Chapter 66

"He called someone out."

"He's so handsome."

Vael heard a girl and her friend say and he couldn't have felt more pleased. The tables had been turned.

"The country's watching. Do you think you can escape me after you do this?" He heard Yiannais ask in his head.

"The show isn't over yet." He replied and Yiannais slowly rose.

"Look forward, cause magic is about defying expectations." He said and he walked back to the stage, followed by a reluctant Yiannais.

"Now the trick, I'll perform..." He was saying as he slipped out four of his playing cards. "...is this."

The card caught fire and the audience gasped as he sent them flying towards Yiannais.

"What? Is that safe?"

"It must be an actual fire." Someone muttered.

This was the show's highlight.

"When this fire is off, it will show a person's true form."

The audience had curious looks on their faces as they focused their eyes to Yiannais, who made no attempt to quench the flame.

The fire started dying down, revealing an unhurt Yiannais, the breeze blowing his white hair across his handsome face.

Yiannais clenched his fist. "So your hidden card is only something like this? Vael, this is just magic. No one will believe I'm a vampire anyway." Vael heard inside his head and he turned to send burning cards towards a staff.

"They will if I do this."

The audience, thinking it was still part of the show turned to the staff who was writhing in pain.

"Save me...It's hot..."

Few people started to question the show with their looks and it was only confirmed something was wrong when the staff collided with a wall, breaking it down as he tried to quench the fire.

"Everyone, this isn't a trick. It's a real situation. The person in front of your eyes is a vampire."

Some of the audience rose to get a clear look and one of them ran towards the stage to confirm, before running out of the hall.

"Run...It's a vampire."

Chaos broke out among the audience the next minute. Children were crying for their parents, boyfriends were trying to get their girls to safety and Vael turned to the closest camera, linked to the broadcast.

"This is the 'Master' who controls other vampires. All of the staff here are his underlings..."

"That's correct." Yiannais interjected. "I'm also the main cause of this situation and I'll make all of you into a vampire."

The audience had gotten to the exit doors but we're yet to get out and it became clear to Vael. They were trapped.

"Open the door." A mother cried.

"Are you crazy? Your face is being broadcasted."

Yiannais' lips curved into a smile. "It doesn't matter..." He was saying as he raised his hand. "...because from now on, everyone who watched this show..." Vael was shocked when he snapped his fingers. "...won't remember a thing."

He turned to the audience as they got hypnotized one after the other. This wasn't his plan.

"I feel bad for turning the show like this since it's been a while you stood on stage. Now that the stage is ours, how do you feel? Your plans ruined down the drain..."

Admitting defeat and cowering like a coward wasn't in his dictionary. He'd known Yiannais for years and he knew exactly what to don't to aggravate him.

Vael burst into laughter as he clapped. "Thanks to you, no one died. I was wondering how I could send those away safely. Hypnosis works best though."

Just as he'd expected, Yiannais got provoked. "Are you saying this was all calculated?"

"Of course, don't you know me?"

"I was fond of you because you did all the dirty work so I was planning on ending it here but...this is way out of line." Yiannais said as his suited up underlings started encompassing him.

"Stop acting up with those cards of yours." One taunted.

"If you surrender, your death will be less painful."

"How dare you spout nonsense?" He asked as he took out tons of cards. "I should teach you a lesson for underestimating an angel of death." He said and sent them towards the underlings.

They weren't the problem. Yiannais was.

Someone suddenly hit him from behind and he went crashing into a wall.

Blood seeped out of his mouth as he saw Yiannais approaching with a murderous glare.

He hadn't seen him coming.

He groaned as he rose to his feet. He couldn't Yiannais see him weak, he'd only make his death slow.

"I can't believe you thought you could go against me."

He slipped out half of his cards."Don't worry, we're just getting started."

"How foolish." Yiannais scoffed as his fist caught on fire, surprising him. "Have you forgotten? The powers of all angels of death came from me."

Crap, how could he have forgotten? Yet, there was no way he'd back down. He'd drag Yiannais to death with him.

They both zoomed to collide with each other, Yiannais' fist against his pack of cards, shaking the entire building and sending up some parts in flames.

Yiannais swept his leg over him, sending him to the ground and was about to finish him off when he blew up a card, distracting Yiannais.

He looked down at his injured stomach, which was seeping with blood. His wound was supposed to start healing but he guessed Yiannais had obstructed his power.

He didn't care. He was going to die anyway.

pureblood, take care of Daniel. He said in his mind one more time, hoping his message would reach her.

I'm sorry, Daniel.

Yiannais leapt to attack him and he closed his eyes, wanting to summon the last bit of power in him when something flew past his face.
