Kaiwan was walking past Zuriña's room, a couple of minutes later, when he saw her holding onto her head. Worried, he frowned as he walked in.
Was something wrong?
"Riña." He neared as he called.
He halted in his tracks like someone bitten on recalling the incident at Rick's city hall tunnel.. Did she perhaps turn again?
He swallowed as he took a step backwards as a precautionary method, his eyes searching her room for her crown of thorns when she staggered. If she'd changed again, he'd to turn her quickly before she killed him.
"Zuriña?..." His voice trailed off as his eyes kept searching for it. Where had she dropped it?
She suddenly spun to face him and he flinched as his heart jumped into his stomach. Fortunately, her eyes were only glowing again.
"Vael is in danger."
"God, you scared me." He sighed in relief.
The brightness in her eyes was starting to fade as she turned to head out and he grabbed her arm to pull her back. "Where are you going?"
"Vael is in danger. He needs my help."
Purple hair was in danger?
"Purple hair?"
"It's urgent, Detective." She said.
It had to be, seeing her eyes had glowed.
"I'll go with you, then."
"Alright."
Kaiwan made a quick dash to his room to slide on a pullover top over the singlet he was putting on and they walked out of the room, headed for the concert hall when he discovered Daniel was missing.
His head turned to her sharply. "Where's Daniel?" He asked and she turned to look around, a puzzled look on her face.
"Huh?That's weird...I left him over there after he woke." She said, pointing to one of the rooms.
If he wasn't in the house, could he have sensed Vael was in danger too?
"Vael told you he's in danger, is that right?" He asked and she nodded.
"Then, I think I have a pretty good idea of where he is."
Zuriña's eyes widened."The concert hall?"
"We need to head there now."
He looked down at his injured stomach, which was seeping with blood. His wound was supposed to start healing but he guessed Yiannais had obstructed his power.
He didn't care. He was going to die anyway.
pureblood, take care of Daniel. He said in his mind one more time, hoping his message would reach her.
I'm sorry, Daniel.
Yiannais leapt to attack him and he closed his eyes, wanting to summon the last bit of power in him when he felt something fly pass his face and his eyes opened to see Daniel in front of him.
"Daniel?" He muttered as he hurried over to see Daniel had blocked the hit, just like how he'd always done in the past and Yiannais' arm in his mouth was now dripping with blood.
"Daniel...I told you to stay there. Why did you come back?" He yelled.
Vael and Yiannais were both shocked when Daniel's eyes transformed to bright blue eyes.
"What the..." Yiannais' voice trailed off. "So that's how it is. This is all Zuriña's doing."
"Why did you come here? I sent you there to protect you." He yelled and immediately sensed something felt off.
"Kill it."
Daniel gave a ferocious roar which sent Yiannais' underlings cowering back in fear, much to Yiannais' distaste.
"What is that lion?" One asked.
"Pathetic." Yiannais spat out. "Guys who are scared of a measly cat...are useless." He growled and he outstretched his arm to hit one of them, and they went tumbling over each other like dominoes.
Vael was astonishingly shocked at Daniel's transformation oblivious of the blood that was seeping down his ear. His eyes soon caught it and he wondered what was going on.
Daniel's eyes told him he'd become a pureblood, but why was his condition getting worse? He'd be fine, right?
"He'll die soon..." Yiannais said, as if he'd read his mind and Vael turned to him. "But since it's your pet, guess what?" He asked as he neared. "I can't let it live for a second longer. I will kill him in front of your eyes."
Vael was quick to pull out his cards. There was no way he'd let anything happen to Daniel. "You should focus.Your opponent is me." He said, pain shooting through his entire body. The damage from his attack were severe than he thought. If this fight prolonged, he'd be at a disadvantage. Daniel was there too. He couldn't let him get hurt.
He turned to Daniel. "Daniel, I'm working right now and yet how can you come here and disturb me?..." Daniel's eyes looked sad and he tried not to burst into tears. It was for his good.
"Go away, okay? I'll give you tons of delicious food...so wait and don't disturb me."
He dragged in a ragged breath as he turned to glare at his sworn enemy, Yiannais Peterson.
"Your body shouldn't be working properly right now. If you fight in that state, you'll definitely die."
"What?" He snorted. "Are you worrying about me?"
"And you've run out of cards too."
"Didn't I say it earlier? I must have forgotten to. I may look like I can use fire only with the use of cards. But I'll break that expectation of yours." He slipped out of his suit and curled his fingers, sending his hands in flames.
"This is the real deal. You should see it to the end, don't you think?"
Yiannais laughed. "You're putting your life on the line, so compared to dying doing nothing, you prefer to die in a fight?"
There was only one way he was sure to win and that was to attack before he was ready.
"Thanks for realizing that. Look forward to it, if you get hit with these fists, your skin will melt."
"Then I should return the favor..." Yiannais was saying when Vael raced behind him, coming off the back foot with a thrust up the legs but Yiannais whipped his head forward and smashed on the stomach.
He raced his fists, intending to hit him,but he spun on his left foot, the right coming up and out, taking him by surprise by catching him squarely in the jaw before tropling him to the floor.
Yiannais slammed his elbow back into his gut, and snapped fist up into his face. There was a crunch and a spray of blood as his' suddenly exhaled breath blew his blood on to the back of Yiannais' hand.
He was too fast.
Yiannais walked to loom over him with a curled raised fist. "Now, any last words?"
Tears blurred his vision as he slowly turning to him. "A...way. Run away...Daniel."
"So childish."He grimaced. "Was the Vael I knew always this emotional?"
Vael turned to him. "Don't do...anything to Daniel."
"Why shouldn't I?" He was about to launch an attack on him when Daniel went flying towards him. The end had come.
"Daniel, no." Vael cried out with the last strength he had.
"Yiannais." Someone called and he turned to see Zuriña hovering towards them, and Vael couldn't be more than glad at the timing.
Landing a few steps from Yiannais, she slowly raised her head. "Any last words, Yiannais Peterson?"
"Zuriña Anderson?"
She angled her head with a smile. "Sorry, I'm a bit late, right?"
She had saved his life. He'd thought it was the end but she got his message and came for him.
He made to smile but his injuries prevented him from doing so.
"Why are you here?" Yiannais asked with a frown and she arched her brow.
"Do you think you have the right to ask?"
Yiannais snickered as he slipped his hands out of his pocket. "You shouldn't have come." He said and Vael's eyes widened in shock as blade-like flames burst out from his hands. That was the first time he'd ever see something like that. It was lot stronger than his.
Yiannais flew towards her, intending to catch her by surprise but he screamed as she lowered her head. "Look out."
"How dare you look at me when you're just a weak hybrid? What would that lukewarm fire do?" She asked, raising her head and her fists went up in blue flames as she curled her fist.
"It should at least be this hot."
Merely looking at it, Vael knew Yiannais was doomed for the night, if he didn't have a trick tucked up his sleeve.
"This is the power of a real pureblood. Are you ready to lose? It'll be quite hot from now on."
