been fighting with Sahan filled her head and her heart felt like it was going to explode.

"My daughter...I'm sorry...run away." The dying white-haired man in his pool of blood said.

"Can you make a promise to mum? Never ever let that person capture you." The white haired woman, who was also covered in blood told her.

In spite of the mirage, she fought the impulse to let Ash go so she continued punching her face until the mirage faded away and Ash slowly raised up her hand to snap her fingers and Zuriña noticed the countdown of the bomb stopped.

Her legs were shaky as she rose and she raised her hand to her earpiece.

"Detective, what about the kids? Are they safe?" She asked.

"I found them but..."

Tears welled up in her eyes. "But?"

"It feels like we've lost to Ash again."

"What do you mean?"

"The kids are okay and the house is fine as well. From the beginning, I think she had no intention of blowing up the house or killing the children."

Ash groaned as she wiped off the blood from her mouth before she rose and Zuriña turned to see her take out a bottle of pills. She was still wondering what they were when Ash smashed them with her claws.

"pureblood." She called and she raised her head. "The closer you get to the Master, the more calamity you bring upon yourself."

"What do you mean?" She frowned.

"If you want to live and ensure the safety of those around you as well, stop what you are doing. Stop trying to hunt down the Master..."

"I'm not going to stop. Those bastards killed Father Michael and made the world like this. They have to pay." She replied.

"You already killed Lucian. Why are you after..." "Master is after me too and this won't end until one of us is dead."

Ash smiled through her bruised face. "I thought you were gentle but it turns out that you have a darker side as well...Take care of the people around you, pureblood." She said and sped off into the darkness.

"What do you mean?" She asked after her but got no response.

She raised her hand to her chest and realised that it was still pounding. Those people she'd seen looked like they were her parents and from the hazy image she'd seen, she'd seen Clifford town written on a banner, directly at the entrance.

She'd also realised she'd gotten more agitated, since she started recording her memories.

But what exactly happened ten years ago? She wondered.

"How many times will I tell you? I don't know a thing." The man from the TV said.

The police were investigating the disappearance of Ariel Martin who had been missing for four days.

"Do you have any clue why she'd donate all of her wealth and disappear? We believe the possibility of suicide can't be ruled out as well." A reporter said.

"Look, it's driving me crazy as well." The man was saying when she walked into the living room.

"I think Ash would disappear quietly from now on." Zuriña said.

"I think so too. There hasn't been any action taken by the angel of deaths after you fought with Ash."

A frown knitted her brow as she recalled Ash's words.

"What is it?"

"Ash said something about more calamity befalling me the more I get closer to Master. I don't think she was using that to scare me... and there were does mysterious pills as well."

"You said Ash destroyed the bottle of pills?" Kaiwan asked and she nodded.

"There are three angels of death left. Coincidentally, one of them owns a pharmaceutical company so if we look into him, I think we'll be able to find out more about the 0101 project."

"I'll go pack my things."

"I'll see you in the garage then."

Katherine was in her room when she walked in. "What's the plan?"

"We're leaving." She said as she walked over to her wardrobe and threw the doors open. "Already?"

"If we don't go for them, they will come for us and the least thing the detective and I want, is to put you and other people in danger." She said as she took out some clothes.

" I don't know what to take along." She said as she looked over the clothes and Katherine smiled.

"Leave that to me."

Kaiwan was slipping on his gloves in the garage when she walked in.

"You're here." He said before he raised his eyes to her and there was a shocked look on his face.

"You look you're off to war." He said looking over at skinny croptop and jeans she was putting on.

"I thought clothes that allow for freedom of movement would be better." She said as she walked over to her bike.

"You even put on earrings. Zuriña, what brought about the sudden change?" He asked and she bit her lip. Katherine was the one who suggested she should wear them as it gave her a cooler look.

"Should we head out now?" She asked, changing the subject.

"Yeah. As long as our location has been made known, we shouldn't stay here for much longer." He said.

"Detective on our way, I have to drop by somewhere. There's someone I have to meet." She said.

"Where?"

"Clifford town."

They had barely drive out of the garage when Katherine walked in holding a little bag. "Katherine..."

"I thought I should at least say goodbye before you leave...Take care of yourself."

"You too." She smiled fighting back the tears that wanted to crawl down her cheeks. She'd miss her.

"Zuriña, Kaiwan, come back soon. Okay?"

"We will." Kaiwan replied and she sniffed as she took out a jacket from the bag.

"Did you get something for me as a parting gift? I'm touched."

Zuriña was surprised when she wore the jacket over her shoulders instead.

"This is..." Her voice trailed off.

"I thought it would look good on you." She replied.

"Thanks."

"I see there's nothing for me." Kaiwan sighed .

"There is." Katherine replied as she walked over to peck on the cheek and his cheeks turned red.

The girls were surprised. "You're blushing."

"I'm not." He protested.

"I'll miss you."

"You too."

Mamon slammed his fist against the table. "That bitch ruined everything. How dare she make a mess and run away?"

Joel twirled a cigarette around his fingers with a sigh. "Calm down. Swearing at her won't change anything."

"Do you know how much effort I put into making these pills in preparation for 'that day'? If this project turns out to be unsatisfactory, I'm going to crush their organs. pureblood or not."

They heard heavy footsteps approaching and Vael sighed.

"Get ready every one." Joel said.

Mamon adjusted his necktie. " We're fucked... we're really fucked."

"You crazy bastard." Vael muttered.

"Master is coming. Prepare yourself." Joel said.
